So, you're out of high school now (or have been for a while now), or maybe you're busy submitting applications to colleges right now.

So, what classes are you taking, or are planning to take? If you're already in college, tell us what it's like for you! What's your major, or what are you studying for if you don't have one? Heck, just general college information would be welcome! That's what this is here for.

Myself? I'm currently in my second semester of college, and my second semester at Rock Valley College, which is a community college in Rockford, Illinois (for those of you who haven't heard the correct pronunciation before, the "s" is silent; it's a peeve of most Illinoisans that I've ever met, myself included). Because this is a community college, dorms are non-existent, so most of the communication with fellow students is in classes and around the campus during school hours instead of frat houses and dorms of four-year colleges.

Currently, I'm taking Introduction to Computers- one of two prerequisite courses for Computer Repair- and it's surprised me by actually filling in a few gaps that I didn't know before. I'm also in the process of taking Trigonometry, not for any major, but because I decided last semester that I wanted to make sure that I knew my math, so I started with College Algebra.

Yes, you read that right. I'm taking math for no other reason than because I want to. There's no major attached to that, no stipulations involved. I was actually thinking about that last week over my spring break and "connected the dots," so to speak, today during class. I'm taking math because I'm good at it, it comes easily to me, and I want to. This brought me to the decision that, if I'm taking math before I enjoy it so much, why shouldn't I take it for my major? So, sometime in the near future, I'm going to be going in to find out everything that I'm going to need to take to get the major and, hopefully starting next semester, get underway to actually getting it.

I'm currently a third of the way through my first semester at Auckland University here in New Zealand. I'm doing a Bachelor of Arts double-majoring in History and Art History. I'm also taking Ancient History, and Ethnomusicology in my first year. Next year, it will narrow down to just History, Art History, and Ancient History I believe...

Damn ._.
I wish I had it all planned out like you, Krissi.
I just want to get the basic classes out of the way at a community college,
then go to a Uni. for more specific classes. Problem is. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do ._.
This blows.

I've had my specific plan in place for about two and a half years now:
Three/three-and-a-half years at university for my BA, and then a year at Teacher-Training college, and then Hey Presto! Krissle is a secondary level Art History teacher. ^^

I guess that's my problem.
I never really strived to achieve much other than to just pass high school.
I'm sure I had the potential to be something better, but.. I wasted it ^^;
Oh well. My own fault.
I think I shall get into photography, or Art class.
Though if Chemistry or Psychology is available.. I might try that ^^....

._. 3 more months and I'm out of high school..
Then what?
Congrats to you btw.

And I passed my last two years of highschool literally by the skin of my teeth. We needed 80 points to pass, and in Year 12 (11th Grade?) I got 82, and in Year 13 (Twelfth Grade?) I got 84. Compare that with Year 11, where I got 125 points. I went MAJORLY downhill. You still have that potential, the secret to keeping it is to keep telling yourself that you can do it. Seriously, never lose faith in yourself.
I sound like a self-help wannabe, but it's honestly the only way I got through my last two years of highschool.

Congrats to you, Krissi! Now that I finally have direction in the studies that I want to do, I think I can finally focus myself to take care of things like I've been wanting to. It's going to take me a while, but... It's going to be worth the effort, I know.

I know how you feel, Kira, believe me. I coasted through high school because I didn't really care much about what was going on then. I barely got out of high school- I think I graduated with 26 credits and a 2.7-ish GPA- and had no real direction for what I wanted to do in college. I had an idea, but nothing that I could really set myself on.

Don't be afraid to not pick a major when you get into college; there's a "Undecided" option for a reason. Now, while I'm not going to say that this will be the right thing for you to do, especially since I don't know what your situation is in regards to college and how it's going to be funded (let alone stipulations), but I took a couple of years away from school before I entered into college, and I'm glad I did. I don't think that I would have made it through my first year if I had gone straight from high school to college.

The first couple of years of college are pretty much there to "get your feet in the water" to see what you like if you don't already know where you want to go. I surprised myself by figuring out that I wanted to major in Mathematics so quickly, but I'm not going to complain. In any case, though, I do hope you end your high school "career" as well as possible and that you make the decision that's right for you for college.

Go to a community college and get some gen eds out of the way. You'll have to take them anyway, so take them cheaply.

I have no clue what I am going to study next year. I want to take Japanese, an art class of sorts, music and writing. but I dont know how that will work with all the 1st year requirements.

Is this your first year of college? Well you can probably take them, but I don't really see it working into any particular major.

All classes are compulsory classes. I just transferred from Interactive design to Allround desktop publishing (DTP) because of difficulties keeping up... and damn from actual college I dropped to something worse than high school. Wednesday we had a test for maths... there were 4 ******** people who DID shut their mouth. The rest was yapping and using their phones as calculators. I never saw anything like that. I already have difficulties with concentrating, with so much noise I can't at all. I had to write over several answers from the girl next to me(she suggested it herself and was one of the quiet persons) to even come close to finishing it. I just hope I got a high enough grade. Most the retards weren't even able to figure out the simple fractures we had to do.

Anyway about my classes they're all compulsory and I have to follow dutch, english, maths, civics(which have little to do with DTP and I didn't have to do at all in Interactive Design) and then the rest of the day is actually focused on DTP.

Personally, I'd probably go with Psychology simply because I want to learn more about how to better understand and read people just by watching them.

I do plan on eventually learning- or in this case, re-learning- German and possibly throwing in a couple of other languages as well, but I'm not entirely sure just yet.

I'm currently researching going back to school for Landscape Architecture. I'm pondering whether I should go back and get a general degree for a bachelors and seek a Masters in Landscape Architecture, or to go for the bachelors in Landscape Architecture. I already have an Associates in Fine Art so I pretty much have two years out of the way, and enough math, science, and English Lit to choke a horse. Most bachelors programs are 5 year programs, and the masters programs are 3 years. So I'd more or less spend the same amount of time in school, just one I'd have a masters and the other I'd have a bachelors.
