He had convinced her to come away from her jungle home, leaving everything that she knew behind to follow him across the savanna. The terrain was different, her paws taking some time to adjust to the absence of soft, moist earth beneath them. The sun was brighter, but she was happy. This was an adventure; one she was taking with the male that had captured her heart, giving her freedom while slowly convincing her to come back again and again.
"Are we almost there?" Her brow lofted slightly as she looked to him, tail flickering back and forth behind her. They were getting further and further away from anything that looked familiar to her so they had to be nearing something that looked familiar to him.

He had not expected to find a treasure in the jungle he'd found himself in but he had. She wasn't the large powerful female he'd envisioned when he was younger but he would not trade her for the world. He had been elated when she had agreed to make the journey across the savanna with him to try to find his old home. He knew that if any of his pride was left they would welcome both him and his love into their ranks again.
They had walked though much that he only remembered vaguely in passing and now he could smell water. "I believe so." He knew he could not have gone in the wrong direction and with the smell of water would come the lake.

"It is strange here..." She murmured, eyes wide as she picked up her pace to follow closer to him, not wanting to stray too far from his side now that they were taking the chance of coming closer to others. He had reassured her that she would be safe and welcomed, but so much time spend growing up alone had made her wary. "When will you know for sure?"

"It's just different." He nudged her head gently with his before he continued on. Tapanga was used to the jungle and having cover. Out there there was only the grasses to hide in. He had blessed his own coat while living here for giving him a good way to blend into the ground to hunt.
"There should be guards on the border..." So long as there were still guards alive to be patrolling.

"Different can be strange." She nodded slowly, butting her head lightly against his shoulder. They often had conversations like this, back and forth about one opinion versus another. She liked to think that she won more often than he did.
At the mention of guards she seemed to pause, holding back for a moment before catching up with him again. "All over the border? Or just at certain places? They don't attack first, do they?"

"But strange can be welcoming too. It's all a matter of perspective." He had thought her love of the jungle was strange but he had been able to see why she liked it after spending time there with her.
He paused and looked over at her. "No ... so long as the others i remember are still here they wouldn't." at least not so long as the attack hadn't made them start to attack first and ask questions later. "We should find one soon either way and that will answer our question."It had thankfully almost been like he had never left once he'd settled back into life with the pride. He had picked up watching the borders between teaching his canine companion how to function within the pride itself.
He was for once without his neat freak companion while he stalked the edge of the territory that ended against the lake. The girls were out hunting and hopefully there would be a hearty meal waiting.

"What is strange to me might welcome you, but that does not mean they will welcome me." She smirked softly as she nuzzled him again, finding comfort in their closeness with one another. "I hope, for your sake, that the others are here... It is never easy to make a long journey if it is only going to lead to nothing."

"They will welcome you. I know it." She was everything they could ask for. The lead huntress wasn't much bigger than Tapanga was so they woudl not ban her for size only. He rested his head over her neck for a moment. "I'm sure everyone will come to love you in their own way"
He had spotted forms in the grass and had begun to carefully make his way toward them. As he neared the two he raised a brow. It was odd in a way to see someone he had last known as a child to be standing fully grown, and with a female.
Clearing his throat he stopped reasonably close to the other two. "Dynatos ... it is good to see you are healthy."

"I will hold you to that, Dynatos." She tilted her head so that she could n** lightly at his ear, giving it a playful tug before turning, startled by the sound of a voice that she did not know had been anywhere near them. "I think we've been found."

He looked up when he heard a familiar voice. "Uncle ... it's good to see you." He had feared that everyone he had been close to would be gone. It was good to be proved wrong. "I take it that things have been going better here?"
He took note of the female with his nephew, smiling at her with a bow of his head. "Yes. Better than they were. I'm sure everyone will be happy to see you've returned to us, and with a lovely companion."

She fell silent for a moment, stepping back so that Dynatos could come forward to reunite with the lion he'd called 'Uncle'. She managed a smile and in an attempt to keep herself from being too tense she tried to slide into the conversation. "... It is a pleasure to meet you, Uncle." Obviously thinking that it was his name, and not a title of relation, even if an odd name, she continued to smile.

He tried not to laugh as Tapanga greeted his Uncle. "I am glad that there are others who have come home ..... the Mlfame? Did they both make it?" He had worried that they would loose one of them. Their attackers seemed to have gone for those in power somehow.
Shifting slightly he nudged Tapanga's shoulder. "Uncle, this is Tapanga, my mate."
"I would hope she was if she is going to be calling me that too." He smirked slightly. "Yes, both Mlfame made it ... though Rasi's mate did not." Shaking his head slightly to push that away he looked at the two again. "I am Kichembe, Dynatos' Uncle."

Her brow furrowed slightly as the lighter colored lion introduced himself, watching him for a moment before turning her gaze on Dynatos, figuring it would be easier to question him about it instead since he was used to her questions by now. "... Why does he have two names?" Her question was genuinely curious, almost child-like in being so despite her adult appearance.

He laughed softly. "Uncle is a title, not a name. He is my mothers brother." He hadn't thought that Tapanga wouldn't know what an uncle was. He should have though since she'd told him that she grew up without anyone else.
He raised a brow slightly but tried not to question it. Perhaps the female had never met her own uncles so she did not know what they were.

"But if he has a name... Why do you have to address him by a title?" Her brow furrowed slightly as she pondered that one, letting her mind linger on it for a moment before shaking her head slowly. "Does it matter, in the end?"
