Probably one of the main areas where you'll find the captain and lieutenant along with the other researchers from the department itself. Each of them are assigned to their own stations where they further their research that will assist members of the Goten 13 in their roles of the Seretei.

 "Well that's that. I guess I'm done with all of that. Took me long enough. That guy demands too munch, but I still managed. I don't see what's his plan. Following through the same footsteps will cause him to suffer the same ending. But I'm sure he knows this so he may just have a plan. I wonder how many others he's told about this new project besides myself. No matter. The experiments will continue." He stacked the papers and moved them to the side. Boxing up all the other specimen and made his way to the next room where he'd go over his results.

Kanon walked by the room, writing something down on a clipboard as a younger member of the division pushed along a silver cart behind her. She nodded in acknowledgement as she passed by Oruga on her way to the lower levels of the labs where she worked. "Hello Captain." Afterwards, she went back to recording the data from an experiment previously done in a proper format. There was already a fairly decent amount written down as the amount of paper indicated. It was a far cry from what its length would eventually be, but she had to keep it somewhat concise for convenience's sake. Yet she had to reconfirm a few points, her only reason for not being in the lab itself.
The Lieutenant was grinning in an almost knowing manner, yet this came as no surprise to any who knew her such as those in Division Twelve. Behind her on the cart was what seemed to be some humanoid limb, a piece of a Hollow, lying on top of it. The flesh was bound tightly and a variety of different needles and tube protruded from its skin. It was a part of a much larger disection, the rest of the tainted soul still imprisoned in the lower levels. The Hollow was still very much alive but no longer posessed the freedom of movement or the freedom to feel at all, something that she had ensured when first collecting the live specimen. She hardly glanced at the mutilated body part, almost completely engrossed in finishing the very last details of her overall report.
"Approximate time of formation, four months..." She muttered under her breath, writing quickly and fluidly before finally stopping. Once completely finished, she tucked her writing utensil behind her ear and shook off the cramp that had begun to develop in her hand after writing non-stop for so long. Sighing contently, Kanon organized the data and disappeared from view with her temporary assistant as they went to the lower levels to continue gathering information.

Coming from the other room he was done reviewing over his results. "Ah hello there what took you so long. I was beginning to think you'd gotten into some sort of trouble my dear." He said scratching along the surface of his mask as if it were real skin. He was a pretty odd guy but he still had his moments. Kanon had been one of his best assistants in a while. He strolled to where she kept the specimen in the cart. Fidgeting his mask again he looked down at the goods she carried. "Ah yes what do we have here. Looks to be of some use. So what are we working on here my dear?"

"I don't get into trouble that easily, it just seeks me out." Kanon replied in amusement, delving into the details of her current project. "An analysis of Hollow tissue and the creation of a poison to increase the rate of degeneration. All tested on a live creature of course." She explained, pausing to give her captain time to examine it. There were very few times where she would ever use any subject unless it was still alive. So far, she had a record of containing her experiments without incident. That was one of the reasons that she had that liberty. "There are two possibilities. One, it will destroy all the cells within the Hollow and literally break it down. Two, it will rapidly age the Hollow and in fact, evolve it without it having to devour souls. A tad extreme, but I doubt it would ever manage to do anything if it did increase in power."

 Hitoma entered the laboratory letting his eyes go big with curiosity. The potions and flasks around him making his fingers itchy to touch something. He quickly gained composure of himself and turned his attention back on what was at hand. "Captain Oruga I've done like you asked and gave it to him to drink. Anyways I can see that you're in the middle of something right now so I'll be off now." He said skipping off to the door.((exit))

Oruga still looking at the lieutenant's goods almost forgot about his request for Hitoma. During his research everything around him had completely flew by in the blink of an eye. "Ah yes thank you Hitoma, I'll take note of all results. It should take effect on him in the next couple of days or two. Ah yes back to the subject my Lieutenant Kanon." He said shooing off Hitoma with the wave of a hand. He was one that loved to stay consistent with his work and never to be lost off track on any given part. "Hmm most interesting. Kanon you've just an interesting point on my hands. Evolving it without it having to devour souls. If I may, could you provide me with a sample of that compound you used. It seems quite familiar to the one I developed some time ago except it works in the opposite way."

"Of course. Artificial evolution will make it much easier to study some of the higher evolutions without risk of them causing chaos. That or it destroys the Hollow. Both are perfectly suitable for further investigation." Kanon replied, bending down to the lower part of the cart where there were a variety of different vials and compounds. She took one of them out and handed it to her slightly unusual captain. "This one had the most successful results so far, though it has yet to be tested on the actual Hollow itself. It is indeed similar to what you described, but I made a few changes to it that produce the opposite results most likely. What effects it might have on other species is also unknown." She said enthusiastically, quite happy to talk about her work if it could be related to past experimentations.

What she had presented to him was most interesting. He had already became involved in a number of different subjects with his research and he was missing that very other half to her compound. "That will be great. The study of higher evolution type hollow will allow us to prepare greater defenses should any of them reach those forms. But that's not the major thing. I wanted." He pulled a needle from his pocket. The tip of it drenched in a foreign chemical taken from a rare flower that grows in the barren deserts. "My reason for making this compound whole is..." But he was cut off by the alert of the soul society's alarm. All captains were now being alerted to the white castle for something urgent. Whatever it may be it must have been important. He dipped the needle back into his robe and gave a nod to the Lieutenant and locked away his personal research room. "I'll be going for a little while my dear. Take care of our paperwork and results while I'm gone." He kindly asked as he made his way from the room.((exit))

"Leave it to me captain." Kanon went off with her experiment and solutions, moving them into the results room. From there, she repeated the process of finishing off all the paperwork required. After quite a few years in the Twelfth Division, writing both quickly and clearly was one of the easiest tasks in the world. She made different lists of what each compound was made of as well as their various effects. There was not much that actually needed completion as the majority simply needed to be sorted. She filed through each of the pages as she touched up a few of the complete forms, shifting the papers around as she classified and stored them away under various files. Her captain was rather picky about unorganized files, so it was better to finish now before getting ordered around for it later.
It took close to about half an hour before she finished, quite an impressive feat considering the large amount of work she had to take care of. Kanon disappeared from the room with the tray, heading down to her section of the lab where she often worked. The Captain would know where she was when she returned, for she would rarely wander away for too long unless it was to gather supplies. She kept the completed compound in her hand, quite curious as to what it would do. However she did not plan to test it yet, as she had recalled her captain cutting off what he was about to say about the formula before leaving. "Oh well then." She strolled over to her motionless Hollow, chattering in a rather cheerful way to the clearly doomed creature.

Oruga entered the laboratory only to return with a fully developed new item. The compound from earlier had completely worked just as he predicted. Unable to control his curiosity for the matter, during the meeting he had slowly processed his analysis for his new experiment. Just as soon as he left he had already started working towards creating a new item. The Vogyozu. He held it into his hands, setting it high above his mask. It resembled the pentagon shaped like item with little molecular shaped tiny orbs that bounced around inside. "Ah yes my beauty is completed. I don't know what it's used for yet but I'll soon know later. It has the power of 1,000,000 souls. Something like this is so incredible and developed in such a short period of time." He had almost forgot about his assistant in the room. At this point she probably had no clue what was going on and he hadn't intended on explaining anything to her until later. "Ah yes my mind almost ran away there my dear, I'm so sorry. But I must ask of a request from you. About the meeting. As you may have felt it, there is a menos grande rampage taking place in the human world. Many adjuchas are on the lose and the seated members will not stand to them for long. They are leveled on the same footing as lieutenant shinigami and I have my faith in placed strongly in your skills. Will you go and assist my men. I need you to start off in the outskirts of karakura. There is a disturbance taking place most likely from the criminal gangs there. I don't want any children getting hurt from the lost." He smiled and set the jewel into a vault spinning the lock close and resetting a new combination. "You should find Kazei-kun there. Please assist him and his 5th seat with your abilities. He and I are good friends and I promised assistance from the 12th division in exchange for more time for me to work on my research."

Kanon halted her work, listening intently to her captain's request. Her expression brightened considerably at the mention of assisting those in the human world. Even more so at the mention of the Hollows attacking the town despite that being a bad thing. There were not many opportunites like this that passed by if ever. "I can't refuse such a tempting offer if it is to protect other Shinigami and Humans." From her tone, it was almost strange how excited she was. Than again, her intentions were quite clear when it came to interacting with others. They were useful tools for gathering data as well as allies. In fact, she could almost be considered sinister through her tone, but that was a habit that the Captain would be quite used to by this point in time. "I will do my best to assist them. Don't be surprised if I bring a few samples back. This is a most curious affair after all." With her true nature temporarily revealed, the constantly cheerful Lieutenant disappeared without a trace.

Now that Kanon-chan was gone, he could continue what he intended to do. The research was forbidden but it still excited him that he would be able to surpass the last 12th division captain that had tried this. But before continuing his research. He would pull out a familiar item and use it in a different manner than it was last used in. It would be a secret weapon against that man. Apparently at this point he must've enjoyed how things were going and Oruga would have to stop him now. Or else things would fall in his lap and he would have to take the blame for everything. He walked over back to the vault and pulled the item out. Now everything was ready and he was ready to head out towards Karakura Town. "I hope everyone has lasted. I'll have to get as many captains as possible to help me." He pulled his soul pager out and contacted Karume-chan to warn her before anything happened.((exit, karakura downtown))

Entering the Laboratory was easy. No other officials were here except for a few lab jockeys that were busy with their work. With that he strolled over without a sound to the vault where Oruga had placed the item that he Kazei needed would be placed there. He had watched Oruga many times as he performed the spun the code into the lock. When it popped open there it sat. The item that Oruga had been working on and the same that he had introduced to his lieutenant. "Well that's all I needed mate. You're coming with me." He spoke to the item as if it could speak back.((exit wink )
