User ImageTamba had certainly taken to being a guard again since the disappearance of his daughter Siyasura. He couldn't let go of his failings as a father, that she slipped away so easily. Perhaps he was perched here, on a tall peak that overlooked much of their slice of the plains, in a continued hope that she might wander back. That he'd find her again and keep her safe.

In a pose that was more resigned than alert, Tamba's head lay on his crossed paws, eyes outward but slightly unfocused. His nose was still working though, and he caught the scent of someone unfamiliar. How could he tall? Most lions in the Bahari developed a slightly 'salty' or 'seaweed' smell from the items they wore or the amount of time spent swimming in the cove or estuary. He could scent-pick them out of a group of 20.

This was someone new. His head perked up and he began scanning the immediate area of plains for life.

((I got permission from Caj to God-mod Timka for the RP [He's mostly just gonna hide behind Kip lol] ))

Akkomiakattar, Kipendo, and Timka had fallen behind from the main group. Timka wasn't used to traveling such long distances and Akko didn't want to leave the hare's behind. They were close enough to the ocean that the lioness could smell it, so she gave the others the go-ahead to go on without them. She was sure they could catch up without a problem.

That was what they were doing now, the trio was traversing the lands following Akko's nose towards the salty smell of the ocean. The lioness could hear Kipendo murmuring to her kit, telling him they'd be there soon. Akko hoped they would, her paws were beginning to hurt and she was getting tired as well.

Suddenly the light breeze changed directions bringing new scents to her nose. "Wait," After she spoke Akko stopped walking lifting her head and scenting the air again. She smelled another lion. "Kip, you and Timka get behind me." She was hoping that they had finally reached their destination but there was no way to know who they'd be running into. If it was a hunting party she didn't want either hare to become lunch.

Coming over a small bump in the earth the lioness looked around and was at once captivated by the sparkle of the ocean in the distance. Even though she couldn't see it clearly yet she was still captivated, standing still for once in her life. She had even forgotten about the lion she had smelled.

Tamba continued to watch, like a guardian angel, scanning the rest of the area for others and then back to the emerging group. He was perhaps too high up to see the hares clearly but he knew the lion was not alone.

Hopping down from his perch, he began the descent from the rocky mound and approached them with head and posture held high, a sign he was neither aggressive or sullen, even if the latter was a lie. As he got closer, he could see the lion was in fact a lioness, and still a youngster really, and that the two tiny blobs she was conversing with were indeed hares.

So as not to startle the trio too much, he stopped in his approach, just within their eye-line.

"Greetings," he said pleasantly.

The sound of another lion's voice snapped Akko out of her reverie of staring at the glint of the ocean. Blinking she turned gold eyes to the approaching male and smiled. They must have finally reached the pride they were searching for. She glanced down at the two hare's to make sure they were just behind her, which they were. She had the feeling it would be best if she did most of the talking for the moment.

Taking a step forwards she smiled looking at the older male, her tail twitching restlessly. "Hello there." She paused unsure of what to say next, she didn't know if she should mention that she had been traveling with Leboya or her wanting to join the pride. So, instead she decided to confirm that they were in the right place. "Are these the lands of the Bahari'mtoto?"

"They are indeed, and I must confess I'm surprised you know it by name. Most lions drift here for the sea and end up staying by accident, so to speak," he said with a jovial and pleasant tone.

The grief over his lost daughter still cut him to the quick, but he had mastered being able to put on a brave face and be as welcoming as possible. He was making the effort for this unlikely trio.

"My name's Tambuzi," he said with a regal bow. "A pleasure to meet you...all," he said with a welcoming smile to the hares.

sorry about the delay, i've been kinda out of it x.x ))

"Ah, well I was traveling with a group headed this way. A lioness, Leboya, and her family. They spoke of it." She wrapped her tail around her back leg, trying to still it's movement, but the very end continued to twitch slightly. Golden eyes stayed on the male as she stood there a smile on her maw, they had finally made it to the ocean.

She nodded after he bowed unsure of how to properly greet him. "I'm Akkomiakattar, and this" She looked down to the hares, smiling. "is Kipendo and Timka. Kip is usually more talkative but Timka's still young and she has her paws full." Akko laughed silently as Kip turned from her son to look at the male. "Greetings, it's a pleasure." She smiled and then turned back to Timka, murmuring something to him.

Akko looked away from the hares and to the male again. "I, we, would like to join the pride, if possible. We've been traveling for a long time, searching for the ocean."

"You travelled with Leboya? Well then, welcome aboard," he said with enthusiasm. "Its seems she brought quite a few new faces with her."

He nodded to each and then motioned for them to follow him further in to the pride territory.

"How long have you known Leboya?" he asked out of interest. "And you said you've been travelling a long time? Where do you hail from?"

The lioness smiled widely as she was welcomed, it seemed meeting Leboya was a great boon indeed. She wondered if she would be welcome just as eagerly if she hadn't of traveled with the older lioness and her family. At his second statement she chuckled thinking back on their travels. "Yes, it was quite interesting traveling with them all."

As Tambuzi started to walk away she leaned down nudging Kip with her nose. "C'mon Kip, I think we've found our new home." Quickly she hurried after the larger male, walking besides him, the two hare's following after her.

Catching his question she tilted her head thinking on it. "Not overly long, but long enough to make friendships." His second question was easier to answer. "Almost my entire life, my mother and sister's joined a pride when I was younger, but it didn't suit me so I left with Kip. We don't come from anyplace in particular, we've mostly been traversing the rogue lands searching for interesting places."

"So you're quite the wanderer then? Its always good to have those kind of experiences behind you, they can shape you in ways that teaching and stories never will. I travelled in my adolescence, although when I look back, it didn't seem for long enough before I settled here," he chatted quite happily to the younger lioness.

Tamba was walking with a slight stiffness to his limbs, not necessarily from old age but more likely from the hours spent vainly searching for his daughter.

"Has Leboya told you anything about my pride?"

Akko nodded at his words, she and Kip had wandered constantly, never quite finding home. But she had a feeling in her chest now that this was the place they were supposed to be, and so she decided to stay until the feeling left her, if it ever did. "I've had several interesting experiences while traveling and I've tried to learn something from each of them." The brown lioness was enjoying their chat, it was nice to have a new lion to speak to after weeks of traveling with the same group.

Catching his question she nodded slightly. "Yes, but not in so much detail. Mostly that the ocean is very important to your pride." She was silent for a moment before continuing. "But I would like to learn more about the pride." Her tail twitched as they walked, the two hares following silently just behind her.

"Well then, you'll want to learn quickly. Most of it you learn as you go along really, we aren't so strict and zealous as some prides. We try to welcome those from all walks of life, so long as you have a respect for the water. We ask no more than that," he said with a warm smile and friendly tones.

He continued to walk, leading them further in. The gentles and cool sea breeze was just starting to touch them having swept up from the sandy dunes and across this little stretch of plains that acted as their hunting grounds. As they ascended a gentle slope, the beach-cove came into view before them.

Akko nodded as they walked along, soaking up his words. She usually wasn't one to listen intently but she knew this was important and so she was trying her best to focus. Smiling she looked to him. "Oh, yes I hold the ocean in high regard." The lioness still wasn't used to calling it the ocean, she and Kip had been calling it the Great Expanse of Water, or just Great Expanse, for so long it seemed natural.

As they came closer to the waves she lifted her head slightly, scenting the air. The salty tang of the ocean was not what she was used to, but it was nice. As they crested the slope her gold eyes widened, so this was the home of the sea lions. Her eyes flickered over the cove checking it out. "It's very nice, I know we will like it here." She looked at Tambuzi and smiled.

"Good. You'll find its a friendly place, and everything is neatly placed and everyone is helpful," he said with a nod, and then carried on walking, leading the trio down into the hub of the pride, the cove.

The ground beneath their paws gradually turned from soil and grasses, to loamy earth, and finally to soft sand. For those unaccustomed to shifting sands, they could often feel a little 'sea-sick' at first until they got their balance and their paws started to spread. A defining feature of Bahari lions, particularly those born to the lands, were the really large, spreading paws, even on youngsters and delicate females.

Akko smiled, "I'm sure," She nodded as well, following after him. Occasionally she glanced behind her to make sure that Kip and Timka were following, satisfied that they were she would look ahead again.

As the ground seemed to crumbled beneath them Akko stopped short for a moment. She had only encountered sand once before, when she and Kip had traveled to the edge of the Firekin's territory. They didn't spend much time there, barely stepping onto the sands before they left, having a feeling that traveling into the desert would be their death. Now she had to think of how she had walked the one day they had been in the desert. Thinking of something she turned to the hares, Timka hadn't been with them then and he was smaller, she wasn't sure how he'd do on the sands. "Kip, get Timka on my back, I'll carry him for now." She knew the hare would be able to navigate the sands as he grew but as it was he was already scared of all the new sights and sounds so she figured this would expedite the process. It took only a minute or two for Kip to help the kit onto Akko's back, and even though the adolescent wasn't fully grown, Timka was small enough that if she was careful she could balance him.

Trying to duplicate the way she had walked on sand before she slowly followed after Tambuzi, when she caught up she smiled. "I apologize about that, we haven't walked on sand in a long time."

He chuckled softly.

"Nothing to apologise for," she smiled broadly. "A lot of 'land-lions' do need a bit of time to get used to the soft sands but rest-assured, not all of our territory is this soft. As you approach the waters, the sand hardens again and you leave footprints wherever you tread. Quite a beautiful sight really, at the end of the day, to see how many lions have left their mark before the sea washes them away."

He took them to where he mentioned - the water's edge - if only for them to see it in its full glory.

"I can imagine you're all a fair bit tired by now. I can show you to some nice comfortable dens and you can continue your tour of the lands when you're rested. There's always someone close at hand that will show you around."
