[cert here]

It just... It just didn't matter anymore.
And neither did she.

That's how it was, at least. Her mother had taken her brother from her as a foal. She had only one memory of the overly-affectionate mare towards her father, and that was her leaving with her brother. It was a sour memory, because at the time she didn't understand why her mother had to leave. But as she grew, she learned rather quickly - she wasn't like them. She wasn't a Kalona. She was merely a toy for her father.

At least, that's always what he said.
But toys were meant to bring pleasure, not periods of frustration and depression.

Even still at the time he was emotionally unstable to be a good father figure, she had stayed with Persephonix. Unfortunately, he never treated her like his daughter. A weapon against his peers was more like it. He wanted to use her to make up for his short-comings. He saw no way out unless he made his mistake into something more.

But now it didn't matter and the long, brutal days of his training were long gone memories. Her muscles ached from running, but in a good way. Like the kind where she knew she was accomplishing something.

However, she knew she wasn't.

Lorelei growled bitterly as the same train of thought ran its course through her head for the millionth time that day. Her legs were weary after he long run, but she had to get away. Running kept her mind off being betrayed and used for too long. Running kept her mind off her worthless being... How her existence was never really acknowledged in the first place. Flying didn't do the trick. All that worked were her wings. She didn't have to concern herself over an excited heart beat and straining muscles...

The only reason she was walking was to keep moving. Her gallop had turned to a trot to a walk a mile or so back. But now, she needed to run again. She needed to just keep moving. The mare had no idea where she was going. She just knew it had to be away. Somewhere.

Maybe she would find herself on the way. Or lose herself. A wry smile tugged at her lips as she lowered her head against the wind and started into her offhand gallop.

Abiron felt perfectly at ease; he strolled through his lands without a care in the world, stopping every few feet to sniff at a meadow wildflower, or nibble up a few blades of grass, or admire a fat, lazy bee nearly drip off of a bud on a tree. The only sounds were of the bees, a low hum, and the calls of birds in the trees in the distance. All was peaceful.

But all was not perfect. For some time now, Abiron had been alone; he hadn't spoken aloud to anything with the capability to respond in quite some time. He felt alone, isolated... forgotten.

It didn't matter in the slightest in his mind, however. He didn't require the company of another to be happy. He had everything he needed, firmly wedged up in his mind; he was a Shaman, he communicated with nature. And to him, there was nothing more peaceful than just watching the wind take the fluffy white seeds of the cottonwood trees high above, and letting them gracefully fall to the ground like soft, fat snowflakes.

Abiron sighed. There had been someone, someone to share all of this natural beauty and wonder with, not too long ago... but they had parted ways forever. And now, looking back on it, he longed for the companionship; not her in particular, but for someone to be there, to listen to him, to marvel at the earth in the same way he did. Someone to race to the highest peak of the mountain, or spend a lazy summer day with. Someone to call his own.

Shaking his head slightly, trying to get the thoughts out of his mind, Abiron continued walking, bending his head down every few steps to sniff at a flower or bug on the ground. This was his kind of day.

Breathing was becoming a bit of an issue. Lorelei scowled as she cursed her all too mortal heart and lungs which were unable to keep up with her need to run. That wasn't the only issue bothering her, however - an unsettling feeling settled upon her maybe five or six meters back. Her expert nose caught onto the scent of another. Her gallop slowed rather quickly, and immediately she pursued a more stealthy approach. Her steps were slower as she walked through the unfamiliar territory, her lavender eyes ridiculously wary.

Her wings folded tighter against her side, and her ears flattened against her skull. Who was about? Her upper lip curled into a snarl, but her throat could not bear a growl - she was trying to hard to control her tired breathing. It didn't even dawn on her that this learned reaction was all from Persephonix. Did she really need to assume whomever was around was an enemy? Really? She questioned this internally, yet could not break from her offensive posture.

The ivory mare stuck to the shadows, though unfortunately she stuck out amongst the dark. Fortunately though, foliage kept her slim figure hidden rather well. She lowered her head to gaze through a distinct hole in a bush. Inside was an empty nest, which explained the hole. But through the other side she distinctly saw another walking. A rather large specimen, at that.

Lorelei growled unconsciously. She couldn't help it. She had been raised to stalk out and attack others. A quick glance at the stallion proved otherwise. He was much larger than her, and his antlers weren't the most encouraing thing in the world. A physical fight would be hard, and painful... Lorelei's confidence fooled her however, as she had a belief that if it came to it, she would win.

'.. S-Stop. STOP.'
Her thoughts broke through the taught desire to take on the stranger. Her reasonable conscious, which had evaded her for so long, was much more apparent these days, and right now was no exception. Lorelei's muscles relaxed and her throat relaxed, but she didn't break from the bush. Her reason told her it'd be better to leave, but her curiosity got the better of her.

Abiron looked up to the sky, nearly cloudless, and stopped in his tracks. Days like today came about once, maybe twice in a season, where perfect humidity and perfect temperature combined to create a day so beautiful, so perfect, that not doing something outside, stretching his legs, seemed like a waste. So, he thought he would run.

But, before he could break out his large body into his great lumbering stride, a scent wafted to his nose, gently cradled by the breeze. It wasn't overpowering by any means, but it surprised him, and caught him offguard; it was the scent of a female, not too far off. He stood still, lifting his nose up slightly and smelling the air, the gems and beads in his antlers and the leaves around his forelegs rustling in the slight breeze.

The scent was definitely female, and she was definitely close. She wasn't trying too hard to hide herself, Abiron was sure; since she was upwind of him, there was no doubt that she would know where she was positioned if she was trying to hunt him. And if she was trying to hunt him, which would have been a feat in and of itself, she probably didn't take into effect his large figure, thick hooves, antlers, and the skeleton draped across his back.

He wasn't at all worried about the female as a hunter. He was worried about the fact that he was rather rusty in his conversational skills. Oh well, might as well get it over with.

"Hello?" he called out in his deep, smooth voice, looking at the cluster of foliage where the scent seemed to be coming from. "I know you're in there... come on out."
