So for those of you who don't know, i'm moving to Edmonton in a few months. Unofficially, it should be about the first week of June. That's like three months omg i just realized how short of a time that is.
Ugh.
So Aaron's gotten a job with a large firm named Kiewit. They helped to build the Golden Gate Bridge and s**t. Learn more here. He'll be working as a Field Engineer, and earning a metric shitton of money immediately with opportunities for advancement in the company, plus they pay us to move there and they'll pay 10% cost of living wherever we live as long as he's working for them. So it's no question at all as to whether or not we're going.
What else do i have to say? OH! The dates and everything aren't quite finalized yet, Aaron's still got to receive a letter from them telling him exactly where he's placed, the dates of his training, and info on how/when to move. Oh, and we have to go look at houses/apartments and get furniture and omg i'm kind of excited and kind of freaked.
So far we haven't gone to look at anything, but i'm kind of hoping to find something nice within our price range that allows pets.. because i really don't know what i'd do without my pixie kitty. I seriously don't sleep nearly as well without her on my pillow. And i just know she'd love it because she'll have the whole place to roam around without getting bullied by the other, bigger kitties. Plus she'll have a whole food/water bowl to herself, litterbox to herself, and all the toys will be nothing but hers. Seriously, if there is a nicer place that doesn't allow pets vs a slightly lower quality place that does, i'd choose the pets over it. But not too low quality... if it's like a crack house in the slums it ain't happening.
Ya. That's all i've got for now, but i guess i'll update this with more info as it comes along. I mean it's like 3 months right? There'll be more to it.

OMG eek Do you and Aaron already live together, or are you going to be moving in together for the first time?
Are you going to school there? Or just working?
Is Edmonton far away from where you live now?
Moving is so exciting! biggrin You have to post a million pics of your new home when you move in.

He lives at his mom's and i live with my parents at the moment.
There's no school for me at the moment over there, but i'll hopefully be apprenticing as a pastry chef if i can find somewhere that'll have me.
I'm so exciting. I'll be taking hundreds of pictures of all the prospective places and then hundreds more of the one we choose. Edmonton is a whole province away. It's upwards of an 8 hour drive. I'm in Saskatchewan currently, and it's in Alberta. :3

So i've been looking at online listing for apartments in Edmonton and prospects are looking pretty decent. There are a number of places in the central area of the city going for roughly 700-875 depending on the place, and most allow pets for a 100-200 one-time fee. I'd be more than willing to pay that to take my baby with me.
They look pretty decent from the pictures, but of course we'd have to go down there and take a look at them to really get a feel of what they're like. Still no word on Aaron's exact placement though, and unfortunately we can't really make a move on anything until that happens.

hot! RCMP Isn't contacting Evan about whether or not he's accepted for at least another year, so I'm taking a baking and pastry course over in Nova Scotia next year. Is lol that we both had decisions made about next year around the same time. xD Are you flying or driving there?

We have to drive because i'm taking my car and it would be stupid and lame to have it like airlifted or some s**t instead of taking an 8 hour drive. Probably would take longer too. I'm super excited though because they've got cable cars in edmonton and i RLYRLY want to ride a cable car.
Also pixie, I WANNA TAKE A PASTRY COURSE! XD

Exciting indeed! biggrin
I loooooove looking for places to live online. I do it ALL the time even though I never actually move anywhere rofl Its just so fun to think about living in places.
8 hours isnt too long of a drive, it will go by fast smile Do you get to hitch a trailer or something to the back of your car to put all your stuff in? BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE FUN TO DRIVE!! biggrin

I don't know yet! surprised Kiewit pays Aaron to move to their location so i dunno how things are supposed to get set up and everything yet.
We have two vehicles to get up there so i suppose there'll be the two cars filled up and then maybe a van or a trailer or something?

How soon is too soon to start packing? We're down to 24 days left before i'm done with work, after which time there will be a week before the month is over and a week before Aaron's first day at work. I've got a ton of things to go through before that time and i just don't know if a week is going to be enough time to pack, on top of finding somewhere to live between now and then. So how soon is too soon? Areas to go through & packCloset Under Futon On Top of Futon Under Bed Bookcase Desk Bedside Table Shoe Corner Top of Dresser Inside of Dresser Top of Bookcase Under Desk What do you think? Should I start gathering at least some of those areas and packing them away? I don't use the majority of the stuff on a daily basis anyway. Things under my futon and in my closet are mainly art supplies, board games, books, stuffed animals, and misc. paper trash. Opinions?
