(( Since there are bound to be many people participating in this thread I'm going to make it so there is no post order so that we don't end up waiting on people.)) It was well past Ni-Frith and again spring was proving to be as dreary as ever. There was still a chill in the air and the skies were completely overcast while occasionally watering the land with its rain. It was after one such spring shower that several rabbits had finally ventured out from the burrows for silflay. After all, you never knew when the rain might come again and Bracken's stomach was complaining of its emptiness.
The large red rabbit slowly crept along the ground, his tattered ear drooping in his face as he sought out green edibles. His nose twitching while sniffing at a particular patch of new clover. It was there that he settled down to nibble at the foliage. His spirits were about as damp as the ground was thanks to the unpleasant weather. Still, the wet clover provided both nourishment as well as quenching his thirst. Never mind that his fur was wet up to about his shoulders. As annoying as it was, he could tolerate it for he wasn't much of a complainer.
The chief paused a moment to look up and glance around at his rabbits. The ones that were present anyway. He hoped, that for his sanity and theirs, that Frith would show himself again very soon. Taking a moment to stretch his forelimbs and yawn, Bracken winced as his shoulder cracked. His old injuries tended to act up during this sort of weather.

Sparrow was on edge. Well, he was always on edge. He had been running circles around his favorite rock for some time now, talking to his trusted "Zorn-rah", desperate to get a clearer answer from him. Of course, few others even bothered to tell him to quieten down anymore. He had the madness, and no doubt his cries would be quietened soon enough if he kept it up in this rain. Even Oakvale, his one and only friend had given in trying to calm him, and had retreated to a warm, cozy burrow after eating in this miserable weather.
Though despite this mocking, Sparrow was insistent on talking to Zorn, ever since he had muttered about something on the wind. Something was coming, something he was certain was bad. When was it ever good for a rabbit if it traveled on the wind?
But for now, his spirit remained calm and watchful, sitting proudly, unseen on the rock that Sparrow encircled like a playful kitten in summer play. It had been a few days since he had opened his mouth, choosing to go quiet and observe the forthcoming events. Zorn knew everything. He knew of the travelers, their reason for coming. He even knew which ones the black rabbit had his eye on. Yet he said nothing, he never did. Only riddles and verse. It was clear that the strange, strong lop-eared was once a story-teller of sorts, as well as a seer, using his visions to aid him in his curious, and sometimes blasphemous tales. He saw of things that wasn't just a world governed by Frith and his servant, the black rabbit. No, there were others. Many others that served Frith, some just as powerful as the great fiery ball in the sky.
He had spoke of them many a time before to Sparrow, the young buck being the only one that could listen, though for now he had chosen not to share word of these other deities. He was considered mad enough. But for now, even with a head ful of fanciful, and dangerous words. Zorn fell quiet. and it ailed Sparrow to no end. He had never been so quiet in the whole of the time Sparrow had known of the deformed rabbit.
That ended today, in this despicable weather.
I'm coming to see you, though it will bring fear, rightly so! I'm bringing my friends, and a symbolic doe. We're weary and tired, from a warren long gone, and soon you will learn of our mournful, pained song.
The voice that came from Zorn's mouth only brought fear and anguish to every inch of Sparrow's body. Something was coming. And not just one! A warren, though. Rabbits? Hlessi? Were they dangerous? They should be feared, not trusted. But who would listen to him? Why was he, such a runt amongst the ranks be trusted with such cryptic information?? He knew he wouldn't get anything more from Zorn-rah, so all that he could do was drown on the vagueness. Something was coming.. He could feel it himself now. And he certainly didn't like it.

The cool drizzle of rain that had moistened the earth and grass chilled Cowslip right down to the bone as he trod through it. If there was one thing he missed about hutch life, it was not having to be out during dreary weather to feed, otherwise wild life was perfect for the overgrown, spotted buck.
The large black and white rabbit moved further away from the warren as he searched the wet grass for tasty tidbits to nourish himself with and, while munching away to fill his rumbling gut, he couldn't help but watch the strange, running buck that was making such a commotion.
Cowslip was still relatively new to the warren and had yet to meet the resident, the one who others spoke of often in conjunction with the words "mad" and "nutty." While the one time hutch rabbit was unfamiliar with the buck, he did know the strange creature might catch his death out here, behaving in such a manner. Lazily, the spotted buck moved towards the nervous creature and tilted his head to one side as he watched Oakvale's antics.
"What troubles you so, eh? Ye'll get sick flouncing around like that, y'know."
The soaked male sat back on his wide, dappled haunches and peered down at the nervous Sparrow with curious, pale eyes. He almost immediately folded an ear and cleaned it hastily, feeling slightly foolish in approaching the one others had given up on in this particular dreary day.
"Is there something the matter? I'm Cowslip, by the way."

Sparrow nearly leapt into the heavens as Cowslip spoke to him. He was certainly one of the most skittish in the warren, by far. He landed and pounded his foot into the ground briefly through nerves. It wasn't strong enough to send alarm bells ringing through the warren, however. He had never been good at thumping the right spot to echo the call through the ground, even accidentally.
He turned to look over his shoulder at the curiously colored Buck. The had heard tales of farm creatures that looked similar, sometimes more of a brown and white. Having never strayed too far from Watership Down, he had never personally seen such docile creatures. But that was besides the point.
"Is something the matter??" He repeated, almost a little hysterical, before moving to turn to the larger buck. "Is something the matter?!?" Again, he repeated the question, a little more panicked. "We're all doomed, that's what's the matter. There's something on the wind. Something to be feared. They're coming straight for us and we're just sitting ducks." He whined, barely breathing between words, crouching low as he looked around with wild, frightened eyes.
"Getting sick is the last of our worries. At least maybe Inle will take us before it happens.. It's coming.. Some thing's cominngg..."
Zorn-rah, however, seemed much more amused, and simply sat on his rock, cleaning his own ears.
What a handsome buck. Painted like such a strong, calm creature. I wonder if his personality matches.
Sparrow-roo snapped out've his slight delirious state at the sound of Zorn's voice, barking at him. "Is that all you can say?? In a time like this you can only talk about the fact he looks like a Cow??"
Well his name does happen to be Cowslip.. Did you not hear him?
It had totally slipped his mind that Cowslip couldn't hear or see the form that was tormenting him so much, and so thought little of talking to an invisible being on a rock.

Perhaps the words the others used, "mad" and "nutty," really didn't do the poor buck justice.
When Sparrow jumped and struck the earth with his paw, Cowslip had half the mind to retreat back to the warren, or at least to the small group of rabbits that had ventured out into this foreboding weather to feed. The panicked tone and repeating of his own question only increased this sudden feeling, but he kept his four paws rooted to the spot and his expression was one of high amusement.
Wild rabbits certainly could be a wee bit strange, though they most likely thought the same of hutch rabbits. He hadn't met another who howled at him about death and doom. And now he was fussing at a rock. He couldn't help but to tilt his spotted head to one side and his long ears swiveled. What on earth caused a rabbit to behave in such a way? In an attempt to remain calm and collected, and in the hopes of calming the strange buck in doing so, he remained passive and almost cheerful as he spoke.
"Heh, guess I do look like a cow, don't I? Name fits, really." He prattled in a soft tone as he sat back on his haunches once more.
"Now, what is all this about doom and gloom? Have you any idea what it might be? Homba, maybe? Or another one of the Thousand? Perhaps Bracken-Rah ought to know and the rest of the rabbits can return to the safety of the warren." He mused.

The thumping from Sparrow was at least enough to raise a few heads, Bracken's included. However, they all recognized the eccentric buck and simply went back to their feeding. One however, decided to take this opportunity to bully the pathetic rabbit. Cocklebur was soon beside Cowslip and sneering a bit at the speckled idiot who was making such a fuss. "What are you prattling about now?" He then snorted lightly as the buck also seemed to be speaking to the rock. The hefty captain then turned to Cowslip, "Pay this fool no mind. He's always going off like this. Bracken doesn't need to be bothered with the likes of him... AGAIN." The last word emphasized with a glare shot at Sparrow. Baring his teeth, Cocklebur approached the lunatic and loomed over him. Glaring down with his menacing red eyes. "Now calm yourself and be silent! You make everyone around you uneasy."

Sparrow could see the other look uncertainly at him. He could tell that he thought about as highly of him as a lame newborn kitten. A runt who'd never make it long enough to enjoy their first silflay. He knew how it was. He'd be mocked and taunted till the day Inle would finally show his hallowed face to his rare colored eyes.
But he was new, he could tell. He didn't have such a mocking tone as the others. Others would snigger and sneer at him, nudging each other as they bombarded him with questions about Zorn-rah and his poems.
"N-no.. Nothing like the Thousand.. Something not seen before. It comes from a warren, and flies on the wind.. We should fear it.. I know that much.. Yes! Yes we should! Bracken-rah should know! He'll know what to do!" He seemed rather desperate for someone to plead his case with him. Alone, Sparrow would likely be ignored. It wasn't the first time he had spoken to Bracken, but with nothing as large as this. He had mentioned about Zorn-rah, before, though it was clear that there was skepticism. The black rabbit took the souls away, everyone knew that, so why would Zorn remain? Zorn himself wouldn't say.
He ran around Cowslip though, urging him to either come with, or run away. He needed support on this, or else he'd just be mocked more. Though of course, it ran the risk of Cowslip being mocked as well for joining in on this charade willingly.
Cockleburr was an excellent example of this, and as the Grey rabbit warned Cowslip of him, he knew it was all over. He backed away from the Owsla, slipping behind his rock, as if it offered protection.
"You don't understand, sir! It's something really serious.. It'll kill us all, i'm sure!"

Cowslip listened intently, though he seriously doubted that what the speckled rabbit said was true. Coming from a warren and flying on the wind? The only creatures he knew to fly were the birds, and what bird came from a warren?
"A bird, perhaps? They fly on the wind and it wouldn't surprise me if they lived like we do, in large groups. maybe they some times call their trees warrens?" He tried to reason as the smaller buck circled him, urging him to make some sort of move, but he had little idea which one to do. To leave the smaller buck out in the rain would do no good, at least in his own eyes, but to willingly partake in something so strange could be the last he got along well with other rabbits in the warren.
What an interesting turn of events!
He felt his fur bristle as the large Captain bounded up beside him. Had the spotted buck been born to the wild ways of the rabbit, he might of been a match. He was easily the same size, but seasons of soft living had not prepared him for fighting and it would take some time before he would feel ready. He was willing to throw his weight around, but not with such an elite rabbit.
"It has happened before, then, sir?" He inquired, if anything to strike up conversation. Maybe a small chat would distract him from approaching the smaller rabbit any more violently. At least that was what the black and white rabbit hoped for.

How far had they travelled? Bramblebur had forgotten. But he did know was how proud he was of them. They had run so long. They had run so far. Yet, there they all were. Every rabbit that had fled all still remained. A bit worse for wear but all nine were still alive. The striped buck knew that that too may not be the case in the times to come considering from where they had fled.
The scent of other rabbits had been growing stronger the further the group pressed on. Finally, a sign of hope. An established warren. The group had come an area on the very outskirts of said warren. There were signs of other rabbits everywhere, which was a very welcome sight when compared to the dangerous wilds that they had braved. The joy of seeing a new warren was also tinged with a feeling of trepidation. They were not the most inviting hlessi that could wander in. What with their having fled so much death and the disease which may well have followed them. Not to mention the two darker oddities, Ninebark and Vreka.
No matter! They were still together and for the first time in a while there was a glimmer of hope. Bramblebur knew that they still had to be careful until their presence was made known and saw how this warren treated unexpected guests.
The sturdy, steadfast Owsla captain sat up on his haunches and looked to his grouping of rabbits. He could imagine that they felt as fatigued and weary as he, if not more so. The chilly air, the drizzling rain, and the damp soil that their paws pressed into was just another trouble that seemed to follow them. "See now, everyone. A chance for a new beginning. I must say, I am proud to have travelled along side you all. Each of you are a marvel in your own rights." His dark tipped ears swiveled this way and that. "For the time being, we must still be cautious and respectful. We do not know how these rabbits greet strangers. Do any of you have anything that you wish to have voiced before we make our presence known, if it isn't already. I'd like to make as good an impression as possible." Bramblebur was unfamiliar with the area so he wasn't sure if this warren had special places that allowed those Owsla on patrol to see without being seen themselves.

__________________Mud--
Mud looked about what was all this about? He had joined the group when cocklebur did, he followed him closely learning what it takes to be in the owsla. He turned the crazy bunny he knew as sparrow was making the warren uneasy.
He looked about as he waited to see or hear what this danger was that the bunny was talking about.
'Probably gone mad' he thought to himself. Plus cocklebur thought that was the reason too. No doubt why the captain thought this bunny crazy, mud thought he was too.
He thought to himself though if this danger was perhaps true, maybe like some bunnies before who could predict the future...maybe he was one of them. Or he is as crazy as he looks. Mud shook his head is disgust the warren did not need weak rambling frightful bunnies that talk to things and think they know what is to come. It was things like this that made mud mad at his chief but he pushed it away maybe this rabbit is still in the warren for a reason.
'maybe something is lurking'
He thought as he turned around to cowslip who suggested it a bird.
"Can't be a bird if this rabbit says it is not of the thousand that eliminates all things that prey on us"
he said feeling a bit rude since he was a kitten correcting an adult. But he was only being wise and truthful. He looked down thinking hard of the possibilities.
"Well if what sparrow says is true perhaps it is a flood or fire, but I cannot personally make myself all worried and prepared on the words of a bunny who has no proof of what he says."
Mud said speaking his mind stating that if something were to happen it could be bad but he will not get ready for something that may not come or happen. He understood everyones views, cowslip for being cautious and cocklebur for thinking this rabbit a loony. Even as cocklebur told this bunny off he had no empathy for sparrow or anyone, he never has.

U'tuhlroo had ventured further from the safety of the burrow than most of the other rabbits. It was cold, wet and unpleasant, but she had found some really good flay the other day and wanted another go at it before someone else found and ate it all. Tender dandelion leaves had started to sprout in the shelter of a thorny bush and to her delight she found that they were still there for her to eat.
After finishing the more easy to reach ones she carefully reached under the bush to nibble. That was when the wind turned bringing a terrifying scent of death and disease. The doe jerked her head back, scratching her nose on the bush in the process. Something bad was out there.
After wiping the blood off her nose with a paw she stood up on her hind legs to get a better idea of what she had scented. Like disease, and rabbits... She bolted and ran up the hill towards the safety of the warren. And stopped only when she saw the chief. She should probably tell someone and not just run for it, right?
"Anyone," she panted heavily making it difficult to speak, "Anyone missing? Is... everyone accounted for? Stinks of death... Down there."
A drop of blood fell between her paws and she groomed her scratched nose again.

Sparrow whined some more, clutching at his ears as he hopped around nervously behind his rock, seeking guidance or, well anything from the lord of disaster that watched over him, perched, invisible as the wind itself on the rock the small rabbit found himself attached to. The runtish seer was under attack from questions and scrutany, and there was no way to actually prove anything.
Then Zorn-rah turned his heavy head, looking towards U'tuhlroo. He smiled softly, like he always did when his predictions showed themselves to be true.
Why don't you ask her..? Zorn spoke, motioning to the panicked looking doe as she started to speak in her worried tone to the chief.
Sparrow noticed her fear as well, as it would soon spread like wild fire. "Yes yes! The Doe! Look! She's seen it too! She knows of the death on the wind! It's here it's here!!" He called, rather panicked and crazed by his own fear of what lay in store for them. "Ask her! She'll tell you!"

Dewberry, of course, was more than excited to see other rabbits, and was quick to groom herself down to make herself more than just presentable for these new comers. She, a princess of sorts and most favorite offspring of the chief back home, was more than glad to be able to split away from the rest of the group.
No doubt they'd have heard of her beauty from afar, and there was no way any of the prized owsla that lived in such a well established warren would be able to resist doting on her properly, unlike Bramblebur who treated all of them as equals, from near royalty to the freaks that likely brought the death upon them to begin with.
Of course, she was unaware of the message of her scent and smell that would ring alert through the very foundations of this warren, especially with the crazed buck up on the hill panicking about what they could bring to the place. No amount of sheer beauty could ever cover up the fact that she was just as diseased as the others, and could easily just drop dead without warning, just like the other rabbits back home. There was no signs, till it was far too late, and your death would come quickly, like if you stood too long on a road. But Dewberry had little knowledge of either.
And so, without a second thought, ignored Bramblebur's warning without a second thought, and merely hopped out into the lush field to make her presence known. Even with the rain and drizzle, one would easily notice such bright markings that adorned her. Of course, she thought little of it, and instead just looked around for the closest male she could try to charm with her looks. She'd need a friend, if nothing else, to protect her, and Bramblebur just wasn't good enough, in her books. She needed to be treated as highly as she thought she deserved, and naturally, the strong Owsla wasn't doing such a thing.

"H'oh, no good, no good at all."
Only these words escaped the red furred lop as he sat back on his haunches and observed the female that strode so confidently out into the lush field, so near to the new rabbits. His heart beat sped up and his pale pink eyes widened as she made their presence more easily known and his large, dark body began to quake with fear.
"The death! She carries it closer!"
"They'll scent it! They will! She's going to ruin our chance!" The quaking rabbit turned his head and gaze to fall on their Captain, the one who had led them this far. He would surely know just how to handle the situation, right? Ninebark was certain Dewberry would spread fear before ever a word reached this new warren.

"Our friend is clearly delirious, small one, so perhaps he is not thinking clearly. It was merely a suggestion to calm him and I know very well that they are part of the Thousand." Though Cowslip remained straight faced and almost pleasant, it would of been impossible to miss the slight, chastising tone in his solid voice. Had Mud been older, perhaps the usually easy going rabbit would of been a wee bit more aggressive in the situation. Nerves were running high due to Sparrow's odd behavior and Cowslip's silver eyes narrowed as he moved a few paces from the Captain and his little shadow.
He sat back on his haunches and his large, spotted ears swiveled as he listened to the one called U'tuhlroo speak. He couldn't help but to bristle, especially as Sparrow began raving again. He tested the air, but currently could not catch the scent on the wind, not until it shifted in the right direction.
"Look, there is another rabbit down there!" He called as he caught both sight and scent of the beautiful doe. The smell of death and disease she brought with her was enough to cause him to quiver slightly.
This was not good.
Perhaps she was the one Sparrow was warning about...
