FOR STATS: Gaspard & Dia de la Esperanza

It was curious, but though he'd only spent a few days with Dia and those far between, he found himself thinking of her when she was absent. More than that, he often mused on topics that he thought would interest her, and found himself wondering how she would respond to thoughts that tended to circle his mind. Her matter-of-fact, frank way of analyzing the world and interpreting it appealed to him, and though he was certainly more than capable of making his own judgment calls on any aspect of his life, he found that he appreciated her insight. He hadn't expected to find a valuable friends in the Kawani lands, as he had rarely been so lucky in the other areas he traveled, but he was beginning to realize that Dia was a very unique presence in his life.

He certainly appreciated her, and not just for her counsel. Rarer than the notion that he would solicit the perspective of another on his own matters, he simply enjoyed speaking to her, whether it be a heavy topic or the casual discussion of which watering holes provided the best swimming. They had common ground, and it hadn't been a terribly traumatic experience to find it.

The combination of those two things were likely what led his hooves to where he assumed she'd be, despite the fact that he had heavy things on his mind. Generally, Gaspard preferred to sort through his own problems, allowing only his father or sister to assist in sorting out the more complicated scenarios in his life. While that was still largely true, and he had come to a general sort of conclusion about what to do in his present predicament, he still found himself wondering what Dia would think of the whole situation.

Of course, she didn't know his sister as he did. While it seemed very abrupt to Gaspard, from the outside, it wouldn't be nearly as surprising that Corine had found friends and a human to settle with. She hadn't been inspired to travel nearly as soon as he had, and in the back of his mind, he had always wondered if she would be one for roaming the countryside for long. It seemed not, if her present inclination to remain in Kawani lands held true. The question at hand was, would he?

Was he ready to settle? Though he often gave the impression of being much older than he was, Gaspard was still relatively young for a stallion. True, he was well-traveled and had always possessed a certain level of maturity that belied his age, but he did have a great deal of his life ahead of him. Could he be content in ceasing his travels, making a home in this place?

He could live without his sister, certainly. He'd done it before, and while the days would become a bit lonely, he would find other means to occupy himself. There was, and likely always would be, a great deal of the world that he had not seen. While there was excitement in that along with the prospect of a life of continual learning, it was true that there were other things to be discovered in a place called home. A different kind of excitement; stability, family, continuity. He would like to settle one day, and who was to say that day wouldn't be sooner rather than later?

Sighing, he closed his eyes a moment, forcing the troubling thoughts to the back of his mind. He could run over the same thoughts and reasons time and again, and eventually, he would come to a decision. He always did. Somehow, in this situation, he thought that time would be the deciding factor - as well as whether or not he found something compelling enough to lure him to stay.

As he crossed over a fallen log, he spotted a familiar coat in the near distance. She couldn't have been expecting him, but it pleased him nonetheless that his instinct had been correct about where to find Dia.

He disliked shouting, and so instead waited until he was within speaking distance to greet her. "Good afternoon, Dia."
