Kari smiled happily walking through the sand, giggling slightly as it went between her toes, her having taken off her shoes and was now holding her shoes as she walked, smiling and laughing as the waves washed over her feet, her then looking over at Toby, "This place is so amazing." she said smiling over at him, her eyes warm.

"Yeah, I love this beach. There is no other beach on Earth quite like it. It was blessed by the Lunar Goddess, and crafted by the magic of one of the Ancients." Toby explained as he walked, he too was holding his shoes in his hand, the sand feeling rough in between his toes.

She smiled, "The lunar goddess is a very generous being to give us such a beautiful beach." she said softly, kicking up some sand, running a ways and then turning to look back at Toby, "Catch me if you can!" she yelled, racing down the beach away from him.

"Gosh." Toby cried. He dropped his shoes and started to chase after Kari.
"Aw, come on." He said with a laugh. "This is too eazsy." He said as he grabbed Kari's shoulder, although before he knew it he had tripped, bringing Kari down with him.
He found himself rolling in the sand and then stopped, opening his eyes...

She blinked, opening her eyes and blushing brightly as she saw him on top of her, Her face bright red as she was frozen, not sure what to do, just looking up into his eyes and blinking.

"Holy Ancient!" Toby exclaimed. He got up faster than a bullet, his face burning red.
"Im...sorry..." He said, trailing off.

She blinked, looking to the side as she sat up, "I-It's okay.." she said timidly, shy and realizing they'd both blushed, wondering what that could have meant, wondering if he really did like her back.

Sitting down on the sand, hugging his knees, Toby was still blushing, staring out to sea.
He smiled and turned to look at Kari.
"You know, before my parents died, I used to come here all the time and play with them. We used to sit here after a while and watch the sun go down."

She blinked, crawling over to him and sitting beside him, "If you want we can watch the sunset together?" she said softly, curious about what had happened to his parents but not wanting to pry.

"Sure. That sounds nice." He said softly.
"Sometimes I come here on my own. I just sit here for hours." He swallowed hard and continued on.
"My parents had gone to the city to try and get me a gift. They wanted it to be a surprise. As they were heading back a truck driver ploughed into their car. He was drunk, you see, and he was in the middle of the road. Dad kept honking the horn, but the truckie didnt even notice. He walked out of that accident battered and bruised with a broken arm, and a lifetime jail sentence. I went and saw him a few years later, and he had been eaten away by remorse, they told me. He didnt even look into my eyes he was so ashamed..." His voice trailed off, a tear rolling down his cheek.

She blinked, looking at him intently as he told her the story, her eyes sad as she looked at him, her hand gently wiping away the tear on his cheek as she tilted her head, "I'm so sorry..." she looked down, "My parents died in a car accident too.." she said sadly, knowing exactly the kind of pain he was going through, "..It was Christmas Eve and we were driving to my grandpa's house when we hit a slick of black ice and the car spun out of control.." she trailed off a moment, "The paramedics said my mom died instantly when we hit the tree, and my dad passed away while in surgery..." she gulped as she held back a tear, wiping her eyes, "I got away with only a broken arm and a few bruised ribs..." she looked at him, "I really do miss them, ya know?"

Toby smiled and looked at her. He felt warm inside from her touching her cheek.
For a moment he felt sick, and all of a sudden a wave of impulse rushed over him and he leaned forward and kissed Kari softly.
He realised what he had done and, blushing, he looked down. He didnt even feel the need to apologize.

Kari blushed bright red, her eyes slightly wide as she kissed him back, smiling at him with warm, loving eyes as she looked at him, her sweet smile telling him that she was more than fine with the kiss as she leaned over and kissed his cheek, "You're really cute when you blush." she giggled slightly, not telling him that it had been her first kiss.

The young man smiled and looked at her, not blushing as much. He shifted over, getting closer to her.
"kari..." He said softly. "I think I have come to like you."
He looked at her again and smiled.
