Some days had been long and drawn-out while others seem to end in a blink of an eye, yet the days since that night were some of the happiest Mya has ever been through. The clearing, once calm and quiet, now bustled with activity as six bright, little children tumbled and played among the leaves and brush and learned about the world through their own means or by the teachings of their mother and father. Even more so, new faces had shown up within days of the hatchlings arrival into the world.

As Mya worked on crushing some seeds by the cave drop, she would pause every now and then to smile at the tumbling of her little ones before returning to her chores. By the tree Rowen and Rajani had claimed as their own, Mimi as well has two new faces had take roost. Perched close to Rowen was a Mimicgryph who was happily nibbling on a cherry stolen from the food storage while below a large Coyote lounged in the sunlight. He, too, would occasionally glance up to watch the hatchlings play.

Indeed this day had started off quite nicely.

His world had been turned on its head for the third time in his life and Valentine was left pleasantly reeling from it. The first time when he was but a teen and got a real taste of the harshness of war. The second was when he met Mya and knew practically from the moment that they first met that she was the one he would spend the rest of his life with. The most recent turn was the arrival of their six healthy, vivacious hatchlings. Each of them shone with their growing unique personalities. Shortly after the arrival of their babies a handful of familiars arrived and bonded with a few of their kids.

Valentine was working outside, maintaining their storage places to sort out if any foods had gone bad or if they were low on anything. The scarred male paused frequently to gaze with fatherly pride at the playful little ones that played in the clearing. Every so often he would sneak over and play with them, or lay down and let them climb on him if they so chose to.

Over at the tree that seemed to be claimed by the family's familiars, Rajani lay curled up in the hollow nook in the roots of the tree, in her dog form. Mostly these days the chupacabra remained in her canid, goat, or wisp forms, normally waiting until all of the youngsters were asleep before shifting to her natural form. Hanun was pattering about playing with the babies, chattering cheerily to them, and offering plenty of hugs and affection if one seemed to be left out or if one went off on their own. On the same branch as Rowen, a new raven sat preening her dark feathers. On a lower branch, another Mimicgryph had set itself to weaving a nest for itself and many other of its kind that may wish to sleep in a communal nest. A pair of trained mice sat a little ways from the tree on a sun bathed stone out of reach of the tumbling, rough housing youngsters.

Yes, there were many, many new faces in the once quiet den of Mya and Valentine. Now it pulsed with new life and it was truly wonderful.

Amongst the six little dragonlings, there was a predominantly green male who would stalk after a sibling before pouncing on them and playfully nibbling on a wing or a tail before tumbling off after another playmate. He was a fiesty, mischievous little fellow whom his parents named Zimran.

A pair of dual toned little eyes scanned over the five other youngsters, looking to see if there was any one who wasn't paying attention that he could sneak up on and surprise them. Or at least be as sneaky as a young dragon could be. The mostly blue and white male sat in sun dappled shady spot before leaping up, stumbling, then crawling after a sibling with a playful grin on his muzzle. His name was Nathan and he definitely had his own way of doing things.

Kneading the mashed mixture of seeds and nuts between her forepaws for a few more moments, Mya carefuly poured the mxture into a small container and grabbed it before climbing out of their den; pausing midway to make sure none of the familiars nor her children were standing below, she jumped and landed with a small "Umph!". Shaking out her scales Mya walked over and placed the container of mixture by the dry foods before giving Valentine a playful but affectionate lick on the jawbone. She had seen him sneak away from his chores to play with the little ones, not that she could blame him...Which is why she never stopped him.

Rowen grumbled and shuffled away from the noisy eater Mimicgryph and the Raven now occupying his branch on the Familiar Tree. Normally, the elder spirit was more than willing to share and socialize but...now, he just felt crowded. And he wasn't happy about it. In the mean time, the female mimicgryph finished her cherry and spat out the core, which dropped and landed on the head of the Coyote. Letting out a short bark of surprise, Atlas was quick to stare up at the offender with a small scowl; Ola, on the other hand, was playing the innocent card. She looking off in a random direction while whistling a tune similar to "Yankee Doodle", avoiding the accusing stare sent at her.

In the tumbling pile of playing children, one seem to stand out a little more than the others. Maybe it was because of her gender? Or maybe it was because she wasn't like young females would? Or maybe it was because of her coloring, a mixture of her mother and father with a blue blaze on her face and paws on a cream base? She was bold and...slightly agressive, play-nipping at each of her five brothers and pouncing on a random one that past infront of her field of vision. Little trills would escape her throat from time to time as she played; she was Anaya, and she was their little warrior-to-be.

Off to the side of the group, another male wrestled with one of his brothers for a moment before tumbling free with a loud squeak. A pair of deep green eyes would watch the others; with white scales different from his parent's cream and green streaks on his body similar in style to his momma's, it seems he had taken after Mya is more ways than one. While he enjoyed playing, the shy lad would often wander over to see what his momma was doing. He was a sweetheart, a caring little Painter and his name was Balint.

Chuu!

Baby Benvolio sneezed, his nose crinkling a little at the foreign sensation. He sat a little off to the side of his siblings, tail curled around his ankles, watching them play with a little smile. Not that he was weak or a coward. He was actually a fairly big baby, and was in no way scared of his siblings. It was just that...he liked to watch them. It made him happy to see them happy. He didn't need to play himself to enjoy their antics. Despite his little mask, the suggestion of thievery in his colors, he was extremely sweet, and mild.

He swished his tail a little, watching the charm on it glitter and sparkle in the light. It was so pretty. How lucky he was to have such a nice family. Or, that's what he would be thinking, were he capable of much thought at this age. Rather, it was a basic fascination with the shiny thing. Which he immediately began to nibble at. But not too hard. Even at such a tender age, he was wary of breaking things. He was afraid to hurt inanimate objects! Possibly a teasing point when he was older, but...for now, it was simply a quirk. And seeing as none of them talked, or commuincated in ways other than chirps, whistles, squeaks and instinctive body language, he was fine at this point.

Finished nibbling the charm, he stood up shakily, his walk more of an awkward baby waddle, and he whined a little, peering about for his mother. He wanted some attention from his favorite person in the whole wide world. His mommy.

Before too long Nathan and Zimran were beginning to feel hungry. After all, they had been playing out in the sun with all of their siblings, or at least those who seemed willing to play with them, and they were growing youngsters. Zimran teetered as he wobbled towards his mother as fast as his little feet could carry him, letting his plight be known but mewling loudly as his belly growled. It wasn't apparent if he held a favorite parent one over another, but his mother was closer in relation to the place in which he was playing.

Nathan liked playing around his father, since he was allowed to climb on him and go crawling through his legs. He too didn't really have a noticeable preference, Valentine was simply closer. The mostly blue boy climbed up onto his dad's back using the larger male's hind leg and tail as places to push up on. He nearly pulled a few mane feathers loose when he grabbed a mouthful of his dad's feathers to pull himself up. Nathan crawled along his dad's back to sprawl out on his shoulders. Their little boy blue buried his face in Valentine's dark feathered mane and began to give soft trilly-growl sounds mimicking the rumbling of his stomach.

Valentine smiled brightly at the lick to the jaw from his mate. "Hey there, gorgeous. How're you feeling today?" When their son, Nathan, took to climbing up his flank, Valentine dipped himself slightly lower to make it easier. He winced slightly at the tug to his mane, but wasn't bothered by it. Looking his form over for any length of time could show that he could take any range physical pain. He chuckled at the nuzzle to his shoulders and the grumbly, growly sounds the child on his back was making. He looked to his mate with a grin. "It looks like a few of our brood are getting peckish."

Rajani enjoyed the fact that a majority of the smaller familiars seemed to give her a wide berth. Well, for the most part. The trained mice kept coming up and peering at her, earning them a swat for their curiosity. She had never been the most social creature and enjoyed things when it was just her and Rowen. Mimi and Hanun didn't count in her book as they weren't capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation. Hanun was still chasing babies, but was beginning to show a degree of fatigue at having been running around with all six of them. The raven finished her preening before taking off to roost somewhere nearby in a more shady and less occupied tree. The little male mimicgryph was still busying himself with weaving an intricate communal nest.

There was never a dull moment.

Like a ripple effect, when one came over with pleadings for food or attention, the rest followed suit. The two other little ones ceased their play and toddled/scampered over to their parents with vocal calls to either parent. Being Daddies little girl, Anaya was quick to make her plight of an empty stomach known to her father; she pawed at his forelegs before toddling around so she sat directly in his line of vision. Plopping down, neon-green eyes stared up into her father's own as demanding squeaks came from her tiny mouth.

Balint, on the other hand, was not as aggressive in his demandings for food or attention. Following after Nathan and Benvolio up to the female, he let out tiny cries of want as deep green eyes gave the mother dragon their best pleading expression. As he moved, the red jewel on the braided strap with glimmer and sparkle in the light in a direct contrast to his green/white colorings.

Mya smiled at her mate but her children stole her attention before she could answer though. Smling at their Nathan and Anaya, Mya nosed her other children close and gave little Benvolio a lick on the head to help ease the whines of want. Turning away from them for a moment, she again smiled at Valentine. "I agree. We should feed them before Nathan decides he would rather try your mane in order to fill his belly." With that, she pulled away from her little ones and, stepping over the tiny bodies, made way towards some rabbits Atlas and Rowen had kindly brought for them from a morning walk. The meat was softer on these creatures and would be easier for the hatchlings with their tender mouths and teeth. With a slight dramatic flair, Mya laid the rabbits out on the ground and used her foreclaw to cut through the hide. Her children would have to learn to hunt for themselves someday, but for now....she would be their aid with food. "Come my children. These creatures are here to fill your empty bellies."

Benvolio chirped at the lick from his mother. His mommy! His dearest and most beloved maternal providing unit! He squeaked and followed after her, watching everything she did. He was always taken by the grace and poise of larger painters. It was frustrating always to him that he had such stubby, short legs, and that he was so clumsy. He was growing fast, but not fast enough! He wanted to be big and strong like Daddy, and help his mommy. Why was he stuck as a little kid?

He squeaked at the promise of food, but hungry as he was, he nibbled delicately, softly, almost as if making sure he wasn't hurting the rabbit. Nevermind the fact that it was deceased. He licked his lips often, and if he ever got any blood on himself, he was sure to stop his eating and give that area of himself as best a bath he could. Benvolio didn't like to be dirty. He ate until he was stuffed, his little belly bulging, he waddled away from the rabbit. He crooned and leaned against his mother's foreleg, giving her a little lick in thanks for the meal, he half closed his eyes. Why was he suddenly so sleepy? Food and running around was just like that, he supposed. He yawned, showing off tiny baby teeth, and blinked a few times, his eyes partially unfocused. A nap was immenent.

Wintour peered curiously with acidic green eyes. The world was so new to him, and his eyes were just starting to focus. The center of his world had been, up until this point, his mother. There was nothing else in his life, though he was dimly aware of other mewling creatures that surrounded him, and something big and paternal.

With his eyes glowing in their eerie way, Wintour rose to his legs. He still wasn't very steady, and his tiny wings were essentially useless. They had a few pinfeathers that itched sometimes. He could use his sharp horns to get rid of the itch, but he worried about dislodging the silver rings placed ever so carefully on them. What did they mean?

He mewled, curious at the sound of his own voice. Oooh, that was strange. And look, there he was! He pounced towards one of his siblings, convinced that it was just him, standing a few feet away. Oomph. That hurt. And now he had run into someone. Realization was slowly beginning to dawn in his mind.
