Sylvester strolled around his little patch of garden, the one his friend Ellie gave him when he was only a little kid. But now, instead of an empty patch of dirt, it was very fruitful, and filled with delicious berries, raspberries, blueberries, and any other berries he could possibly think of! And of course strawberries, the first fruit he had ever tasted, given to him by Ellie... He waited for her to come along and tend to her garden as she did since he was a child. They did it together for as long back as he could remember.
But now, as an adult, he didn't only feel the child-like playful love, he felt something else as well. It was an alien feeling that developed when he started adolescence, and he deeply hopes this feeling is mutual.

"Eeee!" Ellie squealed as she ran over. "Your garden looks so pretty now! You did really nice work!" she said as she kneeled down and looked at some strawberries in his garden. "They look so happy..." she murmured as she closed her eyes, taking in the delicious smells of the garden in bloom.
Of course, she had her own garden nearby, but it was exciting seeing someone else's work, it was almost a work of art, the way she taught Sylvester to raise a garden. She remembered how they spent all the time together, playing, eating and getting dirty working hard.

Sylvester turned around when he heard Ellie's voice, "Oh! Hello Ellie!" He blushed as red as the raspberries he had grown, he hated blushing, but apparently Ellie likes it so he doesn't mind too much anymore, "Thank you! But it could never look as beautiful as yours..." He looked at Ellie's garden, which looked a lot bigger and a lot better than his.
"So..." Sylvester started, "how are you doing, Ellie?" He asked. Asking how she was doing was never hard when he was a child, stupid hormones. When he was a baby, he could run up and embrace her legs without feeling awkward. Now? not so much.

"Heya Sylvie! Ellie is good, her strawberries are very happy playing with the sun now that's bright again. They even started making baby runners! That means even more strawberries~" she said, her eyes shining brightly. "And thanks!" she said, nodding. It was the only thing she was really good at, gardening. She put her heart and soul into her gardens, and especially into her strawberries. "How is my Sylvie?" she asked. He seemed to have gotten pretty quiet after he got older, something about 'homonyms', is what 'Nica said.

The thought of more strawberries made Sylvester very happy, "More strawberries? That's great!" When Ellie asked how he was, Sylvester was wondering if he should tell Ellie what was going on, "I'm pretty good, my garden is happy, and I'm happy that you're doing well also!" He paused for a bit, "Ellie, I would like to tell you something..." He started slowly.

Ellie nodded happily. "That's good too! Happy gardens make for happy Ellies!" She grinned. "Hm, what's it that you wanna tell me?" she said, tilting her head. Another homonym thing? 'Nica was so confusing sometimes...

Sylvester continued, "I well, I was just wanting to tell you..." Sylvester closed his eyes for a bit, "I, er... Wanted to extend my garden a little bit more if that's okay with you?" Sylvester sighed, he was such a chicken! He nearly bit his tongue for it, but decided not to. maybe it would be easier to confess his feelings when he was working in the gardens with together? "And I got a few more berry seeds, would you like to plant them? I think it's warm enough to plant more again..." Sylvester trailed off, "If you would like, that is?" he took a few cranberry seeds from his pocket and offered a bunch to Ellie.

Ellie grinned. "Sure, I'd love to!" she said took a few seeds from him. "ooh, they look so cute!" she said looking at the seeds. "We'll have to make sure we plant these a bit lower than the rest of your berries, because when you harvest 'em you have to flood them a bit., and we don't want to damage any other plant's roots. Or we could dry-pick them come fall, I guess." she said, smiling. "But you can do so much with cranberries, make jellies, juice, wine..."

"Jellies and juice and wine? Yummy!" Sylvester chuckled, taking a small shovel, and handing another one to Ellie, "Shall we get started, Ellie?" He smiled at her, "W-we can always extend my garden later..." He said, immediately regretting not telling her and making up a stupid excuse instead. He knelt down and started poking at the soil.

"Ellie is always ready for gardening things!" she said happily. "Hm, we could always wait, but it be harder to overturn the soil when it gets hard in the summer and fall." she said, and she kneeled and pulled out her small spade, and began to dig the soil a bit. "There's always things to do with berries, anyway. Maybe one day I could make a fruit salad with all the berries I have saved!"

Just the thought of fruit salad made Sylvester's mouth water. But then he decided the longer he dragged telling her, the more awkward it would be, he dug his little shovel into the ground a bit more, making a row for the cranberry seeds, "Ellie, I don't really care about extending my garden," He thought about that for a bit, "Actually, it would be nice but... That's not the point!" He wanted to smack himself on the head, but that wouldn't be a very flattering thing to do, "I have something I really want to tell you!" He moved a little, tiny bit closer to Ellie and looked directly at her, suddenly blushing as red as a beet.

Ellie dropped her spade. "Oh... Well, we can do that later, I guess..." she mumbled, kinda confused at this point. "What do you wanna tell me, Sylvie?" She tilted her head and looked at him, he was absolutely red, so it must be really important, she figured.

Sylvester sighed, "Ellie, you were always my best friend since I was only a little baby..." Sylvester tried to find a way to explain this so he didn't sound either desperate or creepy, "But now, I think it goes a little farther than that..." He sucked his breath in, here goes... "I think I love you Ellie," Sylvester paused, "No... I know I love you, and if you don't feel the same way, I hope this won't go in the way of a life long friendship," He felt a brief sensation of relief, but it didn't last long. How will she react to this? He hopes he won't lose a life-long friend. He tried to search her face for an answer, but it was hard when he was all tense inside.

Ellie blushed. It was the first time anyone had said they loved her like that. Sure, 'Nica said it once or twice when they were kids, but it was more of a condescending tone, laughing at her because she was so silly. And she had never loved another Noct, other than her mother/sister/friend 'Nica. So she couldn't the differences too well. She wanted to spend time with Sylvie, she wanted him to be near, but was that not the same for Monica? Maybe it wasn't, though after all. She pouted and bit her lip. "You're my best friend too Sylvie. You were the only one who was actually interested in my garden, and wanted to learn. You made me feel important and special, like I had a better purpose than being 'Nica's pet, and her gardener. Like I could do more. 'Nica always made me feel a bit less than what I felt I should have been, you know?" She sighed, then giggled. "And now you're all big and we're sitting in the gardens and you tell me you love me, and I'm sitting here with a million thoughts going through my head, and the only thing I really want to know out of all those things is do I love you back?" She picked a strawberry out of her pocket and played with it. "And then I start to think about Acheron and Soteria and Frankie and Canada and Xukuth and Ca, and I know that I'd really like that too, but only as Ellie and Sylvester." she said, smiling as she put the strawberry in her mouth.
[[Jesus, I think that's the most she will ever say in one sitting. Ever. xD]]

Sylvester smiled, eyes gleaming, "I-I-I don't know what to say, I-" He stuttered, "I'm so glad you feel the same way, you don't know how much you mean to me Ellie," His smile widened, he couldn't say much more, the only thing ringing in his head was she loves me! She really loves me too! It was quite a sensation for him, "Yes, I'd like that as well, for the both of us, both of us together!" His tongue couldn't translate the feeling he had, so he decided not to say much more, and he spread his arms out and hugged Ellie, "You're really cute when you blush as well..." He said, his own shade of pink not fading at all.
