Seen it in theaters?

Seen it in Imax 3D?

Want to list the allusions, lampshadings, and subversions of classic tropes?

Thoughts?

I think the Imax figures might actually be big enough to fit you. =o It's worth asking.

We found a drive in theater that was showing it and my mom paid extra so we could bring my flatbed in to the lot. It was AWESOME!!

The Blob = Bob
Roach guy = twighlight zone fly man transporter sketch
obviously there was the monster from the black lagoon
insectasaurus is kinda like mothra

I thoguht it was kinda wizard of oz like:
Blob needed a brain
Roach needed a heart
Sea Monster needed confidence again
and the big bug was like toto lol!

Ah, but it takes a sharp right turn away from Wizard of Oz, because Susan starts off just wanting to stick with her normal life and in the end decides she's happier with the new one, whereas wizard of oz has starts with the protagonist wishing to be elsewhere and ends with her becoming "mature" by deciding to return to her miserable dirt-farm home in Kansas where her dog is to be put down.

She's also still in the same world, just seeing it from a different angle (49ft and 11 inches of the ground)

I think that Dr. Cockroach had a heart all along, and BOB never really got a brain. Also I fail to see your parallel for the wizard himself.

Proposal: Susan/Ginormica is the best written female action hero in cinema in the past 30 years. Agree or disagree?

My girlfriend and I just saw it in 3D a week ago and I must say while the story was decent the 3D made the movie for me and wouldn't have liked it at all without it. It had a very "Drive-In feel about it and the gimmicky nature of the 3D recreation of classic monster flicks was the only real draw for me.

Indeed, that one also is a fine display of artistic prowess. ^_^ It shows of the artist's trademark skill with action poses and vivid motion.
