The day had passed by quickly. The overcast in the sky had dissipated closer to the arrival of the night and a chill passed through the clearing taking any warmth the day may have brought with it.

While the sun set on the horizon, displaying its warm cascading orange, red and purple hues, Olivia was enjoying the festivities, a glass of warm boiled wine in her hand and a sparkle in her eyes as she watched the adults, teenagers and children dance around the candle lit alter. It was entrancing, seeing so many individuals come together for a common purpose and bond. Whether or not the stories of bringing the rain was true or not did not matter. Simply the fact that the unity of the situation remained was the most mystical thing of all.

Ment looked around for Polly to no avail. He was planning to ask his childhood friend for a dance, but could find no hide or hair of him. He'd have to settle for someone else than; Maybe Vanyel.

Deciding he would search for her later, Ment toddled over to Olivia, sticking his nose over where her wine glass was and took whiff, "Can I have some?"

"Not while I'm coherent," was her reply.

Dr. Azalea Brick supposed she deserved Carwyn shoving both Phoenix and Celyn at her last night. She had suddenly asked Carwyn to watch Phoenix for her, and Phoenix tended to be a little... chatty, to say the least. For a panicky guy like Carwyn, that probably was not her best plan. Of course, as soon as Carwyn had heard that she was off today, he was taking his revenge.

Needless to say, now she was stuck with these two. Of course, she actually didn't mind her son's chattiness, and Celyn tended to be rather well-behaved.

Speaking of Celyn, the boy skipped along, humming to himself as he snacked on a granola bar the doctor had given him. Though it was not as sweet as his usual snack choice, the granola bar was still rather tasty.

Today, Carwyn was letting up a little bit and actually said it was alright for Celyn to dance. Therefore, the boy was a little more excited than he had been these past few days. He had really wanted to join in the dancing! He supposed his father okayed it mainly because he was not there to watch Celyn dance.

The churro boy looked over to the medicinal child that was walking on the other side of the doctor. "Phoenix! Are you going to dance too? I'm so excited!"

For once, it seemed Phoenix and Celyn agreed on a snack. The medicinal child, too, was snacking on a granola bar. However, while Celyn seemed to be okay with the snack, xe seemed to absolutely adore the granola treat. Taking a pause in his eating, Phoenix glanced up to the sky, wondering if xe should participate in this dancing that Celyn seemed so excited about.

The gregarious one decided after an anagonizing few moments, "Yeah, dancing could be fun!" With a grin, xe glanced around xir New Ma and focused on Celyn. "I hope no one's sweaty, though. Then I'll have a lot of work to do."

Kaya had her camera again and was wheeling about hecticly, snapping shots here and there of various happenings. Still, even Kaya could be a concious human being from time to time. One look at Abilene was hint enough to the woman that it was time to stop. She could tell her child didn't mean to look at all bored out of her mind, but that had been the result of Kaya's latest escapade. After all, the lotus scent had been stuck following her the entire day.

"Why don't you... go off?" Kaya managed to grate out, creating an unprecedented scene. Abilene went off on her own quite a bit anyway while the batty woman wasn't looking, but she basically never offered to give Abilene freedom unless she had to well, leave her somewhere.

Abilene had had just as much of a dull time as Kaya had noted and her dark amber eyes flicked up at Kaya's offer. She paused quietly midstep and tilted her head to the side, a sign of contemplation. "May I?"

Kaya smiled warmly. "Of course!"

And that was how the lotus scent ended up wandering around by herself, her eyes drinking in all the scenes of the rain dances. She sighed contentedly to herself, having to admit a childish happiness at her seeming freedom. Who knew? Maybe she'd dance! Her lips curved up in amusement at the thought, although she was a little surprised she'd consider such a thing. Abilene was shy and quiet, and it wasn't as if she were the most social creature in the world.

The girl silently observed those around her, noticing among them many odd sights as well as smells. Since she'd discovered Tango was a scent, as well, she was willing to bet others here shared the same attributes. She paused as she passed a very sweet-smelling boy along with one that carried the scent of, well, medicine? Her gaze fell on them and before she knew it she was staring oddly, deeply curious to test her little thesis, but not nearly bold enough.

Orpheus and Vanyel seemed to arrive at the same time, the two of them staring at each other for a moment before the male muttered something about storks and then swiftly moved past the citrus teen, the two going off in other directions.

Vanyel noticed Abilene with a slight smile, but she didn't feel the urge to interrupt her interest in the other boy that she recognized. Perhaps they would make good friends. Instead, Vanyel moved off to Ment, wanting to spend time with another scent close to her age. Big bright smile and a wave as she skipped over to him. For the final day, she'd dressed up in an orange strapless sundress dappled with lemon designs around the bottom. Oh yes, very citrusy. "Ment! How are you today?"

The male looked about at the small spattering of people that had arrived, eying up and down each unfamiliar person before moving over to Abilene. Well, he certainly didn't mind if he was interrupting her. "Most people don't like it if you stare at them so long," Orpheus commented absently as he moved to stand beside her, looking off in the same direction as she was.

Ment gave off a huff but swiftly his tune changed when he saw Vanyel. Great! Just in the nick of time. He had been wondering if she was going to show, especially since he wanted a dance partner and mostly everybody was male so it seemed awkward. He smiled as Vanyel approached and toddled up to meet her, admiring the pretty dress she had decided to wear that day.

"It looks good on you, " He commented, motioning towards the dress before giving her a hug.

Olivia watched everyone gathering, the slow affect of the boiled wine starting wasn't quite starting to set in yet. She had a high tolerance for alcohol, especially since she used to get piss drunk back in her younger days.

She couldn't help but chuckle to herself. Younger days. She certainly felt older after having to take care of a flash growing child these last few years, even if she didn't look it.

Abilene's eyes flicked up as she was addressed and blinked her amber eyes once or twice as she observed the teenager who'd come to stand beside her. "I know." The young scent lowered her eyes, though not for long. There was too much to take in to just stare at the ground like a fool.

After all, she'd just been thinking about others like herself, and a light sniff at the air informed her that Orpheus was one of those others. "Is it really so horrible?" The lotus child inquired, making a reasonable effort not to fixate her eyes on any one thing. She was well aware that if told it was rude to stare at people, she should at least try and stop. Still, her guardian had never been a prime example to go off of. She'd just have to learn through mistakes and other people, she supposed.

With the evening, Kaoru had left and returned, this time with her Guardian on her arm. She wore an elegant shaw that fell just so around her uniquely formed shoulders, enough to fight the chill of the onset of night. The pomegranate Scent was looking forward to a night-time venture for the festival, in that it was her favorite time of day (ironic as that might be), and the changing weather always heralded changes for her in a different manner. She could feel the weather on her skin as certain as she could feel the weight of her mother against her elbow; change was coming, and it was welcome.

The dutiful daughter brought her mother beneath the shelter of a tree decorated with lights, one that the flower girl might be able to see everything clearly from and enjoy it in her own way. "Keep your eyes open for a surprise," she repeated to the darker haired woman, her ruby eyes twinkling. "You'll know it when you see it." Kaoru had barely managed to keep herself from talking about Orpheus and his growth - it was something she thought the Lily Scent would prefer to display with his own flourish.

Crystal smiled up at her teenager daughter with a gentle curve of her lips. "Very well," she replied softly, patting the sun-kissed hand before lightly shooing the girl off. "Now go have fun! Don't be seen with your mother, that's embarrassing!" Delicate hands settled against her royal purple gown and lighter violet wrap, chuckling musically.

"Of course," Kaoru laughed good-naturedly, turning to disappear into the crowd.

Remi slowly made her way back to the festivities. She frowned as she remembered how she had been forced to miss the day before because of an appointment her mom had insisted she go to. Remi had pouted and begged until her throat was soar but Lizzy had not given in. Now Remi had been sure to come even though her mother and aunt weren't with her. They had both been busy and since Remi could be trusted Lizzy agreed under the circumstance that she stay near the Solace Scent stand or people who could be trusted.

Remi smiled brightly, this looked like fun! She had been sure to wear her prettiest outfit much to Lizzy's chagrin. It was a pretty sparkly light green and teal blue dress. It had halter straps and fell to her knees and twirled around her when she spun. A light white jacket wrapped around her to keep her from getting to cold. In her hair was a pretty white headband with a white ribbon attached, her gingerbread clip had been hesitantly left at home, and white sandals wrapped around her dainty feet.

Watching the people dance Remi became hypnotized by their movements. It looked so wonderful! Maybe she'd make her mom get her into dance classes. Though she wanted to dance, Remi wasn't sure if she could dance by herself, so instead swayed back and forth with her eyes closed, singing softly to herself.

Celyn laughed when Phoenix remarked that xe hoped no one was sweaty. He vaguely swatted his hand at the nearby child who was afraid of dirt. "You're silly!" declared the churro boy, shaking his head while facing away. Then, he turned back. "The dancing will be so fun that you won't even realize that people are all around you sweating! It's a good sweat! Sometimes sweating doesn't make you feel dirty afterwards."

It was apparent on Phoenix's face that xe just didn't buy that sweat did not make someone feel icky after a while, but before xe began to argue his point, he noticed that someone commented someone was staring at them. The medicinal child glanced around Celyn to get a look at the young girl and the male teenager who were both looking at them for some reason.

Of course, the overly gregarious child didn't appear to mind. Xe waved enthusiastically at the two who were staring at the two child and their current caretaker. "It's fine if you stare," chirped Phoenix. "That means we're awesome because people want to pay attention to us. By the way, I'm Phoenix! Who are you two, anyway? Oh, this is Celyn." It seemed that the medicinal child had, for the moment, forgotten his granola bar.

Dr. Brick shook her head at her little scented child. Only he would think staring is alright and then proceed to ask for names as if they should be friends...

The other young one, however, pouted after Phoenix introduced him. "Being stared at isn't fun sometimes." Celyn shook his head. "Dad told me that stalkers and ***** stare for really long times at kids, and that's bad! What if they want to take us into an alley!"

Dr. Brick groaned. Damn it, Carwyn... "Celyn, they're your age. Well, one of them is. Sometimes, your father worries far too much..."

Abilene blinked as the medicinal child awknowledged them, folding her petite hands politely in front of her. "Oh, okay." She replied softly, looking a little on the encouraged side. So maybe it was a matter of opinion as this child had said? He seemed awfully enthusiastic, after all.

"My name is Abilene." She added, offering xe and the other child a tiny smile. She was trying her hardest not to be socially dysfunctional right now although it was hard with her clear-cut preference of solitude. She desired to have friends her age, but oftentimes it didn't work out, especially not with normal children. Perhaps it was true that other scents wouldn't mind her? Or would they care that she was so excrutiatingly quiet? She wondered if there was a possibility of piqing actual conversation with her. Of course, social insercurities aside, Phoenix didn't seem so bad. The teenager beside her didn't seem so horrible, either.

Still, Abilene didn't know what to say for the churro-scented boy. "I don't want to take you into an alley." The petite child protested, glancing up to Orpheus behind her. Did he? Her look was more one of curiosity than shock, as she had barely an inkling of what Celyn had been referring to. She had merely gleaned that it was a bad thing, something she didn't want her staring to ever imply.

Moanna had come late to the last day of the dances by her mother's request. She was supposed to be dancing with the other adults, but her mother's insistent worries kept her home. She thought something bad would happen if Moanna danced with the others, but she didn't feel anything. She guessed it was for the better, because at least now she could get her mother to make an appearance.

"You are so quiet. Where is your friend you were speaking about?"

Moanna mother looked up at her. She was vastly shorter than her daughter, infact many mistook her for the child because of her height. Only 4'7" she stood, very small in comparison to others. Her curly brown messy bob'd hair bounced a little as her mother gave her a reply.

"She is around somewhere m'dear. Just gotta find her is all."

Orpheus lifted his shoulders in silent response to the girl parting his lips as if to say something before shutting his mouth and crossing his arms over his chest. A glower took the place of the impassive expression upon his face when one of the boys...girls...whatever, informed him that staring was ok. Or perhaps it was simply because he'd implied that Orpheus would possibly want to stare at something less than appealing to the eyes. No offense of course, the scent was simply not in his realm of interests.

Their dull conversation had Orpheus itching to do other things, and thankfully it was then that he noticed Crystal sitting off to the side. Of course, as Kaoru assumed, Orpheus was quite interested in showing off to the flower woman. His path to the woman could have gone in a circle around the two his conversation had been previously engaged with, but their newest comment had him smirking and stalking up to the boy known as Celyn, "Stalkers and ***** are the least of worries for children in alley ways," the teen said maliciously, pausing to tower over the child and give him a too-wide grin to give him the chills.

And then he was off, strolling over to Crystal with his hands stuffed into his pockets. "You're looking beautiful tonight," he said charmingly.

Vanyel snuggled Ment with a wide smile, ruffling his hair affectionately. "Thanks Ment. It's not spring without a great new dress," she beamed, quite proud of her most recent purchase. "What have I missed?" the teen asked, twisting around to look at everyone, wrinkling her nose as Orpheus no doubt tormented and terrified another child. New body, no new manners.

Celyn wasn't going to be frightened. He had dealt with a girl who was the very essense of mean and he had gotten her to stop being such a meanie towards him! Right! The little churro boy, instead of shrinking back and whimpering in fright, chose to puff out his chest and try and make himself feel a little better by putting his hands on his hips. While he really ended up looking a little silly, it was obvious that he was not going to let himself be scared by the tall teenager with dark hair.

When the tall teenager who tried to scare him walked off, Celyn let out a large breath before slumping over a little. Puffing out his chest was hard! Then, he grinned, "I didn't let that boy scare me!" The churro boy was rather proud of his accomplishment.

While Celyn had found the bravery not to be frightened, Phoenix appeared to be absolutely terrified. These festival events weren't very good for xir! First there was that girl who went from strange rambling to screaming at xir on the first day, and now there was a teenager who instead of accepting xir offer of niceness, threatened xir friend! Phoenix yanked on Dr. Brick's coat. "New Ma," whimpered Phoenix, "that boy is scaring me!"

Azalea sighed. Well, at least Celyn was braver than his father tended to be. "Dear, dear," she patted Phoenix's head. "Don't worry about it. That boy left now. Now, why don't you talk to that other little girl who doesn't appear to be being mean."

Celyn, with a new confidence, decided to talk to the little girl. "I'm Celyn... but I think Phoenix already said that." It seemed he had forgotten the threat of being taken into an alley by strangers. It was either that or he had simply gotten over the idea. "Who're you?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 30, 2009 3:04 am

Abilene observed Orpheus with a benign expression, not looking all that taken aback by the teenager. Indeed, her expression was more one of quiet understanding; most people weren't mean just for no reason, after all, or so she assumed. She gave him a little wave goodbye, although she doubted he'd notice. The lotus child was not at all shaken by the encounter, instead she seemed to be oddly enlightened. Perhaps it was this quality that other children disliked about the girl.

Her golden eyes danced over to Celyn and Phoenix as they conversed and she folded her hands politely before her; a usual action. She awknowledged the notice of her with something like relief, refusing to let go of her hopes to make friends with children her own age.

"Abilene." She responded, somewhat happy that he wasn't speaking about alleyways and strangers anymore.

They'd been unable to attend the second day of the festival, mostly because when the twins had gotten home they'd revealed that they'd pinched quite a few samples from the various booths. Grounded, they'd moaned and complained the entire day and drove Cyr to agree that they could visit for a few hours on the third day. So, bright and early, they'd set off for the day.

When they'd arrived, it seemed a few others had come already. Excellent, people distracted the twins far more then objects so it was safer for them really. Approaching one of the stands, he let the pair of well-dressed young Scents wander off to enjoy the sights. They looked like little body-guards, though wide eyes and curious expressions spoke more to the fact they were children.

They spotted Remi then and exchanged glances, smiling. Someone they hadn't met before! Making their way over, Lucian and Rion paused a few strides back from her before Rion stepped forward, speaking as he came up beside her, "Pretty isn't it? The dancing?"

It was then that Lucian came up on her other side, giving the illusion Rion had thrown his voice until she looked his way, "Heard anybody can dance today... what do you think?" He looked her over with a smile, "You were dancing before."
