Name: Alirien (Enjoys his nickname of Ali)
Age: 18
Sex: M
Sexual Orientation: Mm take a guess. xD (Homosexual)
Craft: N/A
Rank: Candidate
Physical Description: Alirien is a somewhat tall, wirey teenager. His eyes are nothing special, an olive hue lined in medium brown at the edges, but he prides himself on his hair. This year it is shoulder length, and just faintly curled at the ends and always kept cleaned to the best his his ability. He has a normally mildly dark complexion, but he's used a few powders brought from home on some special occassions to lighten it up and bring out his "good features" his eyes and lips, which he can at times find something to color them just a bit darker to stand out more.
Personality: One of the girls. Ali is very outgoing and is keen on hanging out with the girls his age, or older and share in on the gossip and current fashion advice he may have picked up from the women of the Weyr. He sees absolutely nothing wrong with the way he presents himself, though his feminine antics, and looks do occasionally have him mistaken for a tall younger girl at times, like being chased out of the boys dorm by someone that doesn't know him well enough, or doesn't happen to look closel enough to see that he is indeed a boy and has every right to his bed, thank-you-very-much. He's trained well by his elder sisters in the art of being emotional, and is still working on his "woman's scorn" and getting himself to walk graceful as his eldest sister intended.. which sometimes ends up disastrous and embarassing for all parties involved.
In a group situation, Ali isn't the leader type unless his group consists of younger girls, then his little "mother hen" mode can kick in a bit and he'll worry over every one around him and try his best to keep them out of trouble. He really isn't the best choice to have giving orders, with his habit of trying to make an order sound more like a request. If his group is evenly older-younger, or a good number are his own age, he's just as happy to slip into a follower standpoint and go with the flow (as long as there are girls in the crowd) and be a supporting rols, or his favorite, "informant" and gathering up any gossip of anything he overheard to relay back to the leader/s of the group.
History: Ali grew up in Ista Hold to a productive family of older, and younger sisters. Not a brother or masculine influence in sight. His father was always working in his mill and didn't have time to bother with the raising of his son over his precious work, what with having to have some of his hard earned food given away in tithes to the Weyr and having to mill more grains for the Hold itself and his family to be fed. Ali didn't lack for guidance though without his father around, far from it. He was trained in his mother's kitchen right at his sisters' sides to learn everything she knew of baking breads. More often than not it was his elder sisters, both of them who did the kitchen work and left him with his younger sisters to keep out of trouble. This often led to dressing up in their mother's dresses when she wasn't looking, and playing with dolls and sharing beauty and hair tips that his sisters had goten from their friends. By the time he hit his early teens, he'd been easily confused among his sisters as his mother's "other daughter" and accepted into their ring of girlfriends to gossip about which of the boys in the Hold was the most attractive.
When his parents started to worry about his mental and physcal being after the influence of so many females in his life, Ali was nearly fifteen. Before his father had the chance to toughen his girlish son up, a Blue rider was out on a Search and their portion of the Hold was out in numbers. His parents were hopeful that one of his sisters would be Searched out and have a shot at Impressing to a Gold someday, though they like most Holdfolks had a less than positive attitude about Dragonriders. Glad that none of his sisters were Searched out of their group, so that he wouldn't have to see any of them off, Ali was more than shocked, along with his parents, that he was. And doubly so that the rider even could tell he was a boy. He was just about to decide he didn't want to go and leave his sisters, but his father urged him to go, figuring that an enviromnent less feminine would do the boy some good at losing this standing of his. Ali adjusted fairly well to Weyrlife and his sudden surrounding of males as well as females, instantly connecting with some of the younger female candidates who had been there a turn or longer to get into synch with the gossip and way things worked. He was usually assigned to kitchen chores, where he could listen in and gather some more gossip to share back with the girls. He's stood for three turns without Impressing, but has had the joy of seeing many of his girlfriends Impress to their dragons and keeps in touch when he can see them to get a little of the Rider gossip and any new tips they might have for him.
Pets: None
Other/Talents: He's got no problems at all being srrounded by other girls.. seeing asfor most of his life he did see himself as one just like them, but around boys, without another girl in the room with him to use as a crutch, he's pretty helpless and can't quite form a whole sentence from his lack of male socialization.
