I see you watching... I'm curious as to what kind of different music you listen to. By different I mean bands that aren't mainstream and not many people know them. There's a local band where I live called 3OH!3. I believe they are making it out there and becoming popular now. But I can't ignore the local bands and Denver seems to be coming out with groups like The Flobots, The Fray, etc. So what different and/or local bands you know?
Another fun group that no one really knows is Video Villains. It's kind of an acquired taste, but their music is awesome.

You know when I was younger, The Rhode Island scene had one of the best underground scenes. With bands like Vital Remains, Are we dead yet?, Tipper Gore, Smash, and many others. Thats what got me started in demo trading. And once a week, we had a radio show out here, that played nothing but Underground music, which ws awsome cause you heard these bands from throughout the country and world. I use to have a large collection of Underground Music, which was pretty awsome, my 2 favorites were Blackbone, from Colorado and Funeral Nation from Chicago. It is something I would want to get back into again. someday.

I see you watching...@Papa Smite: Yeah the underground scenes are the best. It's really hard to get into them sometimes. We don't really have one where I live. Plus I don't know anyone where I live haha. So I rely on people to give me music lol. But wow. Demo trading and everything sounds like fun. I'm jealous.
@Friendly Ammunition: Yeah they have some pretty funny lines. Have you listened to Starstrukk yet?

It's been years since I have done it, but the best way to get into the underground is to find fanzines and such, which you can usually find in music stores, the other way is checking online for your state. It's something you will enjoy, especially if you love music like I do. Plus it wasn't just bout the collecting, you kinda provide support for the underground, which is why it was so strong for so many years. Now I try to help the underground by doing live band photography and hoping that my photos will let people know there is more to life than main stream stuff, and that they don't rule the world. All bands had to come from somewhere.

I think the old bands are forgotten to often! Who remembers The Buggles or Jethro Tull anymore?

All bands had to come from somewhere. From behind me... Oh wow you have some great information. Thank you this will help me greatly haha. And I love supporting the Underground. I remember finding The Flobots before they made it big. They'd play in small local theatres and weren't really getting the attention they deserved. Then out of nowhere their shows were being sold out and suddenly they were on the radio. I even went to their music video shoot. There must have been a thousand people there. It's amazing to see these bands just grow and blossom because of fans like us. ^^ But yeah I try to help in as many ways as I can, but I guess I'm "new" to this. What do you do with your band photography?

Well Jethro Tull is cool because I'm friends with the drummer and they have a flute in a rock band! To the right crowd they are extremely famous.

Eventually, I would like to have my own business doing band photography, for now though, I show them on myspace and such, and help out any local bands that need pics for bios or cd covers, or for any advertising they can do with it. To me the photos are my art work, I love capturing the moment of the music. Which I guess all photographers shoot for. So for now, my artwork are for the masses to decide what they want to do with it.

I'm Christian, so most of my music will reflect that. I'm not into anything slow though. God said to make a joyful noise not a quiet riot. I'm all for any music that sounds good to me. I'm having a little trouble getting rid of some of it though. It's a major crutch for me. Although I am religious, my musical preferences might say otherwise. I'll listen to death metal as well as some things "new age" or "wiccan" such as the wonderful sounds of Loreena McKennitt. She's got one hell of a voice. 3nodding
I listen to all sorts of stuff.

It is hard to get into the undeground sometimes. The only I'm still connected now is that I have a couple of friends that live in RI and Mass that have underground bands, so I guess I'm lucky, I get the best of both worlds. And don't feel bad, I been living in this neighborhood for over 10 years, and I still don't know anyone around here. Oh wait, maybe that is a good thing. hmmmm....

There was a band that went to my high school that I really loved, The Envy Corps. On the station I listen to they have a program called 'The Garage' where they play a bunch of local music.
