If we are going to do this properly, we are going to need the back stories for all of the players in this. I think we should all post a small back story (at least 3 paragraphs) in here, so everyone know why they are the way they are. It also give artists for the comic some sort of insight into the character, making it easier to get there emotions an features right. The first part of drawing a subject is knowing the subject.

If you want to write more (like I'm going to) feel free to, but please post it on another site or in your journal and link to it.

Pilot Jad 'Madwing' Skyseeker's story:
Jad was born in the region known as Canada, (British Columbia region) and is of German and English descent. Having few relatives of note, Jad spent most of his childhood alone, with a yearning for air travel. Eventually he constructed a small one-man skyboat, although after his tenth flight, he crashed into the local church. His second boat he used to travel to the eastern coast, eventually coming to live in Boston, Massachusetts. There, Jad became a notorious pilot of the docks, flying his craft in ways people considered impossible. Since he was unknown, they called the pilot of the craft Madwing.

He took an airship to England around his eighteenth year, stowing his boat in a merchant vessel. Upon arrival in London, he met a lovely young woman by the name of Kendris Velana. She was a sylvan member of the aristocracy. He courted her, as she was drawn by his wild nature and carefree spirit. Her sister, Avarila, however, showed great dislike for the young sky-pilot. She was in the Royal Aerial Navy and would go out of her way to capture the elusive Jad, trying to catch him 'slipping up.'

As Jad reached the age of twenty-five, Kendris continued to have relations with him. Avarila was deployed in India as a captain, and was unable to halt their relationship. However, Avarila was killed (supposedly) in combat, and her personal vessel was bequeathed to her sister at her request. Jad received the ship from Kendris, who, knowing Jad, wished for him to travel and mature a bit before settling down. If Jad wasn't mature enough, she'd get over her distaste of lying and join him.

Jad then spent the next three years traveling and gathering souvenirs for his beloved. He developed a rivalry with an air pirate group known as the Eclipse Raiders (which many claim do not exist.) He has also taken up a dock at the Sky-city Anachronism, offering his services and hand in any adventure that will yield a good story.

Jad has two years before he must return to his beloved, yet seems to show no anxiety of that fact. Jad has been a very curious soul, and the salvage-for-hire he set his ship up as serves him well. Jad is currently 28 years old, and doesn't show age. He wears a scarf given to him by Kendris, which he treasures. The scarf is somewhat magical, in that it cannot seem to be damaged.

I know, but as a writer of the script, I'd like a bit of elaboration of the two we have...

Sorry, I know this is my fault for not displaying more information of the setting; but I've been noticing a number of people's backstories include elements which do not fit in with the setting (and a few which are directly at odds with what's being going on). As such, could people put a hold on creating backstories for characters (so's this doesn't happen)? I'm currently working on a 'quick reference' thing that'll include most things you'll need to know for creating relevant backstories for your characters.

On a related note, is there anything people want mentioned in said reference guide; the last thing I want is to effectively destroy someone's character.

Very Quick Reference

- The equivalent year is 1951.

- There are pirates, lots of them. In airships, no less.

- Aether was discovered 17 years ago, and oscillation of it began a few years after. Currently, military applications are minimal, but it can be used as an electrical power source (prone to problems). For electricity, generators are expensive but preferred.

- The likes of Tesla were given lots more funding, and as such electrical devices such as the Tesla Coil were developed sooner. [Amongst other technologies]. Wireless devices are unreliable.

- This setting is set on Earth, and obeys the laws of physics.

Captain, balloons have been around before that, though. If that's the case, Jad was till an aviator, albeit with a horrible vessel. (I doubt you've seen many rowboats suspended by balloons...)
