I came back from Iraq in 2006 and I havent gotten any better. Ive been hospitalized 4 times, I have to take numerous medications throughout the day both for pain and depression, I cant keep a job for more than a couple months, and my relationship with my wife is continually degenerating( we were seperated for a year but are now back together). I have been through two month long programs at the VA and have been seeing numerous pyschologists and psychiatrists but nothing has helped. If there are any other vets that have any suggestions it would be much appreciated

Therapy only works when you are ready for it and truly want it.

Being with other vets helps sometimes. People who haven't done what we have ... it can be a wall that we don't even know we react to.

I don't know. I'd have to talk with you a bit more, but bnot about what happened then. There's always something now that causes the then to become the now. Understand?

Hope this helps. I gotta go to work. I'll check in later.

i knowsome ppl get better by talk to new recruits about whats in store for them and seeing that the fear is a universal thing. at least that helped my dad when he got back.

Without knowing more, it's hard to say what will help you individually.

I wish you luck, though.

Alright brother, only thing that helped me was a good glass of whiskey and some good american a**. I have been dealing with my problems since my first deployment and i have now carried them into my second. i hate the Iraqis for what they did to my buddy and i wish i could kill them all. Seek counciling and tell them you dont want meds and i think they can give alternate treatment though. Best of luck

I got back a few months ago...second deployment. I came back with no issues since other then being OCD with everything in my house. ((Was the Supply NCO and I'm now very organized its sick, lol.)) But really I have no mental health issues.

What I will say is stay away from the booze. We all seen the death by power points. And to relive stress I vented on Gaia a few times. Just cause posting and getting some feedback from people I don't know in RL helps me.

Sadly that is my only advice. sweatdrop Hope everything works out for you.
