So, for my Grade 11 year of school I've applied for the Military Co-op Course in the second semester. I've got to go to a mandatory information night on April 14th, and I won't know for a while if I've actually made it.
But the course comes with a great bonus: Because of insurance and what not, the people who get accepted make $3500 gross during the course! That, and if you successfully complete the course, you're guaranteed a summer job that'll earn you another $3500 gross. (Much better than cadet camps or a summer job pays, plus they feed you on base).
Unfortunately, they don't have an air force co-op, since we don't have an air force base nearby and everything in the air force you basically need some sort of degree for. But in the military co-op, you have a choice of infantry or artillery, and I think my counsellor signed me up for artillery, but I think I might try and switch to infantry, since I'm a pretty good shot. (Wait, do artillery kids get to play with tanks?)
So, anyone else thinking about Military Co-op or Reserve Forces? Apparently where I'm applying (The Lincoln and Welland Regiment & the 56 Field Regiment) run the longest running Military Co-op. The Lincoln & Welland were actually the Butler's Rangers, if they teach you guys that about the War of 1812.
So, Military Co-op, anyone?
