Early February, 109
Domonique let out a brisk cough as he stood beside his female wolf. Glazedpaw had to be the perfect wolf, pure grey all around exept for the white angelic wings he had dyed into her fur, followed by the dark black sash around her neck. Flipping a slip of paper over the top of a rather large clip board Domonique seemed to be reading random papers, files. Obviously these had to belong to someone, "You just had to make me do this didn't you Glazed," a dark low grumble undertones his voice.
Oh come now Dom, I think this will be good for you. Get to know someone get out in the open more. This could be an opportunity for you to improve your fighting, to become a better person. Glazed lifted her nose and sniffed, and maybe get over this rather odd fear you have.
Flipping another paper over the clipboard Domonique grunted. "Wonderfull, still doesn't tell me if this Keeva is male or female." Tapping the pen on the clipboard Domonique proceeded to write on the paper. "I can at least hope he doesn't show up late, there are way to many papers for him to fill out not to mention still have to fit him up with his house." Looking over to see Glazed roll her eyes Domonique sighed. He had no idea where to begin.

Strolling causally towards her meeting place, Keeva Brady let out a yawn. She found all the droll, blood-red uniforms boring; it made everyone seem the same, and everyone being the same was...well, boring. She had added a long white and yellow beaded necklace to her uniform, along with a line of silver bracelets crawling up her wrist. Her long brown hair was pulled back today with a large clip, and she had added a colorful rainbow weaved belt. THAT oughta get her noticed.
Not that she needed too much extra detail to get noticed. She was a curvy young woman, and normally it was those curves that got attention. At least from the males anyway. Just the way she liked it. Snapping back to her task, she called for her wolf to hurry up. "Dawn, our Patron is waiting, and you're making us late. C'mon!" she urged forcefully to her purple wolf.
Trailing behind her rider, PaleDawn was taking it slow on purpose. She hadn't quite understood everything Keeva had told her...something about another wolf and human, and normally she would see that as a wild adventure, but today...well, today there was a bone. Not just any bone. A real bone, that she had found, on her own. And that was much more important than another wolf. She chewed merrily as she struggled slightly to keep up with her rider. Well, it was a pretty big bone, after all. She didn't want to drop it.
Rolling her eyes at Dawn, Keeva glanced up ahead. "Look, there they are. Let's go. NOW." Speeding her step up, Keeva soon arrived at a man with fiery hair and a wolf wearing a sash. Was that them? "Er...Apprentice Keeva Brady, sir, and PaleDawn." She threw a salute, her back straight as she eyed the male and wolf carefully.

Eye's widened in shock at the announcement of the female apprentice. Eyes gliding over her as she stood there, then dancing behind her to catch sight of a rather feminine purple wolf. A Female! Domonique screamed in his head, this was going to turn out rather poorly especially if she insisted on being as decorated as a chirstmas tree. Clearing his throat as to not appear to out of place she clicked the pen in his hand. "I see, well at least your on time apprentice Brady." Looking up at Glazedpaw he swallowed, "Glazed will you kindly teach Paledawn the importance of time." He could feel the chuckle bounce about in his head as he glared up at the wolf then towards the small pup.
Laughing at her riders obvious discomfort at having to patron a rather attractive female, Glazed slowly pulled herself off the ground walking towards the small female. Letting out a bark of reassurance to hurry she then nudged the little one with her nose in a fashion to speed things up. She loved having the adolescent pups around, it made her feel connected with the simple wolf again, one that wasn't trained with the human mind. One who could not yet speak and think the way a human did. Noting the bone in Paledawns mouth Glazed quickly thought up a simple game to test if the pup had already developed any skills and if not, which ones would be her strong points.
"Apprentice Brady you may relax." Making a few marks on the paper he then handed the clip board and the pen to the young lady. "Before we get anywhere these are the forms you must complete and fill out. Once this is over we will assign you to your living quarters. Glazed will be taking care of Pale until these tasks are accomplished." Looking over at his wolf Domonique noted the movements she was making to start a simple game, whatever happened to teaching the importance of TIME!
Nudging Paledawn once again, the old wolf took the other side of the bone into her mouth and gently pulled a little, testing to see how the small girl would react to this. Ears pulled carefully to the side and her tail waving behind her, she just might enjoy having her around after all, and maybe just maybe show Domonique how wrong he is yet about them.

Keeva noticed a weird...well, vibe when she saw her Patron. He looked uneasy. Still, this is who she was assigned to, and that was that. "Thank you, sir," she answered, as a smile tugged on her red lips. Teach her wolf about time, huh? Finally!
Being nudged while having a delicious bone in her mouth did not bode well with PaleDawn. She eyed the larger, older wolf with dislike, but since her mouth was perhaps too full, she couldn't let out an annoyed bark. So, letting the wolf push her forward, Dawn tried her best to stay balanced.
"Yes. Thank you, sir." Releasing her salute, as well as the tension in her shoulders, Keeva took the board. Inwardly groaning, she scanned the papers. Why, oh why, did everything involve paperwork! Giving her Patron a sweet smile, she said, "I hope your wolf is as nurturing as she is beautiful. PaleDawn is full of curiosity, and trouble isn't shy to her at all." That said, Keeva flopped down abruptly and began to work on those papers. Now, what did this word mean?....
Yipping wildly at the other wolf's tugging, PaleDawn instantly tugged back. Mine! she shouted, growling slightly as the bone began to fall from her jaws. Mine! Mine! The bone dropped from her mouth, sending her tumbling back on her tail. She looked up with pale pink eyes full of sorrow. Mine...

Rather amused that the small pup had already learned the word 'mine' she bowed her head down, bone still in her mouth. She wasn't just going to hand the bone over without the little one working for it, after all once out of the cave the pampering ended. Her tail tail still flicking back and forth she teased the pup with the bone, she was going to test Paledawn's agility and reflexes. Giving a silent bark she jumped back eye's gleaming with playfulness. Even so she might just be a fast learner, hunting would be the first thing she would have to teach her.
Domonique raised his eyebrow in confusion, why sit on the ground? Was it not wet from the snow? Or had he been to stuffed up in his room reading books to notice? Pressing his thumb and forefinger into the bridge of his nose and corner of his eyes, he glanced up at the sun. Mid-day alright, not quite warm enough to be considered warm, but at least there was no wind. Waiting for Keeva to finish with the papers he found his mind wandering to the upcoming competition between his fort, and White Shadow. It had been rumored that patrons wolves would be carrying both their rider and their apprentice. Glancing over the female once again he wished, that A, she was light, and B, it was only a rumor.

Miiiiiine! Thrusting herself forward, Dawn pounced towards the bone, nipping the corner in her mouth. She struggled for a moment, her orange nose smelling the juicy scents of her treat, before losing her grip again. This time, she steadied herself before she was sent nose over tail, and immediately got back into the game. Jumping closer to the big wolf, Dawn got a larger amount of the bone in her mouth before pulling back. She let out a soft growl.
Stopping her writing, Keeva looked over at her wolf. Dawn hadn't called to her, and there was no growling coming from...what was his wolf's name? Oh, right, Glazedpaw. So really, there were no concerns to her. She went back to filling out the forms, dotting some i's, and crossing some t's. She was soon finished, even if she wasn't sure she spelt everything correctly. Shrugging, she stood up, the back of her pants just a bit wet. Handing the papers back to Domonique, she saluted playfully. "All done, sir!"

Keeping eyes on the rather playful female he reached out to take the clipboard from her. Looking down and flipping through some pages he pretended not to have noticed her salute. "Alright, mhm ok this isn't to bad. mmm." Turning to the right he started walking while keeping a watch on the paper, listening for the footsteps of his apprentice which didn't seem to follow. "Come with me, apprentice Brady. Time to suit you with your living area." Mentally thanking Glazed as he continued to walk further into the fort, for keeping the smaller wolf busy.
Glazed was impressed by the pups daring for the bone, watching her movements carefully. Listening to the growl, she tugged at the bone again. figuring if she managed to keep hold this would be a great way to build the strength in the little one after all. Glancing back at Domonique and Keeva as they walked off she smiled. This was going to be an interesting challenge for Domonique, and she couldn't help figure how he would take it. Giving another tug at the bone she turned her full attention back onto the pup she would be watching for the next nine months.

"Er...yes, sir," Keeva answered, some confusion written on her face. She took a few large steps after her Patron, but stopped to glance back at her wolf. She...was going to leave Dawn all alone? A chill went up her spine; Dawn could be annoying, yes, but really, they hadn't been separated since they first bonded, and Keeva wasn't sure what the little pup would do if she found her missing. Hurrying to catch up with Domonique, she cleared her throat. "Excuse me, sir? Shouldn't...shouldn't Dawn be coming with us? I mean, will she be alright on her own?"
Keeva needn't have been worried however, as PaleDawn had forgotten all about her rider to focus on this big, bone-stealing wolf. Growls were emitting from the young pup's throat as she tugged has hard as she possibly could on her special treat. Mineminemine! she cried, desperately throwing her body back.

Stopping to look back at his apprentice Domonique mearly shook his head. "Your small pup will not be alone, she is with Glazedpaw." Chancing a glance at the small wolf he continued. "And from the looks of it, she is a little to distracted by that rather dirty bone. No worries when we come back to get her we will make sure to bring her a better one as a reward." Turning his head to continue walking his braid swinging from side to side as he walked. Tucking the clipboard under his arm as he walked trying to clear his mind, he rounded one corner after another only briefly checking the clipboard. "Ah here we are."
Pulling out a rather loud set of keys, Domonique sifted through them and extracted a small silver one to which he carried up to the front door. "Apprentice Brady this is your home." He pulled open the doors and entered pointing to a door on the opposite side. "There is a den through that door for your small pup. Have a look around if you wish, and here is your key." Domonique wasn't one for conversations especially since he had been assigned a female apprentice. He was sure he had signed up for a male. Pulling his braid up over his shoulder he reached down into the small bag he had been carrying with him. "This is and extra uniform."
Lifting the bone in the air just before Paledawn was able to catch it, Glazed smirked and ran into the treeline a little ways. Just enough to goad the rather purple wolf into following her, a game of tag would be best for her first day here. Placing the bone on the ground she barked playfully, and picked up the bone once again. Taking yet another step back from Paledawn.

"Oh. Right." Taking another peek at her wolf, she silently agreed. That bone was getting all of Dawn's attention; she could sneak off without even being noticed. Somehow, that almost upset her; would Dawn never care if she decided to leave? Sighing inwardly, Keeva trailed after her Patron.
Arriving at the barrack, Keeva entered curiously. A room all to herself! She nearly squealed with happiness. She drew her hand over the bed, the dresser, and the small table. Fleeting a quick glance at Domonique, she moved to the door of the den and looked inside. Perfect for Dawn. Close, but not too close.
Returning to her Patron, Keeva accepted the keys and bag. "Thank you, sir," she said, a genuine smile of thanks on her lips. She pocketed the keys, and threw the bag on her bed. "Is that it, sir?"
Growling possessively, PaleDawn chased after Glazedpaw. Miiiiine! she whimpered, shaking her rump in a slightly agitated movement. She watched the bone fall to the ground. Darting forward, hoping to snag it back, she was broken hearted to see the other wolf snatch it up before her. Frustrated, Dawn let out a quick, quiet howl.

"Now we shall grab a treat for your little one. This way." Leaving the place with little thought he continued down the street. The houses drawing closer together around them till they came across a large clearing with several rather large buildings. "That there is the cook house, follow me." Wandering inside he motioned a slow hello to another private before closing in on a smaller rather aged male. "I need a rather large bone today Frank."
The small man gave Domonique a rather odd look. "Don't you have better things to be doing right now Dom." The man tapped his foot impatiently looking up at the tall patron a moment before rolling his eyes and pointing to the clipboard. "Or let me guess you already scared your small apprentice off haven't you." Laughing quietly he dissipated into the back behind several lines of plastic.
Opening and closing his mouth to retort to the small man, "I haven't don't anything wrong you speckle haired nit-pick." Clenching his fists rather irritated he waited for the man to emerge again barring a fair sized bone for paledawn.
"Doesn't she hate these." The man continued, finally taking notice of Keeva. "Well hello your rather new to the fort aren't you-"
"Thank you." Before Keeva could respond Domonique had snatched up the bone thrust it at his apprentice and started back out the door "Hurry we have much to do today." Laughter following his wake but it didn't faze him, the old man knew to much about him and seemed to enjoy teasing him about his rather odd points.
~*~
Glazed watched the small pup with curiosity still marveled at how insistent she was on the bone, however searching Domonique's mind she had already discovered an even better one was on its way for the small girl. Teasing her with the bone some more she barked once again taking large strides through the fort towards their riders. Maybe at this point Paledawn would realize that her companion wasn't there.

Keeva followed Domonique without question, curious, but unwilling to drop a package of questions on a superior. She noted the way he seemed to be teased by the old man, but figured it was in a friendly way, as the man didn't seem too harmful to her. Mentally shrugging away her questions, she followed him out the door, holding the bone at her side. Damn, PaleDawn was going to be happy with that thing!
Barking madly at what she thought was the older wolf's attempt to run away and steal the bone from her, PaleDawn shot off after Glazedpaw. She skidded to a halt a few strides away. Waitaminute...where was Keeva, and why hadn't she come to help her yet? Keeva was always there to push the tree branch down so Dawn could get the best stick, or to cup her hands so Dawn could drink water from a faucet. So, why wasn't she here helping her get her bone back? Looking around, Dawn realized that Keeva wasn't ANYWHERE. Moisture filled the pup's eyes. She sat down hard and threw her head back, howling mournfully. Keeeeeeee!! she sobbed, Keeeeeeee!!
The sound pierced her like a knife. She groaned, throwing her hands over her ears in an attempt to stop the noise. However, the crescendo was coming from her own head -there was nothing she could do. Stifling a whimper, Keeva looked up at Domonique, her eyes filled with pain. "It's Dawn," she whispered, "She needs me." Without a further explanation, Keeva took off in a panicked run towards her wolf.

Domonique stood there dumbfounded as Keeva ran off, sighing at the determination of his apprentice. True most wolfriders put their wolf before anything, however he was different. When he had first arrived at the fort he felt almost outcasted. He was afraid of his own companion. Afraid of Glazedpaw, it wasn't until just recently that he grew to understand the feeling the riders had for their wolves.
Hiding the dirty bone from the small wolfes eye's Glazed nuzzled down and licked the side of Paledawn's face. Nudging her lightly, of course she was young but if she had given in and let her have the bone it would only lead to a spoiled wolf who wouldn't fair well in the battlefield. Besides, she licked the pup again. Her rider was coming with an even better treat for her, not that she was jelious she hated the meat from inside the fort. It was far to old and not juicy enough for her liking. And soon the pup would develop the same habits once she was able to hunt. "First lesson I'm going to teach you is hunting little one."
Glazedpaw was one to avoid talking as it seemed to distract them from the true nature of the wolves but sometimes it just couldn't be helped after connecting with the mind of a human. lowering herself to the ground she crossed her paws and placed her head on them ears perked forward as Keeva approached.

PaleDawn felt the older wolf’s muzzle against her, but that wasn’t what she wanted: she wanted Keeva. She wanted the girl that took her from her boring cave into the great, wonderful world. She wanted the girl that made sure she was fed, made sure she was warm, made sure she was happy. But that girl wasn’t there now. PaleDawn had never felt so alone.
After nearly tripping on a bench in her fevered rush to her wolf, Keeva Brady skidded to a halt near the two wolves. Panting crazily from her run, the apprentice almost dive-bombed Dawn, pulling the wolf close to her body and cooing sweet words into the shaking pup’s ears. She held her tight, stroking her purple furred body, rubbing her light orange muzzle, kissing the top of her purple-patterned head. “Shhhuuu, it’s alright! I’m here now, I’m here...,” Keeva kept repeating, snuggling with her wolf. “It’s alright....”
Keeva...g...gone, the young canine whimpered, thrusting her head into Keeva’s large chest. She wiggled her nose into Keeva as far as the girl’s body would allow. Slowly, the wolf began to relax. The shaking stopped, and the whimpering faded. Still, she nuzzled deep into her rider. Being alone wasn’t fun.

Domonique watched with little interest at the moment playing before him. Glancing over at Glazed with a raised eyebrow, who, only pulled her ears back before rising and trotting over to him with a tired look registering on her face a large yawn breaking through. "Maybe this should be enough for today, tomorrow your real training will start, in separate places Pale will be working with Glazed on movement and formation patters, ill be teaching you basics on riding a wolf." Glazed nudged him slightly pulling his attention to her and nodding he watched her trot off into the treeline. "Sorry guess I was wrong, looks like glazed is going to teach her how to hunt first." With that said he turned to leave for his barrack.
Was best to let the girl wander and get to know the fort a little, besides if he didn't he would assume a bad rep as being no better than the sergeant back at the academy. That was something he didn't want, not that it really bothered him if it did turn out to be the same. But he was hungry and it was time for dinner, he had shown her the major points of the fort except the battle ground and training grounds, but that could wait till tomorrow anyway.
