"Daddy! Daddy did you get the stuff?!" Said as she was jumping around her father as he was trying to come into the house, carrying some bags. Of course her excitement left her oblivious to how difficult she was making things for her father. She was so excited! Mommy and daddy had agreed to let her friends come over for a slumber party!
"Yes Lici, I got everything." Not that they needed anything extra but he had to make a trip to the store as well. At least it was the weekend, which meant that he didn't have classes tonight, Sam was home, and the kids would be occupied. That all equaled to a pretty fantastic evening. "You're still not eating junk for dinner just because people are over either." Handing her a paper bag, "Go take that to the kitchen." Following into the kitchen he turned a look over to Sam who was busy setting up the next week's schedule. "Tell me again why I had to go buy things that I didn't need to buy."
((I'll let Stars describe the house in her post.))

The kitchen was enormous since Xearus rather enjoyed cooking and when Serafina came to visit, she expected to have the same size kitchen she had at home. Sam was sitting at the bar that ran along the opposite counter writing on the schedule board in erasable marker. "Because you love me and I asked you to? Or because Lici wans this to be a real slumber party with chips and soda and all the stuff we don't normally have in the house. Take your pick." Hanging the now-finished board on the hook on the wall, she hopped off the barstool and took the bag from her daughter and began putting things away. "Remember what I said, Lici. Your room has to be clean or they won't be coming."
Thobias was grumbling as he swept the duster over the TV in th living room. He'd already dusted the family room and all the six thousand knickknacks and crap his mother had everywhere. Next was the dining room and then upstairs to make sure his room was clean. The downstairs was made up of a large living room, fairly large family room that then led into the kitchen where one table was set up at the breakfast nook and through a set of swinging doors to the formal dining room where the big table they only used on special occasions and when company was visiting. The family room led out to the backyard through a sliding glass door where the Calder's had a huge backyard with a pool, swingset, treehouse, trampoline, and various other toys they'd added to their collection over the years.
And mom wanted every single shelf, picture, and book in that downstairs dusted. On the other side of the kitchen was a small hallway that led down to a guest room and bathroom and his parent's studies which were connected through a door but both could be closed off from the rest of the house. Upstairs there were four bedrooms: the one he shared with Lici, the huge Master at the back of the hall and then two guest rooms in between. "Mo-om. How come two girls are coming?"

Since Japi didn't own a car and it would be somewhat dangerous to just appear randomly out of a mirror at Felicity's house, she decided to walk the girls there from a safe mirror location. (Japi had located several places around Gaia that had mirrored surfaces in seldom used locations to facilitate her method of transportation.)
The family was in shape enough, and the house wasn't far from the location, so neither girl complained. Japi was a little relieved.
"You two excited for your very first slumber party?" she asked them.
"Yes Mommy!" Lilly chirped, swinging her mother's arm as she clutched her hand.
Addy was excited too, though she didn't want to admit it. It was pretty evident by the fact that she wasn't sulking the entire way to the house.
"Just call me on the mirror if you get scared," she reminded them.
"Mo~om," Addy whined. "We're not gonna get scared." She crossed her arms as they walked. Well, at least I won't get scared, even if Lilly does.
Lilly laughed. "Don't worry Mommy. If Addy get's scared, I'll protect her."
Addy glared at her sister.
"Now behave you two," Japi scolded. "Look we're here."
The girls' friend's house was before them. Japi checked the paper for the address, just in case, and confirmed that it was correct before walking up to the door and giving it a firm knock.

“I’ll take them both.” This was the start of things to come, he knew that much. Slumber parties, birthdays, all those social functions that came with kids getting older. And it would only get worse as they got older too. Ah to be a child again. Putting away what he had he folded up the paper bag and stuck it with the rest they held onto before crouching down to scratch at Caprice. “Are we going to have to put the dogs away?” Not that they’d enjoy that at all. However a look over to his son. "Next time you can have some of your guys over." Or whatever it is kids these days did.
“It’s clean! It’s sparkly clean!” Un-needed amount of volume but she was excited and couldn’t help herself…and literally bounced in place as her mother took things from her to put away. Her attention came to her not so enthused brother, not that it dampened her mood any. “Because they’re our friends, silly. Just because they’re girls don’t mean nothing. You can have fun too.” Of course at this age…slumber party meant everyone was invited, regardless of gender and such things that adults thought about. Cue another squeal of excitment and tugging at her mother incessantly. "Mommy! Door! They're here!" Because she wasn't supposed to open the door.

"I don't think so. They usually get along with the children but we'll see how it goes. If we have to, we can always lock them in our room or the kitchen, but I don't want to see you fall over baby gates again." Patting her husband's shoulder as she passed and heading to the door. Still in scrubs from work, she headed to the door with Lici hot on her heels. It took a moment to unlock and unbolt but soon she was smiling at the three faces on the other side. "Hi Japi. Girls. Come on in. Have you eaten dinner already?"
They might be his friends too but that didn't mean he was thrilled about being around three girls all night and into tomorrow. He reached down to scratch Mercury who had nosed under his arm for a pet and then trudged out to stand near his mother as he knew was expected. "Hi."

"No ma'am," Lilly answered, twisting her fingers in the fringe of her dress with nervous energy.
"Hello," Japi smiled as she and the girls entered the house. "Thank you so much for inviting them," she continued, bowing, then as an afterthought, held out her hand in a secondary greeting, just in case.
Addy looked around and saw Toby and the dog. "Can I pet him?" she asked.

"Har har, always the baby gates." Granted the dogs were big enough to jump over said gates, they just didn't because they knew the stay behind them and behave. Giving the other dog a final pet he wandered over some as well to be nice, giving Japi a grin and that customary handshake that came with greetings. "We're happy to have them." Clapping his son on the back lightly to perk him up some.
"You're here!" Grown-ups more or less ignored in excitment as she hugged both of the other twins at once and then took back to her excited bouncing. "Mommy said we can have pizza for dinner." If course that was okay but hey she was excited and really didn't care how things were supposed to be and not supposed to be.

Sam took the offered hand and shook it gently then ushered the two young girls and their mother inside. Echoing her husband's sentiments, she closed the door and gave the girls a smile. "Why don't you two go with Lici and set your things down in the bedroom and we'll get your dinner." Turning to Japi. "You're welcome to stay for dinner as well if you like. Xearus is making his special pasta since we're grownups and don't want pizza."
Thobias blinked at Addy and then grinned. "Sure. He won't bite you either." The lab was more than happy to have another set of hands in reach and barked enthusiastically before walking over and pushing his nose against her chest.

Addy grinned widely and draped her arms around the big dog, scratching behind his ears vigorously. She loved animals, and the bigger the better. "Rrr, rrr, rrr," she made noises like she was talking to the dog in his own language.
Lilly was busy jumping up and down with Lici. "I like pizza, 'specially the tomato sauce," she squealed excitedly.
Japi smiled at her daughters. They looked like they would be just fine. "If there's a problem," Japi started a moment and then hesitated. She hadn't thought about explaining how to get in contact with her. She didn't carry a phone, though more and more she was thinking she should probably get one. "If there's a problem, you can contact me on the girls' mirror," she whispered to the mother. She really hoped Samantha wouldn't be shocked. Their children did meet at a school for 'gifted' children.

"Yeah yeah always making me cook." Rolling his eyes playfully before giving a light nod to Japi, "No worries, they'll be fine. They'll stay up too late, have too much sugar and soda, and probably scare themselves with ghost stories, but they'll be fine. Come on kids, everyone to the kitchen." Ushering all four of them, and Mercury to the kitchen where Caprice was lying on the floor patiently.
Lici and Lilly had made off down the hallway to put things in her and her brother's room before they had hopped down the hallway back to the parents, only to be coralled by her father. "We didn't order it, daddy made it. And daddy makes it with LOTS of sauce."

Sam was extremely good at hiding her surprise in situations like these so it was easy not to blink an eyelash at that whispered sentence. "That's not a problem. I'm sure we'll either figure it out or the girls can help us if we need to. If it gives you any peace of mind at all, I am a doctor. But it shouldn't matter because they're both going to be fine. Don't worry about picking them up early tomorrow either. I'm happy to let them sleep in and give you some time to yourself."
Thobias watched her, rather fascinated, as Mercury responded with snuffly puppy kisses of his own. He sat back on his haunches and barked once then happily clicked his way to the kitchen, nuzzling Caprice and lying down beside her. He offered Addy a shy smile. "My daddy makes really good pizza. His family invented it."

Lilly followed her friend closely. "Food's always better when family makes it."
She hopped up on a stool at the bar to get a better view of the kitchen. It was big like the one at home where her mom and Uncle Sekenre did a lot of cooking together. It must mean Lici's daddy was a good chef too.
"Cool," Addy replied to Toby. "I'm already hungry." She tried to seem uninterested as usual, but she was acutally kind of interested in trying a new recipe. Maybe Uncle Sekenre had made that impression on her after all, not that she'd actually admit it.
Regardless, she followed the rest into the kitchen with a bit of unconcealable excitement in her step.
Japi was glad her comment went over well and equally glad to see the girls were already settling in. "Behave you two," she called after them. "I'm sure it'll all go well. I'll come get them in the afternoon then. Thanks again."
She figured it would be best if she left now, so Japi waved to anyone still left in the living room and walked back down the sidewalk. "Bye bye."

"We don't eat out stuff a lot. Mommy says it's too greasy and bad for us...or something." More of their parents were health food junkies save the occassional carton of ice cream and bag of cheese puffs. Joining her friend at the bar, she promptly took to pointing things out to both girls. "The yellow dog is Mercury, and the black and brown one is Caprice. They sleep in our room at night to keep the bad things away. They're really good, and know tricks!"
He was already moving around the kitchen, stepping over dogs who knew better than to move and trip him up as he went about his thing, they knew the routine. A look over his shoulder to the two blondes as he uncuffed his sleeves and was rolling them up. "Do you two like anything special on your pizza?"

"Bye, Japi. They'll be just fine." Closing and locking the door, Sam was last to enter the kitchen and began pulling out the ingredients for the pasta her husband would be making for the two of them. Picky kids liked pizza and that was all. Although they would eat normal spaghetti with meatballs and sauce which made Serafina, the children's grandmother, happy. "Xearus, are you making marinara or alfredo sauce tonight?"
"My dad's a really good cook. Much better than mama. She makes waffles in the toaster." Making a face at that. "Lici and I want pepperoni, cheese, and olives!" Then glancing at Addy. "Do you like olives?"

Lilly took a moment to reach down and pet the dogs. "Hi."
"I eat anything," Addy replied in her usual matter of fact tone. To illustrate she put her hands in front of her mouth and made loud chomping noises as though she were eating. She swayed back and forth with each chomp and grinned widely, showing that there was 'nothing left' in her hands.
Lilly laughed at her sister and then thought a moment about what she'd like on her pizza. "Do you gots mushrooms?" she asked. "It's okay if you don't," she added. She didn't want to be too demanding after all.
