Brioso sighed happily, standing beside a river that cuts through the jungle. It seemed like only yesterday when she met mister Grencia, and is following him to his herd up in the mountains... Thinking of training with the tutors there made her feel both excited and frightened at the same time; what if they do not find her good enough? The filly shook her head, as if to free herself of negative thoughts.
She bowed her head, looking at the river before bending down to take a sip of water. As the cool liquid slipped down her throat, she let out a contended sigh at having satisfied her thirst, her tail wagging a little. Thinking back, she had asked mister Grencia to become her teacher and master beside a river too, and he had agreed after she got her parents' approval...
"I will train hard and not let both my parents and mister Grencia down," She muttered to herself as she stared at her reflection on the surface of the water, the ripples she had made faded away. A leaf from a tree floated past, causing her reflection to become distorted. With a confident stomp of her hoof, Brioso grinned to herself, lifting up her head to stare at the sky, "I will be the best student yet!"

Delicating stepping over twigs and fallen branches, the colts' akward high was only hampered by leg featherings that dangled around his hooves, those and the broad scarlet/black wings that were tucked close to his skinny body. If he fell or got stuck, his momma nor his papa would not be able to get to him quickly; this much the tiny colt knew. But what had drawn him out of the shadows of their home was simply...curiousity.
Not even panic could force the Angei foal back when he stepped into the sunlight. Stretching his wings, Raiden smiled as the sun warmed his black coat. As he was ready to plop down in the shade, the joyful shout caught his attention and he quickly scampered over to the source.
He stopped at the last second and stared. A filly, like his silly sister. 'Cept this one didn't have wingies or a tail like Momma. Nope nope. Now even more curious, Raiden stepped out of the shadows and grinned happily despite the warnings of his parents ringing in the back of his mind. She didn't look scary or mean...maybe he had found a playmate! With a happy noise, he tossed his head and shouted a greeting.
"Hello Person Person!"

Brioso was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't realize that someone was behind her; when she did, however, it was because he had called out to her. In her surprise, she took a step forward, tripping over the edge of the river and falling in with a loud splash. This was quickly followed by "Ouch!" as she landed on the riverbed, her whole body drenched.
"Who's there?" She winced in pain, trying to get up again; it was lucky the river wasn't fast flowing nor deep, or she might had been swept away. Looking up, she gasped at the sight of a strange Soquili; although she had been told about the existence of winged Soquili by mister Grencia, this colt seems to be different from him... And she wasn't thinking about size.
Unconsciously, without really intending too, her eyes darted from the colt's wings to his feathery legs and... Are those wings on his head? She climbed out of the river, her eyes fixed on the colt as she started to stare in curiosity.

Raiden panicked when the filly fell into the water; without a second thought, the black colt dashed over to the riverbed only to skid to a halt when the dark filly looked up at him. His large set of wings twitched to display his worry as he did a little prance in place.
"A-Are you okay?!" Worry wove itself into his voice as she stared. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!"
So worried and afraid was he, Raiden didn't even noticed what she was staring at nor how much of her focus he had gained. He glanced left and right before glancing back at her as she pulled herself from the water. Wings flapped a little bit before re-folding against his sides. "A-are you hurt? I-i um.....Im sorry! Please forgive me!"

"I'm perfectly fine! Its okay!" Brioso quickly replied, her voice higher than usual as she snapped out of her trance. She was always the one worrying about others, it felt weird to have the roles reversed, even if it was only for a second. She trotted in a circle, and gave a grin when she got back to her original position, "You see! I'm alright! Not hurt at all."
Well, maybe she did hurt her pride, but she wasn't about to admit to that.
When he flapped his wings, she tilted her head to look at them. Then, she approached the colt, determined to stop staring; after all, her master said it was rude to do so. When she was standing right in front of the other foal, she realized that he was taller than his brother, although they seem to be around the same age.
"Sorry to cause you panic," Brioso nodded, giving her 'trademark' grin, "I'm Brioso, a hero-" She paused suddenly; that's right, she wasn't supposed to declare herself a heroine in training anymore. If she declares it and asks for the title of hero as 'payment' for help, she would be a mercenary. Shaking her head, she smiled, "What's your name?"

"O-okay..." Raiden eyed her as the filly trotted in a circle; pleased to find that there wasn't any injuries, the dark colt smiled happily as his scarlet glimmered with a great deal of relief.
When she walked towards him, the colt blinked and backed up a bit. His need for a little space was nagging at the back of his mind and....well, her staring was starting to unnerve him a little.
Was it because he didn't look like her? "Ah, it's okay. Im the one who should be apologizing." He returned the grin with one of his own. "Brioso....That's a neat name. I'm Raiden." His ears flicked upwards to catch what his new companion had said before she had cut herself off. A hero? "Um...What's a hero?"

Brioso sensed his discomfort, or rather, she guessed that he was feeling uncomfortable, and quickly took a step back, putting some space between them. Seemingly satisfied, the female nodded at his comment, smiling proudly, "Thank you! My parents gave me the name... I like it too." At his introduction, the filly's smile widened as she added, "Raiden... It has a nice sound to it."
When the question came, she paused, looking a little unsure of herself. Ever since she was lectured for taking a 'hero' as something that she had defined through her childish eyes, something that she openly wanted... Well, she wasn't so sure what to make of the term anymore. She tilted her head, deep in thought as she frowned at the winged colt, wondering how to explain it.
"Well..." She finally spoke, tilting her head to the other side, "A hero is someone who helps others, regardless of how they look. A hero is fair, and never bias towards who he helps... Uh..." She straightened her neck, blinking as she tried to define her new image of a hero.
"A hero... A hero helps others without asking for anything in return." She finally continued with a small smile and a nod, as if agreeing with herself, "This includes the title of 'hero'; although others may call him a hero, he must be humble enough to take it as a 'thank you' rather than something to boast with! A hero is something like that."

Raiden gave a small sigh of relief as Brioso was kind enough step back a little; it's not that he didn't enjoy the company of his fellow foal, the winged colt just didn't like it when people stepped too close for comfort...With a big grin, he bobbed his head up and down, snorting when a lock of his mane found it's way into his eye.
"Thank you." The grin faded when the uncertainy seemed to cross the filly's face and at the explaination of what this "Hero" thing was. It was almost like...."Is that what a hero is?" His little stub of a tail flicked as he blinked at her before laughing a bit. "Okay, but it sounds like something an adult would say!"
Either way, he was extremely confused but he wasn't about to say anything.

"Well, that was what an adult told me," Brioso replied with a gentle smile as she looked away for a moment, as if deep in thought. Then, she looked back at Raiden and gave him a quick nod, "Generally, its someone who help others whenever they can, regardless of how they look, without asking for anything in return... Little things matter too!"
Her smile widened slightly as she looked around, "Are you here with anyone? Or did you go exploring by yourself?" She blinked curiously at the colt; he looked much younger than her, and the filly was expecting his parents to be nearby. However, she could not see nor smell anyone around.
