I don't know if anybody else has noticed this but a number of new American made animated children's shows are in anime style. This just occured to me as one of my childhood heros G.I Joe (quit laughing. tons of people were Joe kids) was recreated as G.I. Joe Sigma 6 and is in an anime-esque art style. Also shows like W.I.T.C.H (I think it is), Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go (more of a parody of anime but you can tell where it was influenced from), and even Sonic X (I'm pretty sure its US made) are all in a psudo anime art style.

Getting down to the nitty gritty, what I want to know is your opinions on the subject. Is American art being drawn into anime? How will this effect the anime business?

i agree that american art is definately starting to be heavily influenced by anime but i don't see why so many people think it's a bad thing

i prefer anime but there are some american shows that i love (whenever justice league comes on, and it's an episode i haven't seen, i plunk my butt down and watch it.)

now when they start calling the american stuff anime i get mixed feelings

sure it's done in an anime style but it's not from japan confused (and so goes the age-old conflict)

Yes. I have to agree. That is right. it isn't anime but it some shows are getting awefully close. Pretty soon it is going to be a universal name for the art style (which is what I considered it in the first place but that is only because I have respect to the genre).

Also, in case some of you have been sleeping under a rock, I have noticed an emergence in American created "mangas" (Korean is Manga-ka or Mangwha. Maybe the US version will be called Manga-ica). Stories such as Van Von Hunter and Peach Fuzz have arisen within companies like Tokyopop. Also there is an American anime style publishing company known as Seven Seas Entertainment.

Same here. I thought it would be harder. But I missed most of the questions because some of the answers were so close (and some I just was over thinking). As for it being long, it wasn't THAT long. Compared to the AP test, that was like a drop in the bucket (though the AP test nearly killed me. It is VERY exhausting mentally. For a guy like me, it will make you feel stupified).

This is a pretty big delema to me. Because, I've always believed that it isn't really anime/manga unless is originates in Japan. Yet, one of my greatest dreams is to have my Ameri-manga published. Of course, if Ameri-manga isn't received well now, then there will be no hope for me later.

So then, the only way to make it would be to learn fluent Japanese(not my strong point), move to Japan(exspensive), find someone who will publish me (and most likely have to waste several years as an assistant in order to get that privaledge), and that doesn't even promise that people will buy it. So, realistically, the entire "psuedo-elope to Japan" thing is hopeless.

So basically, what happens now will pretty much shape what I do later.

You have some good dreams, don't give up yet. Life can only give you so much lemons, because it has to give some to everyone else. That had no relevance, or did it. I think Ameri-manga as a whole isn't received well, but if a manga has a good story and art, then no matter the artist's nationality, people will like it. Seven Seas is an American Manga company, and I like it's No Man's Land manga. Keep going.
