So I'm trying to figure out what ingredients I could use that are found/ grown naturally that could be used to make paints and dyes?

There is a lot of information online for making natural dyes, since many handspinners and weavers dye their own wool, etc. Just run a search for making natural dyes---that will lead you to the plants and also to people who sell them. As for paint, most paint pigments (actually, all, that I am aware of) are made from mineral powders. You can buy some of the basic supplies, including the tools for grinding your powders and various oils, binders, etc., at www.dickblick.com and at www.jerrysartarama.com. There should be information online about that, also. Another good resource for all things "artist" is a huge book, "The Artist's Handbook of Materials and Techniques" by Ralph Mayer. I still use the 1970 edition, and it's still good.

off-hand, i know that onion skins will make a yellow dye. I haven't done much research otherwise into paints/dying.
I know old old paints used to be egg based with different pigments (ground minerals, etc) added in. It would be interesting to try to recreate that.
