“Oh my stars, dearie! I didn't expect you to come back all the way out here! Come in, come in, I've just made some tea!” Ethel enjoyed entertaining guests. She epically enjoyed entertaining at other peoples homes. She led Donna into the Tea Room (there was once a requirement that all stately homes have such a room).

Tristan was closely following his mother until Verrill found the unlucky sprat. “You're coming exploring with me!” He said, pulling the boy away from his mother. He was quite active and oddly strong for his age. He pulled the unwitting sprat along as he explained “We're going to the attic. I'm sure there's lots of neat stuff.”

Donna was more than happy to be a guest in this place. The pickings were easy and Tristan had a playmate to interact with. This was something she'd found the boy to lack as of late, so it only seemed natural to return to where he could find some semblance of company. The woman had some courteousy though and had brought a pound cake, setting it down on the table of the room and helping herself to a seat. Seeing Tristan being pulled off, out of the corner of her eye, she called to them "Be careful and mind your manners!" And left it at that.

Tristan could have probably pulled away if he wanted to. However, he had to admit he did like playing with the strange boy and this was as good a time as any to do so. So, willingly, he followed, nodding to the declaration as they ascended the house until the attic was located. As they pushed their way into it, he couldn't help but question about what stuff the boy meant. "Neat stuff like...drawin stuff or? What sort of stuff do you like?"

"I mean neat stuff like dead bodies, or spiders that look like cotton candy or or banna creatures with eight legs and googley eyes!" Verrill pressed on, leading Tristan now up to the fourth floor. The expression 'climbing the stairs' described literally what the chilluns had to do.

"Oh my! What a lovely pound cake, but I'm afaraid you mis-measued dear, it dosen't seem to weigh more than a new ounces!" Ethel cackled with delight at her own bad pun and poured Donna some tea. One secret Ethel would never let out is that her tea was just Pipton tea bags with a but of nutmeg in it. In fact, she herself was more of a coffee witch, but had simply decited to mix it up today.

Tristan didn't seem all that enthusiastic, but what would the other boy think of him if he declined? Doggedly he pursued, trying to throw in his own measure of imagination. "Or what if we found a giant tree in your attic, or a shiny boulder made up of diamonds, or what about a door to another world?" It was certainly better than a dead body...what would they even do with one if they happened upon it?

Donna was just as bad, grinning, she took the tea. "I know, I was rather embarrassed, but I thought the plate might make it seem heavier." Taking more caution than the last time she was here, the woman only took a few sips before deciding it wasn't going to send her hallucinating this time. What a delight! "So, how have you been, Ethel? Have you been keeping busy?"

"Keeping busy? Dearie, at my age I am just happy to keep!" Ethel cackled again at her own joke and helped herself to some of the less-than-a-pound cake and also served her guest some.

"I don't think a tree would be up there..." Verrill said, the boys now on their way to the attic. They were making exceedingly good time for their age.

Taking the cake and nibbling a bit on it, she couldn't help but relish the bit of cayenne she put into it. Everything ought to have a bit of kick after all! To the witch she simply waved her hand in dismissal, "Nonsense, you don't look a day over three-hundred! And you make splendid tea."

At long last they had conquered the stairs and had come to the attic. Tristan helped pry open the door to the unknown and sneezed softly as the liberal dust scattered at their motion. From there it was easy enough to get in, and finding that the attic was rather dark, Tristan stayed close to his friend. He was right, a tree wouldn't be in such a gloomy place...but a dead body might. Tristan gently grabbed the boy's sleeve and held on as he glanced around into the gloom. "You don't really think anybody died here...right?"

"Nah, a dead body would stink more!" Verrill poked around. Soon, he felt something tickle his head. The celing was low and a normal-lengthed chord could hit a small child's hair-- just a touch. Verrill reached up and grabbed the offending object. Suddenly the room flooded with light. All kinds of old dusty boxes and chests were not illuminated for the boys to explore.

"GHRAAAT! Vas ist das!? Wo hat disturbabunged mine ge-nape!?" A rusty only wheelchair squeaked twards the children. From around a mountian of boxes came a white rasin with nest of rats in her lap. "Ugh oy! Klinekinder!" she exclaimed as she darted for them.

"Would you believe that I'm only four-hundred" Ethel was lying a little. She was actually much later in that decade. "At any rate, this cake has a lot of a whallop. Have you ever thought about putting rat wiskers on top for a little more color?" Ethel asked, probing Donna for her baking secrets.

Tristan rubbed his eyes a bit to the sudden flash of light before finding them wide open to a nightmare. "RUN!!!!" The boy grabbed Verrill and hauled a** in a manner his mother would have bragged about. Boxes became blur as he wound in and out, between a few before making to pull them into a particularly large box and holding other tight.

Donna winked at the woman and shook her head a little. "Rats whiskers would be nice, but if you really want to add some color to it, you should try scarab wings. The light hits off them and gives the cake a nice, flaky topping!" The muffled ongoings of what was above them did not entirely escape her notice and she listened to see if any bloody screams were being wended from her child. Fear...but nothing serious, at least not yet, so she let it be, for now at least.

At this point, the elderly wheelchair-bound woman realised a flaw in her plan. The chair itself did not cooperate. The old woman was stuck. Once the children realised this, the more adventreous one (that being Verrill) looked out.

"She's down! Let's go!" Verrill Grabbed the boy's arm and started for the door.

Tristan followed him, pausing infront of the woman to stick his tongue out at her. "Mean old lady! Serves ya right." Knowing now she couldn't harm them, he was a lot less frantic as he strode to the door. The boy pulled a bit on it only to find the door itself wasn't exactly moving much either, as though imitating the woman. He looked to Verrill and shrugged. "Now whatta we do?"

"We bust it down!" Verrill started to look for something heavy that could break the old wood of the door. He didn't even worry about being able to lift it. He figured once he found something he could try and lift it, and if he couldn't, he could try something else.

Following his example Tristan began looking for something to break it down. The first logical thought was to try something stronger than whatever the door was made of. Metal should work - but where to find it? The boy glanced towards the immobile woman and got an idea, trying to creep up behind her and get at one of the spokes on her wheelchair. If the woman could get at him better he wouldn't even dare do this, but having seen she was unable to pursue them beforehand, it didn't seem so risky so as not to work.

"Vahhh! Boy! Du nacht getoutchidgen zee villsthul! Mine Villsthul!"

Dispite her carring-on she was helpless. It wouldn't be hard for the boy to pick a spoke from her chair. It was old, weak and rusty (due to her sweating in the summer months).

"Uh, dude... what are you doing? That isn't big enough. Help me with this lamp post." Verill was struggling with an old dusty faux-brass lamppost.

He shrugged, having been so close to snatching it from her. "Fine." Leaving the woman be, Tristan moved over and grabbed part of the post, lifting what portion of the weight he could to help. "Why do you have a lamp post up here anyway?"

"This is where we keep all the old junk. We didn't need it but for some reason it's not in the trash."

The boys could just barely lift it.

"Now we ram it into the door."
