Age: 18
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Craft: Harper
Rank: Apprentice/Candidate
Physical Description: Standing at a mere 5'5, Deldynwar a tad shorter than most not that the lack of height has ever bothered him. Slender but not overly so, Deldynwar has a fair amount of muscle mass hiding beneath that pale ivory skin even if it doesn't look like it most of the time. Deldynwar's eyes are a vibrant shade of green and his hair is an almost silken mass of dark walnut brown that curls about his shoulders unchecked for the most part.
Personality: Quiet and contemplative at first glance Deldynwar is very likely to avoid human contact at all costs if only to 'save himself the pain'. This concept of human contact causing him pain in some form or the other however stems from both Deldynwar's insecurities and various encounters with people who took advantage of his naivety. Even with this ‘mouse’ mentality however if he has become closely acquainted with someone, Deldynwar has been known to happily chatter the person’s ear off until they tire of him and tell him to shut up or simply leave. Stuck within a group, Deldynwar is most likely to be the silent follower taking any and every order without much complaint. Push him into a group and give him a task and Deldynwar will throw himself into it completely, taking full responsibility for any mishaps that might occur along the way. Even with his likelihood to follow orders from time to time he may interject an idea or two. While Deldynwar may come off as submissive he is anything but, back him into a corner and he's likely to bite.
History: The only child of a fairly normal family, Deldynwar was almost instantly expected to follow in his father’s footsteps and take up the blacksmith craft, considering his father thought he would be of more use as a blacksmith than as a harper’s apprentice. That plan however fell through when it was clear that the boy was far too ‘weak’ to do anything but be under foot. That didn’t stop the man from trying and Deldynwar wanting nothing more than to please his father tried his hardest to learn the craft but for the most part he was highly unsuccessful.
At the beginning of his blacksmith apprenticeship Deldynwar had been sent on errand by his master only to get sidetracked chasing a pair of thieves who not only managed to convince him that they had been robbed and needed a mark or two to buy dinner lest their parents flog them, but also managed to make him feel guilty about taking back all the marks after he finally caught them. Needless to say, Deldynwar’s master wasn’t exactly happy about the boy being late in returning from the errand OR about the fact that Deldynwar had only been able return with half of what he’d originally been sent to get. A report to his parents earned him a scolding from his mother as his father was forced to repay the blacksmith and send him the rest of the supplies. Strike one for the poor little mouse.
Strikes two and three came near the end of his blacksmith apprenticeship when Deldynwar came face to face with the darker side of humanity once again. Ambushed by a group of apprentices Deldynwar was taunted and beaten after someone let it slip about just where the boy’s sexual interests lie. It wasn’t until several weeks after the incident that Deldynwar found out just who had let that little fact ‘slip’. After that Deldynwar distanced himself from people unless absolutely necessary and absolutely sure he could trust them.
It took a grand total of four Turns for Deldynwar’s father to finally yield to the boy’s mother and let him become a harper’s apprentice. Wonders of wonders, the then fourteen year old boy took to the craft far easier than he had to the blacksmith craft. While a minor accomplishment in itself, the revelation didn’t please Deldynwar’s father in the least. A turn after the beginning of his harper apprenticeship, Deldynwar found himself for the first time on the receiving end of his father’s notorious temper. That one encounter was all it took for both Deldynwar and his mother to realize that the boy needed to be removed from the house before matters got worst. Escape however, at present seemed to be nonexistent and as such the best Deldynwar had found himself able to do was to continue with his apprenticeship and avoid his constantly irate father at all costs.
That is until before one of his lessons when a Searchrider came through and ‘rescued’ him. His parents were shocked by it at first but by the time Delydnwar was ready to leave the boy's infectious excitement and anxiety managed to win them over to the idea.
Pets: None
Other/Talents: Deldynwar possesses a sliver of minor skill as far as smiting goes though for the most part that is only in working the bellows and making sure things don’t get too hot.
As he’s still fairly new to the harper craft, he can play a tune or two enough to amuse, so long as the listener doesn’t become annoyed with the constant slips.
