Tamu had chosen today to accompany the hunters into the patch of plains that flanked the beach on all sides, more for the fun and spectacle and excitement of watching a hunt. They always brought a kill back to the main area of the pride, near the beach. The carcass could then be left for the sea to claim once everyone had their fill. She stayed behind even after the successful hunt. Between the mass of lions, some sandy, some bright, some blue, they'd felled two large antelope, and some of the adolescents finding their feet bagged several smaller animals. From atop a jutting boulder, she watched them as they all worked together to carry the carcasses back, and she smiled.
This felt good, like she was doing something right. With a great big happy sigh, Tamu flopped onto the rock for a spot of sunbathing on this breezy bright day, humming an unknown tune that just seemed appropriate for now. But she was too energetic to just for long and eventually tumbled from the boulder to land comfortably and start bounding around in a good mood.
