At long last, a time of peace has reached the lands of Octuro. The gnomish empire of Adrianople has agreed to a peace treaty with the Octurans in the newly formed capital city of Claystone. The war took several lives and destroyed many cities, but at long last, there is peace.
...Or at least, so the people would like to think.
On a mission of peace, an unknown assailant assassinated one of Adrianople's well-respected diplomats, Pietho DeLeon II. No one knows who, how, or why they did it, but the Adrianopli government assumed it was the people of Octuro that killed him.
This is where you come in:
You are asked to look into the death of Sir DeLeon, find out what really went on with his death, and report your findings to Adrianople. The last thing Octuro needs is another war.

Rules:
1) Follow the ToS 2) If you have any questions concerning the campaign, let me know. This thread will be dedicated to storing information prior to the start of the campaign. 3) Everyone will be starting at level 7 (standard item rules apply). 4) The only restriction is that there are no warforged. While the age is best described at being at the advent of gunpowder development, this will ensure that no one runs a warforged barbarian (not that its a bad thing, but I'd prefer not having them gain deathless rage).

Information to know:
Octuro: The main empire of this campaign. One of two powerful nations (the other being Adrianople), Octuro is built in a standard D&D setting. The tech level is on par with Renaissance Europe, on the advent of gunpowder.
Claystone: The newly formed capital city of Octuro. The emperor, having been killed during the final conflict of the Adrianopli War, has yet to be decided, and with this recent conflict, many Adrianopli spies have entered the city. The city is the third largest in the world, and is easily the most corruptible, with a variety of shady characters (and surprisingly, well-kept brothels). Many gangs have made their home here, but law enforcement has been increasing to remove these gangs from the streets.
Adrianople: The gnomish empire of the far northwest. Built off of the concept of Colonial Spain, it is a notion known for its naval prowess, its coffee, mercantile, and, naturally, gunpowder. This is the nation where Pietho DeLeon II is from.

Just a few quick notes:
1) Balasar "The Scaley" is just an NPC, and doesn't count towards the party total. I'm thinking 4 for a party.
2) Think of the time setting as if it were, say "Pirates"-esque. Oh, and there will be ship fights. Why else would I have a dragonborn pirate?

We won't be out at sea fairly often, so your spells are fine.
As for your class, I think playing a Wizard is fine, unless you want to switch to a different controller?
