Hopeless. This entire journey to these new lands had proven so incredibly dull, that she had begun to wonder why Fantome had convinced her to leave her once happy home.
But she did remember.. The skinwalker had threatened their entire livelihood.

Vue Sang, meaning Visions of Blood, had always been the prim and proper mother, who made very sure her children followed by the proper manners and protocol.
She had not seen her children though.. Not in so long.
Mittrei, had started her life, as well as Cirocco.. Not that Vue knew that both of the siblings lived in the Kawani lands.
She and Fantome had ended up here accidently.

She had left Fant, back in the grove of trees that they had called their temporary home.

Vue's moth dusted back glittered in the moonlight, though it was nothing more than a pelt coloration.
She had not been born with wings, not real wings anyway.. That was saved for the special of the herd.
Mittrei, she had been born Special.. Vue only wished she knew where her daughter had run off to.
It had been so long, and the mother had begun to feel useless.

It had been a long time indeed since Mittrei had seen her mother. It had been long enough that much of what she had taught her had since melted away. Once in her life Mittrei might have been able to be called proper... but that was hardly something she would associate herself with now. Since going off on her own Mittrei had allowed her own whims and wishes to become the guide for her behavior. She had become snippy, catty at the times when her moods called for it. Perhaps it was a natural progression from the haughty properness that she had held around her mother to a haughty impropriety on her own. Mittrei didn't really know and most of the time didn't really care.

It had been a long time since she had seen her mother, after all.

Mittrei couldn't have possibly known that was going to change tonight. It was a basically normal night for her, even down to the brief meeting with a somewhat annoying and somewhat lost foal. What was wrong with mothers these days? she wondered. They seemed to practically abandon their foals and send them off unprepared into the night...

Something bright moved ahead of her. Mittrei squinted through the foliage between her and the creature and tried to make out what it was. A deer? Another soquili?

She caught a glimpse of wings. It had to be another flutter. That thought filled Mittrei with a little excitement. She did so enjoy talking with others of her own kind. She strutted towards the stranger, smug in her discovery. She prepared a confident smile in greeting...

And froze when she saw who the pair of wings belonged to.

They weren't real wings, not ones that could ever be flown with. They were markings. Markings on the back of a very familiar mare. The smirk melted off from Mittrei's face to be replaced by a look of pure surprise. ""Mother?" She gasped the word, barely believing what she saw with her own eyes.

Her wings did glitter, even though they were never to touch the air and carry her across the lands, and seas.
Niether she, nor her mate Fantome had real wings that could be flown with.

Though Vue had once wondered what had made Mittrei a flutter.. being as both her and her mate had only the markings of great wings.
But it Fantome had spoken of a mother, with wings of a flutter..

Vue was almost postive thats where Mittrei had gotten them, and Cirocco had just been like his parents.
Which was easier to explain.

She had not seen her children in a long time. Though she had heard they were both in this very area. Cirocco, from what she heard through the grapevine, was mated with foals of his own.
She only hoped the mare was deserving of her son, otherwise she felt sure he knew she would say something.

But Mittrei.. nothing was really known about her. Once she left Vue, she had become somewhat of a mystery.
But when she turned her head, and looked into the strange eyes that belonged only to one mare.
"Mittrei?"
She asked, looking at her with surprise, her white-golden mane sparkling around her ivory face.

All of Mittrei's usual habits and expressions fell from her as quickly as leaves flying from a tree in an autumn wind. Her first feeling upon seeing her mother after so long wasn't one of joy. It was confusion, a sudden sense of being yanked from one world into another. She knew how she behaved around the random soquili that she met in her part of the forest. She had all her habits down perfectly and predictably. What she didn't know was how to behave towards her mother, having not seen her for so long and now so suddenly.

"M-mother," she stammered again, wings folding flat to her back. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been at such a loss for words. She couldn't remember any time that she'd felt so speechless.

"What are you doing here?" She blurted out the question and belatedly realized the tone of it. "Not that I'm not happy to see you." She put some of her usual smirk into the second statement before realizing that that too was not the way she ought to be addressing her mother.

None of this was the way she had anticipated their reunion being like.

Through a force of effort, Mittrei calmed her spasming personality. She tried to draw upon her early memories, a time of poise. She straightened herself up and pulled a smile onto her face that she hadn't used for a long time, a respectful one.

"I'm sorry if I'm acting a little strange. I wasn't expecting to see you out here." There. That sounded more coherent, not to mention polite. With the return to calmness Mittrei began to feel something else stirring within her... something tentatively growing at the sight of her mother. For now though, she held it still. She still didn't know how her mother would respond to seeing her again after so long.
