As much as Doto enjoyed his time with Giza, he was glad to be alone to have his own brand of fun. Hers was much different to his, after all. She liked to make art, which he had come a long way to actually consider it that. He remembered first coming up to her and that mouse carcass, which she had ripped up with her claws. He had not been too nice about it.
But now he had changed that opinion. Now he felt like he understood what she was so attracted to. Causing physical pain was just as masterful and articulate as causing mental pain. So long as one knew how to do it.
Doto had managed to catch a rather large rabbit, which he was currently playing with in a corner away from the den. He didn't want his siblings or parents to find him playing his vicious little game, after all. They wouldn't understand. He had the creature pinned, its legs broken, and he was slowly peeling strips of skin from it. He was going as slowly as he could, not just to torture, but to make sure his cuts were precise and each removed piece was the same. He had a small pile beside him.
He was humming as he worked, as content as any other cub playing a game.

Nkosazana grumbled to herself as she slunk away from the den, she never stayed too close to home anymore attempting to prove that she could take care of herself. She was still upset over her inability to catch anything substantial on her own, she had managed a rabbit with the help of another lioness, but she had yet to catch anything proper sized on her own.
Her ears perked and her eyes narrowed curiously before she inhaled and frowned. It seemed her brother was near, and it smelled like fresh meat. She followed the scent curiously wondering how he had managed to accomplish what she had yet to. She crouched low and tried to sneak up behind him, however upon seeing his stripping the rabbit she stood curiously and tilted her head. "What are you doing Doto?"

Doto bristled at the voice. He was annoyed that he hadn't heard someone approaching, too wrapped up in his little game. That was a big mistake, one that could be fatal if the wrong person found him. His assassin friend would not be pleased if he told her he let it happen. Tense, he looked back at her, red eyes recognizing his sister quickly enough.
"I was just exploring," he said, his face expressionless for a long, quite moment. And then he grinned, "this rabbit's skin, I mean."
He stood, stepping to the side so she could see it. He watched her impassively, wondering how she would react. He knew enough from watching her, as he did all his siblings, to know where her apparent insecurities were. It was just another game he liked to play.
"I caught it myself," he drawled nonchalantly, "so I figured it wouldn't do anyone any harm if I used it how I wanted to. It's not like I needed anyone to help me, and had to share it."

Zana stepped forward struck silent for a moment, the broken legs, the skin being flayed from the creature, these were things she had never seen. Normally when food was caught it was eaten...not explored. A part of her was curious to try such an exploration for herself, it would feel good if she ever caught anything. She turned to her brother her fur bristling at his words.
"Hmph, Your just...bigger thats all...soon I'll be able to nab plenty of these on my own." She sat down and tried to appear unruffled, but her eyes blazed with emotions contained. She would show them all, she didn't need anyone's help, soon she would be an adult and capable of doing everything for herself.
Slowly she started to relax, after all Doto couldn't have MEANT to prickle her sensitive feelings in regards to her lack of hunting success. Her voice softened as well and she glanced back at the rabbit. "Why are you doing it like that?"

Doto tilted his head, watching her impassively. His red eyes burned as he absorbed her reaction. He noticed the way her fur prickled, the way her muscles seemed to tighten and twitch. He blinked, one expressive eyebrow arched ever so slightly, betraying an extreme depth of interest on his otherwise completely blank face.
"I'm bigger, that's true. I'm a male, which helps. Being small and feminine has it's drawbacks, I'm sure. Though, my friend is only slightly older than you, and she's quite capable of catching her own little kills like this. I wonder if it's more a skill issue than a size issue?" He hummed, trying to sound innocent and instead sounding nothing but mocking.
He liked the way she looked. Upset, affected, like such simple little comments had the ability to ruin the rest of her day. He smiled thinly, tail flicking behind him. He looked down at the rabbit with a strange fondness in his eyes.
"I like to see how it reacts," he said simply, "It's still alive, you see, and it's going through these different stages, the longer I play with it. It's interesting to see how it changes."

'Zana turned and looked at doto uncertainly, was her brother trying to provoke her? Her eyes narrowed slightly before she turned back to the rabbit her muscles tense. A part of her wanted to explore the strips of flesh.
"Yes well, she is older, I'm close...I'll manage soon..." He voice sounded slightly distant, his prickling comments did not affect her the same because her focus on the rabbit was so intense.
It was indeed still alive and she wondered how it felt, if it would welcome death or even mutilated as it was if it would, could, try to escape. She padded slightly closer her muscles rippling beneath her dark fur. "How long can you keep it alive?" she asked in an almost reverent tone, wondering how her brother managed such a feat with such a small weak animal.

Doto shrugged, considering.
"It's hard to tell. The last one died pretty quick, but I think it's heart stopped. This one seems a bit braver, I guess. But I have to watch the blood loss. That's probably the biggest thread for it dying fast. After that, with all those open wounds, it'll probably die from infection before it starves or dies of dehydration."
He nodded, having a bit too much practice in torturing little animals. He looked at her in surprise. He had not thought any of his siblings would appreciate the same kind of things he did. He always imagined if one of them were to find him they would be angry or disgusted. He knew Kavu would probably flip out.
"Do you want to play with it?"

'Zana twisted around slightly confused by her brothers question, did she want to play with it? No...the poor thing it would be wrong to cause it more suffering...yet a part of her was curious. After all it was just a rabbit, it was weak, and she was stronger, wasn't that how it worked? She swallowed back her confusion and nodded softly her crimson eyes still focused on the fluffy animal.
"Y-yes, can you show me how you take the skin off like that...it's not all shredded." She slunk closer her body crouching low to the ground while her eyes remained focused on the creature suffering before her.

Doto watched her as she considered her options. It was funny to watch people with morals trying to combat them. Doto found that impulse was often linked to desire, and from that stemmed hesitance. Trying to tell yourself that it was wrong was just a defense mechanism, imparted by the ethical stylings of those around. Like family, and friends. Doto trusted himself more than any one else, and knew that to inhibit his impulses was to stifle his passions.
And why would he want to do that? Because what he liked to do wasn't kind? It was cruel? Unusual? He didn't really care about any of that.
He grinned when she spoke.
"It's not that hard, though I'm still working on making all the pieces match. It gets tricky, getting it to be all one size instead of taking out a chunk. You use your claw, and sort of etch out a pattern you want to follow. It's slow, but the focus makes it pretty... fun." He nodded, red eyes flashing.
He motioned with her paw that she should try, not one for teaching by example. If she wanted to learn, she would simply have to make it up. That's how he did it, anyway.

Slowly she approached and hunkered down over the rabbit her eyes narrowed into ruby slits as she focused. Black claws slid from usually soft and gentle paws and she dug them into the rabbit to hold it still.
Feelings the living creature quivering beneath her paw was a heady sensation, she licked her lips and moved her over paw to carefully scrape away the fur. She tilted her head and watched as the strings of tissue tried to cling to the skin and slowly tore away. Finally she pulled away a large square of fur from the rabbit's side and moved away from the twitching animal to examine what she had done.
She stroked the soft fur with a gentle paw, her claws sheathed as she relaxed. "How big a piece can you get off?" Her looked up at her brother curiously, now it was a game, which of them could pull away the nicest patch.

The young black lion watched his sister as she moved to the rabbit. He would of course correct her mistakes when she was done, but for now he wasn't about to interrupt before she tried on her own. He liked watching people doing new things, particularly when he knew how to do them and thought himself better.
He grinned.
He nodded at her work, then tilted his head at her question.
"As much as you want, I suppose. It'll peel away in different areas, in different ways. The skin is thinner in some areas, and thicker where it gets the most wear. But if you wanted, you could probably skin something whole. Only if you had the right skills, though. I mean. It'd take practice."
He tilted his head up and looked confident.
"I'm not sure there's enough undamaged skin left on that one to show you how much I could take off."

'Zana crouched low her eyes and ears focused on the rabbit before she looked up at her brother slightly stunned. "I...I think...it's still alive?" The thought that the small creature managed to keep it's tiny heart thudding made her feel both ashamed and elated.
The power over it's tiny life was a rush for her it made her want to go back out and attempt once again to catch something on her own. Still the knowledge that she had hurt something, something weaker and defenseless it left her feeling dirty. The emotions mixed within her chest and she turned away from the tortured rabbit.
"Can you really take the whole skin off in one piece?" She looked at her brother wondering how much practice he had at this little sport.

Doto didn't have to struggle with moral ambiguity. As far as he was concerned, this was as harmful as letting the rabbit stay alive long enough to get hunted by some other animal. So he liked to play with his food? Watch it writhe in pain and listen to the noises it made. So sometimes he played with it, and then just left it, wasting it. If he caught it, it was his to do with as he wanted.
He didn't really care if that struck anyone else as wrong.
"I probably could. No, I'm sure I could. It would take a really long time, and the thing would probably die before I finished, but I'm sure I could do it. I mean, I'd have to cut around bits like toes and places on its face, but I think that's acceptable. It would still be a pretty whole skin."
He grinned.
"If you want to see me do it, though, you'll have to catch something and bring it to me." It was a challenge, because he knew she hadn't been able to successfully hunt, and that it bothered her. He tilted his head inquisitively, wondering if she would take the challenge.

Death would be a mercy to the animal certainly, but Zana was curious to see if her brother really could remove a skin in such a fashion. She wanted to see such an act performed, but his words made her go cold. Doto seemed to know that she had failed in all her hunt attempts. Her stomach cramped and growled since she was now refusing to take any but the bare minimum of food, she wanted to eat what she caught, not be fed like an infant.
Her ruby eyes narrowed and she threw her head back cockily "That shouldn't be a problem, I'll bring you a nice big juicy rabbit. We'll see if you can really skin it the way you claim." Her heart clenched slightly, where and how she was going to manage to get any rabbit let alone a large one she was uncertain of.

"Will you? That's good," Doto said, sounding surprised and condescendingly encouraging, "because I thought you might have some trouble catching anything. Big or small. You could always ask dad to help you, I'm sure he wouldn't mind."
Actually, he probably would. Their father was a bit of a jerk. Doto didn't much like his father, though the older lion was a kind heart under all the gruffness. He was just something of a rival for the younger male, someone to strive to be better than. For Doto, getting help from their father was impossible. But it seemed like a fun thing to poke his sister with.
"But I'm glad you feel so confident! We'll meet up in a little while, I'll give you a couple of days I guess, and see if you can come up with something. I know there are a lot of rabbits around here. I mean, this one wasn't that hard to catch. For me, anyway," he grinned, "how about that?"
He looked at the rabbit, done with it for now. He wasn't going to kill it and end its suffering, though. He'd just watch quietly until it died. It would be interesting to see how long it had left, and Doto had a wealth of patience.
