Yeah, I had a quick question, and thought I'd put it here...
On breaking your hymen before sex, is it a good idea? I don't know if I still have mine, but I think I'd be aware if I broke it. But, yeah, anyways, I'm really scared about having it be painful the first time I have sex - should I go ahead and break it through masturbation one day, or try atleast? Should I go to my gynocologist and ask her to?
Just the thought of something tearing down below freaks me out. crying

You could go see your gyno and ask if you still have it in the first place. And sex for the first time for a girl is not always painful, even if she does/doesn't have her hymen. I mean, I didn't know my hymen was at the vaginal entrance until someone pointed it out. I'd always thought I'd broken it with a yeast infection applicator. redface So I'm not really one to comment on breaking a hymen.
I think talking to a doctor/gyno might be best. smile Well, as a starting point anyways.

Well I'm pretty sure I broke mine with a tampon. Sex wasn't painful at all the first time and I think that's why but a doctor is a good plan or just try to feel around yourself and see what hurts and what doesn't.

Well, on another forum similar to this (i've been on the other one for years, but Its gotten kind of dumpy lately. Its got lots of doctors, but they're not there anymore) they said you could actually see your friggin hymen if you just took a mirror. I dunno, but is that really possible?
But, like, really. Wouldn't you know if you broke it?

Nikolita Check out the Sex Education 101 sticky, that's what it's there for. 3nodding This link is from that sticky, and apparently in the picture (warning: mature content!) you can see the hymen. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/Nikolita/hymen1.jpg Ohhh... Thanks. I always thought it was on top.
So, in truth, you can see it without going to a gynocologist and asking? hmm...

I guess theoretically you can, though I've never tried looking myself.

Mine never broke. I've been sexually active for abour five years and it's still there.
Every woman is different. Some hurt the first time during sex, some don't. Some bleed, some don't.
Hymans are meant to break. Don't worry if you break it before sex. It doesn't matter. Of all the things you could be freaked out about regarding genitals, this isn't something to spend much time thinking about smile

Nikolita posted something about that. Or you can ask your gynecologist. But really, it doesn't matter too much.

There are non-latex ones avaliable that you can look for next time.
