He just didn't get it! And it frustrated him that he didn't get it! The answer had to be obvious, right...? Something he was simply overlooking, yet was really right in front of his nose. They couldn't just appear out of nowhere, right...? There had to be some kind of explanation! Maybe he was young, but shouldn't this be one of those things to learn when they were young? Was there some kind of special... thing he had to do to find out how??

Dark blue eyes stayed glued to the earth as the young cub wandered though the grass, pausing every now and then to change direction and head a different way. Why wouldn't his father tell him...?? Was it just... that much of a secret? His white tufted tail swished to the side, purposefully rustling the long blades of the thick grass he wandered through, as if doing so would somehow make an answer suddenly appear before him. The sun was still high in the bright blue sky, so he wouldn't have to worry about it getting too late just yet... Which was good, because it gave him plenty of time to wander and think to his heart's content. This was ridiculous...

The crisp blue sky was cloudless, the sun shining down on Shokora and warming his fur. He trotted through the long grasses, brows furrowed and face serious. He was on a mission; searching for materials to use to make his mother something.

Maybe he would use wild flowers? She's probably like those. Oh, and grass...And mud! No...not mud. Twigs?

Pink eyes narrowing in frustration, the cub picked up his walking pace. There was a line of trees up ahead, and he hoped to find wild flowers growing near their roots. Flowers grew by trees sometimes. But what colors would they be? If there were any...Hmm...What colors would suit his mother? All colors, probably.

Right when that thought passed, Shokora stopped in his tracks. Just ahead of him, approaching the trees, was a small lion cub.

Shokora shrank down into the grass, trying to hide. But it was hard to hide in bright green when you were distinctly chocolate-brown and pink. Despite this, Sho tried as hard as he could to remain hidden, moving closer to the trees inch by inch. To anyone passing by, it was a very stupid and strange sight to behold.

A long sigh escaped through the young cub's teeth, coming to a stop as he wandered around, taking a few moments to look up at the sky. It was a beautiful day... and warm, too... Which was a good thing, because he loved being in the sun. He was surprised that he hasn't run into anyone else yet...

Of course, just as he was thinking that he gets a sudden whiff of another feline's sent somewhere near the trees up ahead. It wasn't another lion, was it...? Dark blue eyes blink curiously as he sniffed the air again, trying to use some of his newly learned skills to be able to find out just what it was he was smelling. Well, it was definitely feline... and definitely small...

Cautiously he makes his way forward through the grass, moving slowly so as not to startle anyone he may come upon... According to his parents, others don't like to be surprised.

But where's the fun in that...?

Not that he was going to... jump out and surprise whoever it was! It was just a passing thought... The dark brown cub took a few more cautious steps forward, before... he stops again.

Were his eyes playing tricks on him...? "Uh... Are you okay...?" he asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. There before him was a little cub... She didn't look like a lion... but then again, he hasn't exactly met more than a few lions in his life so far. "You're walking kind of funny..."

Sho's mouth opened wide slowly the closer the other cub got, and the hair bristled on his small back. The words the cub spoke were slow-sounding; a good sign? Perhaps. His tail twitched nervously and he knitted his brows, mind buzzing for ideas on what to do.

What were you supposed to do when an unwanted visitor was approaching? Hide. That's what he was doing. Hiding--...Wait, he wasn't hiding completely...He was only half-hidden and sneaking. DARNIT! Now what was he supposed to do?! He never learned what plan B was. Was it to fight? How could he fight? He was just a cub!

Frustration mounting, Shokora ground his teeth together and sprang to his feet. He flung a paw out and smacked the cub on the shoulder, trying to be intimidating. Unfortunately due to the cub's anxiousness, the smack was more of a playful swat of friendliness.

Blue eyes blinked curiously at the pretty little cub before him. Er... Not that he meant anything by it! Her colors were just... appealing to him... He couldn't help but like it! He was almost the same color! Only... Not pink... He opened his mouth to say something else to her, only to be stopped with a sudden friendly swat against his shoulder, causing him to raise an eyebrow at her unexpected forwardness.

Well... Maybe it wasn't being forward... His father told him that not all lions or other animals did the same thing when communicating to each other... So maybe this was just how she learned to greet another cub...? His own paw raises then to reach out and gently brush against her shoulder in response to her greeting. "Uh... Hi...?" She had yet to say anything... Maybe she was just shy...?

Suddenly realizes that he wasn't being very nice and quickly opens his mouth to correct himself. "Oh, I'm Dajan. You're not part of my pride, are you...? I haven't seen you around, so I'm guessing you're not. Are you from around here...? I didn't think any other pride lived in this area... Or do you not belong in a pride...?"

He pauses, thinking about what he just said, quickly shaking his head, "I didn't mean anything mean by that... I was just... uh... I mean, I've only met others from my pride... and... my father and I were traveling a bit... and... he said that there might be others that don't belong to a pride that we might run into, so that's why I was just saying things like that. You have really pretty eyes..." Uh... He stops himself again, glancing up at the sky. And he was just thinking that she was forward. "Uh... I didn't mean anything by that... either... I mean, you do have pretty eyes, but I'm not saying that because..." he mumbled, trailing off again, letting out a little sigh. He felt kind of stupid now...

Tail flicking and eyes twitching, Shokora gazed at the lion cub, completely unsure of what to think. He shook his head and shrugged a bit, perhaps trying to relay that he didn't understand what the other cub was saying. But it could've been mistaken as a "don't-worry-about-it" gesture.

Boy, did he talk a lot...It made Sho frustrated the he couldn't understand most of it. Then again, he didn't really care.

He deduced that this cub wasn't a threat. But then, what was he? What was he doing? This cub actually swatted him back? But it was friendly-like. And why was he looking at him like that...? Sho was confused. He knew his Mama didn't like lions; he could see that in her eyes whenever she saw one in the distance. They always ran away. So Shokora was scared of lions most of the time; big ones, at least...Maybe a cub wasn't so bad? Right? Maybe a cub...

...Who was he kidding, anyway? Lion, leopard or cheetah, a cub was a cub. Sho didn't have time for them. He had to continue looking for things to give to his Mama.

With a little huff of a sigh, the cub eyed the lion sternly, ears flicking at the other's long-stringed talking, and then padded slowly over to a shady tree. He had planned to walk past the tree and back home. He never expected the other to think he was picking out a shady sit-down spot and follow him.

What?? But that was exactly what he thought the little brown and pink cub was doing!

An awkward little laugh escaped his mouth when he realized that maybe she didn't like the sun as much as he did. "Sorry!" he quickly apologized, moving to follow her towards the trees, "I'm told that I like to talk too much sometimes... I should have asked if you were going somewhere or not..." he trails off after that bit, thinking about what he was saying. Well, she wouldn't just be wandering around without a purpose, would she...? No... so obviously she was on her way to somewhere. "Do you not like the sun...? I guess it could get kind of hot every now and then. Actually," he amended with a shake of his head, "It's usually hot, isn't it...? And I know it could get really hot, especially for those of us with darker coats." He slowly pads after her as she moved over to the tree, shaking his wannabe-mane out once he was in the shade, as if brushing off the heat of the day. Then he turns to grin at the other cub, opening his mouth to say something, but suddenly remembering his frustration from earlier.

"Ah! Do you ever have trouble with adults...? Like... Not really 'trouble' trouble... but more, like... get the feeling that they're not telling you everything you want to know...?" he inquired, shaking his head in slight frustration. He still thought it was stupid that his father wouldn't give him a straight answer. He was not too young to know!
