Well hidden in bushes from the world that concealed so much dangers a lone egg waited for it's time to hatch. From where this egg came or to whom it belonged was unknown same as the reason why it was left behind. And in it a small foal grew in complete silence never hearing voice of any family member only the life that flow through natures veins. A sweet lullaby of silence. Warm sunlight was coming through leaves that were hiding the egg. The feel of them bathing the egg was so pleasant but the egg was slowly getting small. It was time to come out and meet the world. The only family and nanny this little egg had and knew. The foal wiggled in side of the egg and soon the egg lost it's balance and rolled out of the bushes safety finding itself on forests path.

Helki had been searching the forests that day. Rajah said that they could look for possible abandoned nests in the case of her not being able to produce her own eggs as it was her first season.
She was carefully maneuvering a few bushes and coming around a tree when a spotted egg rolled out and into her path. It didn't startle her but only for a moment as she took a couple steps back. She reached her head out to sniff at the egg and could feel a warmth coming from within. Placing her ear to the egg's shell the sounds of a steady thumping was heard and she smiled delightedly. At last she had found an egg and it had a living foal inside! Oh she was thrilled and looked up to see where Rajah might be. He couldn't have strayed too far from her side.
"Rajah?!" she called looking around her and making sure to keep the egg close to her.
"Rajah?! Come here! I think I've found one!" she called again now making sure that it was truely abandoned.
She sniffed near the nest and surrounding flora and found the smells of other kirin faded. There was also no recent tracks or other signs that a kirin has been near here except to lay the egg. She smiled at the egg when she returned to it and sniffed at it, nuzzling it closer to her.

Rajah leaped into the stream, horn first, neatly spearing one of the silvery fish darting through the clear brook. His mouth watered, anticipating the delightful flavor. Helki and himself had crossed to the mainland from what he always thought of as her island, exploring as usual. It wasn't their first day ashore, one of many, and the black striped stallion had frankly given up much hope of finding a live egg. They had found shells, a few abandoned nests, but as of yet not one live egg of their kind. With a deft practiced toss of his head, the fish flew through the air and landed on the mossy bank, gasping its last breath. A quick bite behind the head dispatched the silver swimmer, leaving the limp fish dangling from Rajah's mouth.
His furry cupped ears swivel and perk forward as he recognizes the sound of Helki's excited voice. Found one? An ... egg? Excitedly the stallion kicks up his heels and gallops towards Helki, eyes bright with curiosity.

The shell was strong making egg roll around while foal was trying to brake free. Soon the struggle exhausted the little one and the egg stopped moving. There were sounds she never heard before coming from outside. She wondered who was making them. What was she going to see once she brakes free. Gathering strength she had left and she tried once more. Her efforts gave results and a small crack formed itself. She felt bliss for it won't be long now until she gets out. She pushed few more times and soon her little head was peaking out. Egg shell finally broke letting her out of it's safety. She blinked few times. The light was strong and bright here so much that it dazed her and for few moments she saw nothing more than whiteness that hurt her eyes. There were so many sounds she could hear now and they were louder than before. It scared her. She tried to see from where they all were coming from with no much luck. And while she was trying to find some point that she could hold on to and sort out this chaos that surrounded her she saw a strange tall creature looking at her. Her green eyes found first interesting thing worth exploring.

Helki had to quickly rein in her excitement. She had never witnessed foal hatching from an egg before. She watched with nervous silence as the shell started to crack and give way to a nose and then a head. Helki smiled and leaned over the egg to get a better look at the tiny foal.
"Ohhh" she murmured. "Welcome to the world little one," she cooed at the foal.
Helki lovingly looked the foal over to make sure there was no harm done to her. The little foal being very spotty Helki had to wonder. She looked up to see Rajah arriving. "Rajah! Look...I found an egg and it hatched! But look...it's all spotty...." Helki gently nudged some of the shell away so that the little foal could find solid ground to attempt to stand on.

The fish fell from Rajah's mouth, quite forgotten as he takes in the sight of Helki standing protectively over the hatching egg. He approaches with restrained excitement, leaning down to sniff delicately at the hatching foal.
Amazing... He couldn't think of anything else to say, it was the first hatching he had ever witnessed as well. Did I come from such a small thing, too? I suppose we must all have, at some point. Rajah gently intercepts Helki's nose as she pushes at the eggshell. "Don't... it's not the Way. Foals must hatch on their own, in their own time. Wait and watch, but do not interfere."
Rajah examined the hatching foal carefully, noting the fragments thin, hard shell with relief. It truly was this little one's time to hatch, not damage forcing it into the world prematurely. One of Snowpeak's clutches had been cracked by a falling branches after a fierce windstorm, and none of those foals had lasted the night, too weak and undeveloped to survive.
This little one would not have been out of place in Snowpeak clan at all - tawny and spotty and striped as it was, though the red ... berries? things? what were those around its neck? Small strands of something, it was hard to tell, wet and folded as the little newborn was.

She turned her head carefully to see the new creature that just came. They both were standing and she wanted to do the same. Now that nothing was holding her back from testing her legs logical thing to do was to use them. After all more there were so much things she wanted to explore. She managed to get on her feet, first the front two were put in they're position and then the last two. But for some reason a strange force gave a momentum to her rear and soon after she was back where she started. On solid ground after making one big slue. She turned her head to look for the two she was trying to mimic and she couldn't understand what was she doing wrong. She put her legs just as they did. Than why was she back on the ground. So she tried once more. And again she was high up on her little legs that were shaking and not cooperating with her. They just wouldn't listen to her commands and soon she was on the ground again. At her third try she was close enough to Rajah to lean on him. This gave her little more stability and an opportunity to examine something new. His fur was soft and it gave her little comfort and suddenly the world seemed little less scary to her. And then a strange feeling came from her belly and it made a strange sound. Like it had a voice of it's own. So she looked at the two hoping they would know what to do now because she had no clue.

Helki refrained from touching the foal at this point realizing once again she knew nothing about the world that they lived in. The hatching and standing seemed to be very important milestones for foals and Helki couldn't even remember her doing these tasks.
But while watching the spotty filly try to rise and looked up at them when she fell Helki felt a softness for her and hoped that Rajah and herself could give this small creature a better life than what could have happened to her if she had hatched alone in this wild world. From what little of the main land Helki has seen it was indeed wild and unknown. Dangerous beasts, unpredictable stallions, and kirin that murder and eat their own kind. Helki had only thought that to be a story to scare foals into sticking close....apparently not after encountering a kirkani mare near Chain. She shivered inwardly.
She quickly suppressed her thoughts and focused upon the filly. "Hello dear one," Helki murmured softly to her not wanting to scare her. "My name is Helki," she spoke the words clearly so that it wasn't a mumbled mess to the filly's ears. "That big guy is Rajah..."

Rajah rumbled softly, a deep throaty sound. The little body pressed against his side surprised him, foals usually gravitated towards mares rather than stallions... maybe it was because neither of them were his or her parents ... He looked the foal over quickly, realising he didn't even know if it was a filly or a colt.
"Hello there little one... you're quick to your feet, very nicely done." The copper coated stallion favored her with a small smile and one for Helki too, hoping he hadn't offended the winged mare. Truly though, it was unwise to help the newborn hatch, they needed to make their own way into the world, or return to the Goddess. Nothing good ever came from cracking a shell before it's time.
He favored Helki with an uncertain look, ears pricking forward at the sound of the foal's gurgling stomach. "Normally.. she'd be nursed by her dam, but I don't think that's going to be an option, at least not at first. Which kind do you suppose she is?" The stallion blinks, craning his head around to look at the filly more closely. "She's got a tail somewhat like mine... Pryrin maybe? and.... and... " Rajah paused and tilted his head, mouth slightly ajar.
"What's wrong with her hooves?"

The little one couldn't understand what they were saying and how could she than it takes time to learn words. But still she liked they're voices for they made her feel safe. Her little tail moved happily from side to side and now that she examined Rajah it was time to do the same with Helki. So with a few insecure steps and constant threat for her to fall again she came close to Helki and looked deep into her eyes.

Helki looked back at the little foal keeping her eyes more level with her's. A slow smile crossed Helki's face the more she looked upon the filly and she nodded once. "Looks like your getting more sturdy. Feeling a bit more confident in walking?" she tilted her head at the foal. This was a very interesting experience as she wasn't quiet sure about baby kirin nor their needs but this was going to a learning experience and Helki was up for it. She glanced over at Rajah for some help.

Rajah bends down, nose almost on the ground as he snorts in sympathy. "Poor little filly, no wonder you were left behind. Her hooves seem to have some kind of deformity..." The stallion shook his head slightly and frowned, uncertain what to do. On the one hand, he didn't wish to upset Helki by rejecting the child, but on the other if she was incapable of surviving on her own, parting would be much easier early on.
"Maybe she'll grow out of it...?" Rajah sounds doubtful. "I suppose we should find her something to eat, in the meantime." The copper coated stallion casts his gaze around, settling on a branch of newly opened leaf buds. He nips the tender shoots off and flicks the leaves against Raawiya's nose, hoping she'll get the idea.

Raawiya looked at Rajah for a long time and than at the leaves. She came closer to them so close that they tickled her nose while she smell them and it almost made her sneeze. As a newborn she was curious and what a better way to explore the world than through her mouth. She opened her little mouth wide eating the whole leaves and swallowing them without chewing which was not an easy task but it helped to please her belly little.

Helki grinned and looked over at Rajah. "Well it looks like she'll at least be able to work towards eating leafy stuff." She watched the spotted filly work on the leaves. It didn't look easy to do as it was more natural for newborn foals to start on a liquid diet before starting on solids like vegetation and other source of nutrition.
She tilted her head slightly and then nuzzled the foal's rump and started to groom her affectionately.
