Please comment, I really want to know what everyone thinks of my work. (If you think it sucks, please tell me. I swear I won't be offended!)

-------------------------------------------------------------

In the fading light of dusk, a young girl wonders into a perfectly circular clearing blanketed in wildflowers. Awestruck by the beauty and variety of the blossoms illuminated by the final flashes of the golden sunset the girl is hypnotized. Without concisely deciding to do so, she sits down and listlessly picks flowers at random unaware that the forest is darkening.
Just as it becomes dark enough for the first wisp-o-the-wills to fill the forest with their eerie glow, the girl hears a strange sound. Startled, she jumps to her feet and looks about. All around her, strange little spirits are forming a ring around her, dancing to a melody she can not hear. As the dance intensifies, she begins to hear the music, soft at first but becoming loud. All her instincts are begging her to flee, but her legs are unable and before she knows it she has joined the dance.
As the dance carries on, the small spirits seem to grow with the music making it possible to see that they have wooden flesh and ivy clothing. Their star like eyes, now just at the girls level, sparkle with mischief and mirth as they spin faster and faster. The girl lets out a silvery laugh and spins just as fast.
When the melody reaches it's climax a beast as dark as a moonless night sky, and with out a discernible shape or size jumps into the ring of spirits. Crouching down, it readies it's lunge, aiming for the girl, but it is blocked by the spirits who form a protective ring around her. Frustrated, it rears up on it's hind legs, tearing apart each spirit piece by piece until only a single one remains.
The creature lets out a triumphant roar as it disembodies the last of the spirits, eager to capture it's prize, but it is confined by an unseen force. As the the fiend struggles against it's invisible shackles, all of the flowers gather together to transform into a fairy. Hovering slightly above the ground on her massive butterfly wings, the fairy holds out her hand and in it, a long oaken staff craved with runes and toped glittering sapphire, appears. Twirling the staff gracefully, the fairy plunges the stone deep into the monster's chest at the same moment that it slashes her from face to torso. Both the fairy and the beast vanish in a brilliant explosion leaving the girl in the dead clearing without even the cheery flowers the keep her company.
Collapsing on the ground, the girl begins to sob for the magic she has lost. Though her sobs, she hears a faint melancholy tune whispering through the remains of the flowers as if to underline her sorrow. However, the melody dose not stay forlorn for long, slowly turns to something familiar. It is the same song she and the spirits had danced to. She stares around, puzzled until she sees a glowing silvery orb. Entranced by it, she follows it's movement with her eyes, noting that every where it passes the flowers regrow.
Eventually, it halts it's movement, levitating over the spot where the last sprite had stood. Suddenly it drops from the air, seeping into the ground and the girl is left alone once more. As the girl curls up into a protective ball and begins to contemplate sleep she hears the melody again. Looking around she spots a glowing spot in the ground where the silvery orb had disappeared. She thinks that the silvery light is returning, and jumps up eagerly staring intently at the spot.
To her surprise, it is not the light that comes out of the ground, but one of the small spirits. She looks around the perimeter of the clearing and sees that several more of the spirits are gathering around in a circle. Relived, she claps her hands and jumps up and down excitedly as they join together again to continue their dance. As they dance she notices a slight change of light and looks up to the sky which is streaked with colored light. The first ray of pure sunlight touches her face and the spirits vanish with a musical 'ding.'
