Kanani sighed as she stood in the small meadow, not far from the edge of the Kawani Forest. Her eyes took in the sight of the open fields beyond the thin ring of trees, then took to the skies above. How could the forest feel so lonely, even on beautiful days such as this one? Of course, it had been many days since she had seen her mate, Crisanto. He seemed to be gone somewhere, perhaps exploring, or taking wing to the open skies. If only she could do the same...
A slight noise roused her from her thoughtfulness, and her ears perked forwards towards the crack of a small twig, or perhaps the displacement of a tiny stone. Whatever it was, she knew it was there, and was prepared to flee if need be. Thankfully, the Cerynei were blessed with the agility and speed of their deer cousins. If this was a predator, she would be gone in no time.
Of course, there seemed to be no hostility in the air. Perhaps... this was not a threat?

 Brian had been stepping on twigs and in puddles for fun.He didn't even notice the deer looking mare near by.Trotting and messing around with the birds he enjoyed his time alone.Though his did also miss his mate,Lorraine.It had been ages since he had last seen her.Looking around as he started to low down he noticed the mare.She was very pretty,pretty black feather,and she looked like a deer.This was his first incounter with any kind of this sort.Watching her move around he pinned his ears back going into protective mode.Brian didn't know if she was nice,or like a Skinwalker.Heck if he knew.

Kanani turned her head to see the dark stallion standing not far from where she was, looking just as defensive as she felt. For a moment, she took his flat ears and tense stance as a warning, and her muscles twitched as they did before she sprinted. But something in his expression, in his amazing violet eyes, told her that perhaps he was only afraid, as she was. Perhaps she should be brave and make the first move, as her father had always told her to.
She took a cautious step forward, her ears turned forward in curiosity, and murmured, "Hello?" Her voice was calm and soothing, as smooth as a river-worn stone. Many said that she had a healer's voice, something that went along quite well with her healing skills.
"Well, you needn't be afraid of me, I suppose. You look as if you've never seen one of my kind before." She was close now, almost right in front of him. With each step she gained more confidence, and began to believe that this Soquili was as gentle as she, and only frightened. It was her way to calm him, the way of a healer.
"It's alright," she said, giving a soft smile. "I'm a Cerynei, from the burning lands. Though this isn't quite like home, I can say that it is quite nice not having fire all around you."

Brian let his ears come up and he still was in defence mode.He started to walk towards her slowly."H...h..."Brian jumpped back as she started to come towards him."I....I...h...h...haven't."He took in her quiet and gentalness she had.Why was she so nice towards him.Blinking a couple times,he tilted his head side ways."Y..y...your not going to hurt me?"He left his guard down and watched her.His body became untense and unsure about this mare.Brian reached his neck out to sniff her hoof.He kept an eye on this mare.
He was scared of her.She was different.He had never met any other kinds before.Only has met normals.She,she was different.She seems nice and gental towards him."I....I'm...Brian...W...Who are you?"

Kanani's smile brightened at his unsure voice. Sure, he was a bit scared; but there was no hostility in this Soquili.
She watched quietly as he sniffed her hoof, being careful not to startle him. She had met so many strange Soquili in these new lands, and had no desire to frighten one that at least seemed capable of friendship. She kept her ground and softly laughed as he looked back up at her, her long, braided hair bouncing with the gentle movement.
"Of course I won't hurt you. Do I look capable of such a thing?" she asked playfully, swatting her fluffy tail around behind her. Then she took on a softer, more serious tone, and said, "We Cerynei are creatures of peace. I'd never hurt a Soquili cousin."
Moving slowly, she gently nudged his neck with her velvet-like nose, then stood back and smiled. "See? Harmless. Besides, I thought that you were the enemy, if only for a moment. By the way, my name is Kanani. You may call me Kana, if you'd like."

Brian laughed lightly.He started to blink and got confused when she nudged him.He pinnied his ears back but then noticed she was harmless."I...wouldn't hurt anyone.I oculdn't ever.I don't know why those nasty skinwalkers can do that type of thing."He started to warm up to her."I really like your ears and tail."Brian raised his head to her ears and sniffed them.Nudging the one he jumped back lightly."They are like mine.Just more bigger,right?"He was very intrested in this mare.She was different.Hopefully going to be a friend.

"Skinwalkers?" Kanani asked, confused, but left her question with a quick shake of her head. This new land was so full of strange and new things... she'd simply have to learn about them on her own.
She giggled lightly as Brian sniffed her sensitive ears, and nodded at his question. "Yes, they are like yours. A bit bigger and furrier, I suppose. But they most likely have better hearing than yours, seeing as my race is related to forest deer. My senses are heightened, if only slightly, as a defense mechanism." She pointed to an acorn, hanging on a low branch above their heads, with her nose. "Do you see that? And how it's knocking against the bark because of the breeze? I can hear it. It's almost inaudible, but still, I can hear it, like a whisper."
She then looked back at the stallion, and a smirk came to her fair face. "I can also run very fast... if you were wondering."

"Your different.How did you get here?Did people bring you here?"He wondered all of these things about her.She was different.But,her different meaning a beautiful way."I'm not trying to be mean but you are the most intresting soquili I know.What is your kind called?"He then listened to her."Yes.Skinwalkers,they are actually very mean soquili,they like to eat the flesh of their own kind and even other soquili.They like to pick on foals when they are in their baskets."Brian looked up to the acorn."Thats weird.Very weird,"He sniffed her ears and bumped them."How can you hear it and I cannot?"
