My gold fish is unsucessfully trying to swallow an otocat. it is STUCK in his thoat. i tried to pull it out but it has barbs or something? Any ideas?????HELP

*add* He's ok now. He spit it out or swallowed it. I've never heard of a goldfish acting like this though.

This fish is a terror! I'm afraid to put him in with other goldfish now. As you can see this was not a small Oto. Atleast the goldfish is OK. I thought it was stuck because I COULD NOT pull it out of his mouth but he spit it out when I wasn't looking. the cat was actually still ALIVE (but he later died)

Hmm, I've heard of golds doing this before. Gold will eat anything they think fits, wether its actually edible or not. They will even eat chocolate. They don't seem to have a hunger limit eighter.
But Other golds should be ok around him as long as their head is bigger then it's mouth. I think that even through the insatiable hunger they generally still don't label their own species as food.

yeah goldfish arent aggressive in that they will attack other fish
they are just HUNGRY
you should be able to keep it with other goldfish so long as they dont look like they may fit into its mouth
