Name: Avani
Breed: Tabby
Status: Stray-rules over some rundown warehouse.
Distinguishing marks: Firey amber eyes and the brown markings upon her face that often cause the silly humans to say she looks like an egyptian or some distant cheetah cousin.

Personality: If it couldn't be told already, Avani is a little spitfire. Her mind is of her own as well as her actions. She walks with stealth, but a proud air can very well be sensed about her. She is not ashamed of her stray status or the conditions in which she lives. Her respect is only given to Sacred Leaf and the belated Poison while her...dislike is towards those who eat from the hands of the humans.

Humans seem to be the only thing this stray hates.

"Lookeet mummy, a kitty-kat!" called out a small boy. He was leaning as far as he could while his arm was still being held by his mother. A chubby little hand was continuously making grabby signals, but that wasn't getting his pray any closer.

The tabby buzzed her tiny orange wings, ears plastered close to her head. Damn little children, thought the fuzzball. Orange eyes glanced around, her back already against the brick wall that lined one side of the sidewalk. To her left lay a heavy intersection and more people while the other was blocked by the mother's foot. Maybe I could just swat at him? yeah, that should work. And so, the little thing extended her claws and let a blonde paw let loose on the chubby hand.

"Ahhh!" cried the child and the kitten stray made a break past the woman's shoe. A turn off into an ally lay close bye, that should offer some coverage. the cat made her way as fast as small legs could carry until she skidded into the ally..and into a box as well.

Although she was aware of the consequences that may await her, the petite, young Housekitty strided assuredly down the alley. The only thing in the world that could bother her was the lack of shade below her tender, pink paw pads against the rough cement. Where the Willow leaves above left a shady shadow upon the ground, there were also spaces between the branches and leaves that let streaks of sunlight stream down before the cat. She gingerly trotted over each patch of light, stepping over the shadows as if they were stepping stones. It was nearly Summer, and the weather was too hot for Kitty, her dark brown upper fur attracting more light than she would like to welcome. Most of the time, Kitty would just roll about on the floor with paws suspended, letting her white belly fur deny the heat that her dark back might attract, but now the heat had soaked up even every patch of grass, and no where was cool. The last thing on the she-cat's mind was the war going on in the alley, of which she tried not to care. I have lost that life, she reminded herself as she approached the entrance of it. She didn't have to care anymore. Everything she loved was gone. All that mattered now was the shade, of which the alley would offer her. The young she-cat denied the horror that might await her and stuck up her chin and tail. I'll do it, she thought. After all, my home is only a few fox-lengths away. Still, she nervously looked back in the direction of safety, considering the posibilities, until she noticed a red blurr in the distance, facing away from her. As she peered closer, she could identify it. Her lips curled in disgust. Redford, the little scamp! He would try, and always did, follow her everywhere. In an attempt to escape his view, she bounced quickly into the shadowy depths of the alley entranceway, snarling in frustration.

Kitty paused, startled, and spun around with wide eyes full of surprise and awe. As the two emerald beings landed upon the small kitten before her, spitting insults, the she-cat's sides began to quiver with laughter. She couldn't help but lift her chin and let out a small giggle of amusement. Her eyes fell upon the scrawny kitten again, both were filled with pity and feminine protectiveness to see such a young, hungry looking scrap alone. She knew what this was like all too well, recalling the days when she had been known as Seed, one of the smallest and weakest kittens in the alley, and taken advantage of as such. She had made nearly the same remarks at the Housekitties who had once taunted her, and tended to still do so every now and then because of her lineage. She cooed softly as she would to a newborn, and rested her accepting gaze over the golden eyes that returned hers. "I am a friend, not an enemy", she said softly, pulling a paw over her collar until it jingled off with a snap, and offered it to the kitten. "Look. If I had had not worn this, would you have adressed me like this? We cannot let differences seperate the cats of two homes in such a time of hatred. We have to work together. That is what Poison would want", said Kitty, slipping the collar back over her head. "My name is Kitty, but I am known as Seed in the alley", she said, her eyes reflecting a glimmer of pain as she recalled her old name. "What is yours?", she said softly, looking the kitten up and down, trying to determine the last time she had eaten. "And", Kitty said carefully, "have you a mother?"

The scrawny little thing watched as the other took of her color, nose twitching and wrinkling when it was closer to her. Now, she had thought about replying or retorting, but at the mention of Poison she held her tongue. The past "queen" was held in respect by the tabby even though she was just a tiny little thing when she died.

"Avani.." she stated proudly, by haughtily as well as she sat down upon her perch. Amber lanters gave Kitty a look over before ears twitched at the other feline's question. "Mother? No, never," was all she said. Ears fell back against her head, but not out of saddnes or fear. The kitten, however scrawny or small, thought she didn't need one. She'd survived this long without one, so why add on the burden?

No surprise there, thought Kitty, bobbing her head slightly at the confirmation of her worries. "Avani is a pretty name", she said softly, forcing her lips to curve into a little smile, and exposed a few teeth to look friendly. She was atleast relieved that Avani seemed to trust her a little more, and pleased to hear that she recognized the name of Poison.

"Can I tell you a secret?", Kitty laughed, leaning into the small kitten's ear. "I was just like you. I had no mother for a long while when I was a kitten, and I was just a stray on the streets. What was I to do? I wouldn't have lasted long if it weren't for Cinnamon, my beloved mentor, who found me a loving home with the Housekitty's pets," Kitty smiled nervously, "and it was about this time, too. The sun was warm, then it got warmer, until there was nothing left of water, and with no water, there was nothing left of food. There was nothing I could do. I planned to leave the Housekitties as soon as possible, but I found them much more caring and gentle than the strays of the alley had told me, so I stayed with them. With them, there is such abundance of food and shelter, and they're just so ...", Kitty trailed off, looking sadly at Avani. There was no way she could convince this stray kitten to live with the Housekitty's pets. She was not Cinnamon, and in this kitten's eyes, she was still a Housekitty.

Avani gave a flick of her two toned tassle towards the name compliment, but nothing more. Not even an returning smile.

A secret? She hadn't been told on of those before, but she had heard of them from other cats. Avani let the other lean close, ear poised to catch the words. At first she thought it may be something grand, and in the beggining, it was. So this Kitty had also been a stray! But as Avani listend more, and as Kitty continued to talk, the kitten soon started disliking what she was listening to. "I have shelter, and water. I don't need humans to live, no matter what you tell me or what this Cinnamon cat told you." She had pulled her head back away from Kitty's rambling.
