OMG, I don't see an FF topic in the games sub-forum. Oh, well, I guess that's been fixed, huh? Well, like the topic header says, this is a thread for FF, any of them, from One to Whichever. Also, There's the poll, so let's have fun!

I think for me its FFVII because I think that opened the floodgates for the RPG genre. The game was a classic in every way, and I know with my friends, if you never played the game, you can't be considered a gamer. Other than that, I remember getting excited everytime a FF game came out. I always either called out sick for school or work for like 3 days, just to play.

You know it. FFVII was the real start of RPG fandom in America in my opinion too. I believe it was the best FF game made, it's just that eight was my favorite. Like Yoda is the best Jedi but Mace is my favorite.

Until I played Final Fantasy VII I had no clue what a real role playing game was like. Then after about fifteen minutes I was like "Wow. If this is a game, then what have I been playing?" So I've pretty much played every Final Fantasy game since then (save for VII, and also the title's I couldn't get stateside).

And dude, how can you not like Mace Windu? He's Samuel L. f****n' Jackson.

Hey, play Fallout (the original, not the shooter) for an hour or two, then you'll have played a real RPG

So are you in fact trying to say that Final Fantay games aren't real RPGs? *pulls out a Buster Sword*
I should destroy you just for saying that.

Grave consequences can result when you insult FF around an FF geek, like me.
*takes out Masamune*
And you can get all of the FF games stateside now.

....ok to all the FF fans, nerds, geeks, and SUPER-OMEGA-ULTIMA-FREAKS, do not take this as an insult to FF. i would like to play the game, it's just the damn combat system. i don't want to want wait for some damn action bar to load. also do not say that Final Fantasy is the definition of RPGs. remember where RPG's originated from.

I never said they were the very definition of RPGs. I say to you though, that saying the entire Final Fantasy franchise is made up of poor examples of RPGs is like saying that all the Halloween movies sucked. A few of them may not be that good, but that is like guilt by association.

And for the record, RPGs originated with Dungeons & Dragons, first released in 1974, and created by E. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. First published by TSR, Inc., and currently published by Wizards of the Coast, Inc. (they bought the rights to the game in the 90's. The game is currently in it's 4th edition.

(Slightly off topic, but still, relevant.)

Hey! You left out the category I fall under. The Uber-Ultimate-Omega-Geeks. Show a little acknowledgment will you? And hey, if you have a problem with the FF series, that's fine by me. It's just the people that try to insult it that annoy me. Everyone has their own preferences, so I can understand it. And I don't blame you. I always set the ATB gauge to as fast as I can, but I'm just an impatient type of person.

Does anyone here disagree with the fact that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children was the greatest CG movie ever?
