I'm sure some of you are aware of the recent actions submitted by the federal government, right?

I'll list the topics and skim the surface one by one:

- AIG
- GM and Chrysler
- Education
- 'Racism'
- Ethics

There's more, but this is all I can remember at the moment, lol


Okay, moving on- heard about AIG?? As of now, the federal government owns 80% of AIG stocks and is now controlling the banks. I'd elaborate on this more, but I'm not as familiar with this issue as others. sweatdrop


GM and Chrysler- the bailout plan provided to these auto companies was supposed to help them fix their financial troubles, not bejewel their filing cabinet or gold-pave their vacation jacuzzis. The federal government ordered the head of GM to establish a plan to fix his problems, but when he didn't bring his plan up to government par...He as booted. They, that is the government, threw some schmuck in and gave him 60 days to propose a new plan. As for Chrysler, they have 30 days.

Because the government had paid away these companies' troubles, they naturally assumed it their right to manipulate these unfortunate inferiors to their tune. This is kinda what happened to AIG- the government bought the stocks and basically became the owner of one of our biggest banks. In other words, the government is beginning to control the major industries.

Hmm, I smell socialist snickerdoodles, don't you?


Education- Obama's new plan includes the raising of the literacy bar. He wants America to reclaim bragging rights and snag the highest literacy percentage title. Because, yeah, the world leaders have enough time outside screwing the economy to count how many of us can read.

Now, Obama's idea to enforce this is to eliminate high school dropouts in order to raise the literacy level, because we all know that reading is impossible until at least your senior year, not the rumored 2nd or 3rd grade. There's also a possibility he will make college degrees a must, tossing aside the last senior-reader idea and enforcing the other idea that we can't read until college. Wow, I must be a genius, then.

Just think, though- what about all the people who already have jobs without degrees and diplomas? Are they gonna be shipped back to Mrs. Keever's class for English 12? Of course not! We already confirmed that reading is impossible until senior year, so there's no such thing as English 12! We have How To Read 1, instead!! Don't forget your elective Government Drone 101, too!

Obama's talking to a lost cause- his little bar, the bar he expects us to reach, is gonna only end up being lowered just enough to accommodate all people. People won't raise themselves to reach it; it will lower itself to reach the people.

Thank you, Obama. I don't know how to read yet, but I can already feel the government ego preparing to swell. How proud will Papa Washington feel when he sees we won the Hey! Lookie, We Can Read!! Award, again?


Racism- Obama plans to make it a hate crime if a priest slanders gay people in church. If I make a black joke, I can get arrested, his little plan basically says.

Wow.

Geez, the government needs to grow up if it's gonna imprison people for calling each other names. It's like sandbox war over here- Jimmy called Susan a white lesbian and Susan called him a Jew. Let's throw them in jail!

My grandmother, whom I sometimes suspect to be racist herself, always told me when I was a kid- if it doesn't bleed, it doesn't hurt.

How cowardly are we as a country that we punish each other every time we hurt each other's feelings? Crap, this country is run by adults, too!

Ethics- in his recent speech about stem cell research, Obama said that 'ethics shouldn't hinder science.' It's not exactly what he said, but that's what you get once you strip away the fancy I-think-I'm-smart-but-someone-else-wrote-my-speech crap.

In other words, we've just been told that our opinions of right and wrong shouldn't get in the way of our actions. Screw my heart, I'm gonna paint my principal's office blue because I want to study the relationship between him screaming and him getting a heart attack.

All in the name of science, right?


I've barely scratched what's going on, here, so feel free to elaborate or vindicate.

I guess that's going to set the tone for the rest of this post. Sorry if I'm harsh.



The government did what any other entity in its position would do. The automobile industry basically created the middle class, the very backbone of our society. My question to you is this-- would you like your only choices to be Japanese, Chinese, and Korean? Because Europe has never really had a mid-level market here. Luxury, that's all. And with the massive amount of jobs that would be lost by the collapse of the American Auto industry, do you think ANYONE would have enough money for them?
Sadly, there are abuses of powers and financial backing. It's unfortunate-- the government gave this money in good faith that it would be used to reform and re-work the business model of these companies, and they squandered it. I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. And by the by? Obama didn't single-handedly oust the head of GM. He "called for his resignation", which means he said "You really ought to step down, you're obviously not doing what needs to be done" and he, of his own free will, tended his resignation. There's a difference.



I'm not even sure you understand the basic facets of socialism. This doubt, of course, is doubled by the fact that you followed it with "snickerdoodles." Companies are not "unfortunate inferiors." They begged the government for help, help was granted, and they by in large threw away the opportunity. Case in point-- Ford. They were a part of the "Big 3" proceedings, but only as a representative of the industry. Try to wrap your head around this. They were there appealing to the government along with, and FOR, their competition. That's how important the existence of the auto industry is. They accepted 0 bailout money, and they're successfully reworking their company model with more efficient, safe vehicles while the other two continue to struggle because they want to keep on the same path that brought them to the brink of failure. It's much the same with banks. Executives are used to a lifestyle of excess-- they feel entitled to it. If you want to blame someone, blame those who abused the help the goverment gave them.






So you're saying it's going to be more of the same. The way we've been pushing down the bar of success for decades to accomadate laziness and voluntary ignorance. The only thing that can make a plan of "raising the bar" work is the will of the people. If they set the bar and refuse to lower it, people WILL rise to the challenge. Unless you really believe the majority of America's youth to be uneducted, incapable, and largely useless.

Don't really have the time or energy to pick apart the racism bit, bit by bit. Suffice it to say that I'm a news junkie of the highest order and I've never, not once heard of a plan to criminalize SPEECH. Go ahead and link me to that, from a reputable source. I'd be amazed.



If you knew anything about anything, you'd know how ridiculous this argument is. He never said anything even remotely pointing to "ethics shouldn't hinder science." Ethics are always a concern. The ultimate point, however, is this. People create embryos for implantation at a later date. Not the government, not science labs with beakers and rogue sperm-- people. Not all of these embryos are used, and are scheduled for destruction. Are you of the opinion that these embryos should be thrown out, without study, analysis, or use? Or do you think that implantation should be mandatory, because, you know, they're potential lives and absolutely have to be born. Do we make baby factories, akin to puppy farms?

No, of course not. These embryos are going to be destroyed no matter what anyone has to say about it, and I don't see why we shouldn't do necessary research with said embryos. It's not as if we're taking live infants and running them through a meat grinder.

I think that's enough elaboration for now. Respond if you want, or don't. I'm always up for a debate/discussion.

i dont think he should pull our troops out of iraq or afganstan.
it will only cause us more shiit.
for example, terriost will be HORRIBLE if our troops get pulled out this early.
and i love our troops that are fighting for us but still. if we pull our troops out we can lose even more lives.
