at district festival, sight reading was the most fun (even though we got a 2) cause of our band director. he gets to make jokes, sing (very badly), etc. without getting penalized. so when we sight read our two songs, he sang at really high notes (which really made us laugh) XD

sight reading is easy, we always get a top score in it, and yes when our band director sings anything it's always really funny if he doesn't take high part down an octave

Sightreading goes well if the trumpets don't have the melody to long. because when ever we practice sightreading in my band, our trumpets are a-holes who plays wrong rhythms, notes, and the volume. it gets so annoying!
The fun part of sightreading is after sightreading my BD makes fun of the sightreading music if he hates that music. Ex:Texoma!

I used to like sight reading...until today. At Pre-UIL, the sight reading was called Lost Mountain. It was written in d minor, if I'm not mistaken, but that wasn't the bad part. The things that drove me up the wall (both as part of the music and our execution) were: 1) Didn't start together, 2) Didn't count properly, 3) There was a ritard to a faster part, and 4) There was no confidence in any part of the band. The worst part is a good majority of the band returned from last year, when we got 1's at a SR contest and didn't even use up all the explanation time. I think the only good thing was that we didn't completely crash and burn. Now we wait to see what the judge had to say...
