Name: Shaiya Terrwen
Gender: Female
Birthdate: February 14, AL 90
Age: 19
Patrol: New Eve
Rank: Apprentice
Appearance:
Shaiya looks like your ordinary shy and sweet girl, of a small stature barely reaching 5'2" and unlikely to grow any taller. At first glance she doesn't really stand out and might not even be noticed, easily blending into the background. But upon closer inspection, most notice that she has a very cute and girly air about her, oval face framed by short straight strawberry blonde hair and matched by a pair of golden amber eyes that sparkle with kindness. Her small frame is not without the feminine curves that define her gender, but she is easily underestimated because of that. But in fact, Shaiya has built lean muscles over the past couple of years training and she is stronger than she looks, and more agile than most.
Personality:
Shaiya is one of those really shy and timid girls that most people don't notice, especially since she's very quiet and rarely ever speaks out, but she always tries to be polite and respectful. When she does, her voice is soft and uncertain, noticeably shrinking away when others turn their attention to her. She's not exactly antisocial either since she actually enjoys being with groups of people and listening to others talk, laughing along with their jokes and stories. But that's all she does, stand around and listen, rarely talking because she's slightly afraid of having so many eyes on her at once. When she is asked to speak, she usually does so in a nervous and uncertain manner, often coming off as awkward.
In a one-on-one setting Shaiya is much more talkative, her kind and friendly nature shining through despite the small hint of shyness that never really disappears. When subject of things she likes is brought up, such as animals or cultural history, she will actually start rambling until she realizes and stops herself. But she is as sweet as anyone can be, never one to insult another and always trying to be understanding and encouraging. For all her timidness, Shaiya is one very determined person, extremely hard-working and diligent in her tasks. She strives to be accepted by her peers, and knowing that she is not naturally as talented or experienced as most of them, she works exceedingly hard to keep up. So when she sets her mind to accomplish a goal, she usually does - but she never tries to do something that she knows is completely out of her reach.
History:
Shaiya was born to an elderly couple of the City. Her parents had always wanted a child but knew that the chance was slim, so they were ecstatic when Shaiya was conceived when the couple was in their late 40's. As her father was a painter and her mother a waitress, Shaiya did not grow up with a lot of luxuries, which in turn taught her to be humble and hard-working. She was taught to work for her earnings but also to be kind to everyone, and help those less fortunate than her if she had the means. So she always tried to help her parents wherever she could, usually by doing chores around the house that her parents were too busy to do.
Since a young age, Shaiya had always been extremely fond of animals. She always brought in stray or injured animals to care for in their home, usually releasing the wild ones or adopting the lost pets to good families. She had hoped to one day become a veterinarian, working hard to study anatomy and medicine in school. But Shaiya was also very interested in cultural histories, looking for extra classes to take as well as books that covered the different countries and traditions of the old world. Whenever she came across a person or family that were still in touch with their ancestral roots, she would start into a ramble of questions about what they knew and what they still practiced.
At the brink of her teenage years, Shaiya's mother caught a cold but fell deathly ill because of her old age, and eventually passed away. Her father was even older and fared no better, and soon died as well when she was 12. But on his death bed, her father told her that he wanted her to live a better life than they had, asking that she enroll into the Academy and try to become one of the great wolfriders that protected them. Shaiya promised that she would and that she would work her hardest to become a wolfrider. And so she enrolled into the Academy, working hard but only managing to be average in comparison to the other recruits.
Nevertheless, Shaiya remained optimistic and her hard work paid off when she was deemed ready to bond at 18. But her first year came and went, and four opportunities passed her by. Many other recruits were dejected, but she was already happy that she had even made it this far when so many others had failed. And she knew that she still had three more years to bond. However, to Shaiya's surprise, she bonded to a male pup just days before her 19th birthday. For the young wolf's bright colors and exuberant personality, she named him Sunchaser. The newly bonded pair soon transferred to New Eve, under the patronage of Daiyu Li and Zephyr.
