Ouch. Kaewyn's family gave him a headache. He loved them dearly, would place his life down for them, but his sister and this new mate of hers confused him more than he could figure. All the stress and confusion made him feel like he was permanently wrinkled on the brow and over-tense.
He was determined to go out and enjoy the day now.
Ah-haha! And the day had just gotten where he may just succeed in such an endeavor. Was that a big fish he had just slapped out of the stream or what? Kaewyn pounced on it and batted it back and forth a bit, letting himself get lost for a few moments in a feline-frenzed amusement before holding it down to make it a properly still meal.
Perfection.

It was funny. You'd think Kiyoi would've embraced the life of a warrior by now. Yeah, it could be a lonely existence sometimes. But that was the whole point, right? Didn't need constant companionship or anything. Just knowing he'd made a difference somewhere was all he needed.
But so sue him. He'd had a loving family before they were killed. He'd grown up within the walls of Dragon Lands. Then he'd left to stand by Koto's side to keep her safe. It was rare that he'd been left completely alone in life. And that was still something he was trying to come to terms with. Trying to push past and adapt.
It didn't stop him from brightening when he caught sight of a lion standing by the riverbank. Finally. It felt like it'd been ages since he'd last seen someone! (... okay, it'd only been a few days. Still. Time had a funny way of passing very fast, or very, very slow when one was on their own.)
He hesitated, though. No telling if this lion would be too keen on company or not. Might not want anything to do with him. Eating, too; might worry about Kiyoi trying to pilfer his meal. He'd never, of course. But this other lion wouldn't know that.
So he tried for another approach. Some short ways off, he made for the river for a quick drink. Gauge how the other lion reacted, take things from there.
Flawless!

Kaewyn was in quite a fix. It was a large fish, and he was having some trouble keeping it pinned--maybe he'd lose it! Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a big, red spot. Oh, no, Phoenix Shelley wasn't on that outing with his family for some reason, or they'd made some short-cut over this way. Kiyoi wasn't downwind from him, and so the mistake from one red lion to the next was fair enough to make
Well, he had a duty of keeping family peace and so on. And he did sort of need the help . . .
"Brunch is served to share, if it doesn't get away!" Kaewyn called. Perhaps he could share the food and get some time off after.
