It is late in the evening when Ryoua lets himself quietly into the udonya. He hasn't been back since the incident that brought him and the Dragon Knights to Gaia, but not much seems to have changed. The chairs are tucked neatly into each little table, and a small pile of dishes sat patiently in the sink.
With a light scrape, the calculator seats himself and projects a polite Good evening.

A green-haired head pokes out from behind the screen at Ryoua's projected greeting. Setsushi blinks at him, then breaks into a smile and stands up -- he had been concealed, kneeling on the floor to fix the cover of his mattress.
"Master Ryoua," he says, sending a deferential and polite feeling at first -- which then transforms into a familiar and affectionate one. How is he?? Setsushi hasn't seen him in quite some time.
Would he like a snack, something to drink...?

... Or perhaps a berating comment from his poor, neglected mother? Tenkyuu's outline appears against the folding screen before she peeks out, obviously not possessing Setsushi's ability to look over it.
A faint smile crosses the elder's lips as she regards her son, a duster occupying one of her hands.
Perhaps, rather than making an order, Ryoua should pay the proper respects to his birth-giver chides the Heavenly Bow playfully.

Ryoua rises. Ah, dearest Mother. Surely not neglected, is she? Ryoua has no doubt that Sir Setsushi has been taking good care of her here. He responds to the other male's greeting with projections of respect and warmth to both his mother and Setsushi. Ryoua thanks him for his hospitality, but he is not particularly hungry nor thirsty just now.
It has indeed been a while since Ryoua has seen either of them, for which he apologizes. Ryoua has been with Tenryuu, looking for work and attempting to accustom himself to this strange place. And what of his mother? Has Sir helped her properly in this matter? If not, Ryoua is clearly honor-bound to stand up for his dear Mother. He smiles at Setsushi, as if sharing a delightful joke with the other man.

Is Ryoua questioning Setsushi's honor!? asks the male Knight, puffing out his chest and throwing his head back to cut the most impressive figure he can. He deflates after just a second, though, and smiles with a hint of sheepishness -- Setsushi has been doing his best, but... He hasn't been of much use to Dame Tenkyuu, really. He would like to help her find a better job, but...
Setsushi sighs, then suddenly reaches to snatch the duster from Tenkyuu's hand. Let Setsushi tidy while she catches up with her son, hmm?

As Setsushi snatches away the duster, Tenkyuu huffs and narrows her eyes.
Setsushi has been of little use because he will not allow Tenkyuu to do anything. The Porcelain notes that, in all honesty, Setsushi has been far too kind--she could not ask for a better host. The Porcelain fondly watches Setsushi before sighing.
"He truly is a wonderful idiot," murmurs Tenkyuu.
Immediately after her words, the female slips past Setsushi, her wily fingers attempting to snatch back the duster as she moves towards Ryoua. Has he been eating well? Has Tenryuu been vexing him as of late?

Aha, so this one must thank Setsushi for his kindness to Ryoua's mother. One day Ryoua must return this kindness with a favour.
He turns to his mother with a gentle smile for her concern. His mother need not worry too much -- Ryoua and Tenryuu have been eating as well as they possibly can... though admittedly there have been times they could not avoid instant frozen meals. Ryoua is quite proud of his sister for having found work. He himself is still looking, but he has received a reply from one of the nearby shops in response to his inquiry. He believes the position would involve simple bookkeeping. There is an interview he must attend, but as the position itself would involve little (if anything) by way of interacting with customers, he hopes the slight... communication barrier will not be an issue.

Setsushi lifts the duster high, faaar out of Tenkyuu's grasp, and scowls at her comically before taking up her task.
He does listen in on their conversation, however -- and expresses concern at the talk of frozen meals. Setsushi has tried one for himself, and... gonk
If Ryoua and Tenryuu aren't staying far away, they know they can come by any time to eat, don't they?

Tenkyuu, being far too genteel to hop for the duster, raises an eyebrow at Setsushi before going on her way with mock annoyance floating after her person.
As Ryoua reveals his situation, Tenkyuu frowns faintly as a hand settles on her chin; Tenkyuu too has partaken of those frozen meals, and she is afraid she cannot condone her children eating such swill. No, Tenkyuu would happily pitch in a part of her check to better feed them.
"It is my duty as a mother," Tenkyuu states as she extends a hand to tug at Ryoua's cheek to stop any protests.
Of course, Tenkyuu could not allow Setsushi to cook for two more; he has enough of a burden caring for Tenkyuu and Kouyo, claims the Heavenly Bow as she pauses in tugging at her son's cheek.

Oh no no, Mother and Setsushi need not offer their own hard-earned money. After all, they must feed themselves! Unfortunately, Ryoua's protests are interrupted by his mother's insistent pinching. He smiles as best he can around the handful of face she holds.
Actually, Ryoua has discovered that some of these pre-made meals are better than others. He's even found a few decent noodle packages, made somewhat more palatable by the addition of a few fresh vegetables from the market. He thanks them both profusely, but insists that they must think of themselves, especially now that Ryoua may soon have a wage.
The tugging he endures without a thought.

Setsushi, insulted by the very concept of instant noodles, sniffs haughtily.
When Setsushi is making noodles by hand next, he could increase the size of the batch and send some home with Ryoua. With the Gaian technologies of plastic and refrigeration, the process is really much easier and faster, and they can keep for a while. Surely Ryoua won't refuse this little thing?

Tenkyuu raises her brow as she peers at Setsushi, watching the expression of distaste cross his features; it seems Ryoua has struck a nerve, teases the elder playfully.
But Setsushi is right, Setsushi would not miss a few extra noodles and Ryoua would be better off with such a fine meal.
Privately, Tenkyuu mentions that she will reimburse Setsushi not only for his materials but also his time. Tenkyuu truly appreciates his kindness to her children. With a pause, she glances to Setsushi and smiles warmly.
Chiyo was truly blessed in Tenkyuu's mind.

Well, Ryoua knows better than to disobey both his mother and Setsushi. Ryoua thanks him most sincerely for the offer and will gratefully accept -- certainly, the Dragon Knight's cooking is far superior to any of these manufactured meals.
And it's true, about these technologies he speaks of. Ryoua constantly finds himself amazed by how convenient they are. He and Tenryuu have one of those automatic ice-boxes, a much smaller one than Setushi's to be sure, but they have found it endlessly useful. Even if all of them find that they cannot return to--
Ryoua stops abruptly, the suddenness of this sobering thought a little unsettling.

Setsushi pauses, a brief and uncomfortable expression flashing across his face at Ryoua's thought, but he keeps his emotions sealed off.
Instead, he shakes his head at Tenkyuu. Setsushi is in infinite debt to her, he replies privately; she need not worry about petty things like the cost of food.
A little more openly, to include Ryoua in the stream of thoughts, Setsushi commands Tenkyuu to allow him to care for her in her old age. For surely Ryoua will do the same for him when he is creaky and crotchety himself, right? blaugh

And without so much as a pause, Tenkyuu snorts and folds her arms. If Tenkyuu is old, Setsushi looks downright decrepit. Tenkyuu might be his elder, but she most certainly looks younger than the saggy maiden.
And a smile peeks out of Tenkyuu's face as she walks towards Setsushi and stands on her tip-toes, tugging at his cheek now. No, no, Tenkyuu was just playing--Setsushi is most certainly still a beauty.
... Though he holds not a candle to Ryoua. After all, Ryoua came from exceptionally good blood.
And with that, Tenkyuu laughs.
