The bells chimed on day two of the Rain Dances. The overcasting white clouds provided a lovely shade across the entirety of Cyrus City and the clearing in which the dances were taking place. Olivia had finished re-setting up her booth for the event and had wandered off to find a dear friend of her's leaving Ment in charge of the scenery.

A cool breeze swept through the clearing, providing a cool atmosphere for the dancers of the day. It was the youth dances and Ment was both excited and sad to see them. Excited as he was sure he'd see a friend or two taking part, and sad because he would not be joining them. He would be able to remember it greatly though. It seemed as if several journalists from downtown Cyrus were to be there taking notes on the event and pictures for a column. Maybe May would be there, and Tango...Wait...Why would he want Tango there?

Ment shook his head as he pulled out a clear plastic bag from one of the boxes Olivia and him unpacked. Inside was lots and lots of gummi bears. This time Ment would be prepared for the gaggle of children to come, and not be overrun by them all wanting candy at once.

Orpheus had made careful attention to the time, altering his sleep schedule once more to make sure he could be the first (hopefully) person upon the scene. Qadir had declined to attend this day, almost completely unable to stomach the day in the sun once more. Perhaps the third day, or if Orpheus contacted him, would he make an entrance.

The boy was feeling, well, quite pleased with himself. Though for a bit of time he'd found himself vertically challenged as compared to his friends, he was glad he had finally caught up. Hands stuffed into his pockets, looking like he'd just stepped out of a magazine, Orpheus strolled up to Ment and peered at the gummi bears he was placing out. Attempting to avoid commenting on the other's...strange taste in clothing, the vamp nodded at the bears. "What magic do they create?"

Moanna sat a far ways off, on a simple wooden stool, the trail of her skirt gathering around the bottom, though not touching the ground as if it were suspended in air. The youth were starting their dances and it was only a matter of time before the adults, before she, could dance also. She was so anxious for the opportunity she almost floated off her seat.

Ment looked up as Orpheus questioned the magical properties of gummi bears. He couldn't help but smile and giggle a tad. It was really an odd question. Perhaps he had never seen gummi bears before. Maybe he was sheltered, like the little boy down the street who screams everytime someone tries to talk to him. Nah. He seemed alright.

"They're gummi bears. They're just candy," He stated, picking up the bowl and offering some to Orpheus, "Though if you really want a magical property to them they can offer you a short lived sugar high. That's kinda magical, right?"

Orpheus took notice of Moanna, of course, but he was feeling slightly anti-social in her direction, and so he kept his attentions on the one with the less than magical bears. "Why would you eat them, if they aren't magical?" he asked curiously, picking one one up to peer at it between his fingers.

The concept of eating was difficult enough, when all he ever ate was a pill every day (to his personal distaste and to Qadir's insistance), but he could eat, when he was required to. Eating for pleasure, especially managing to eat something that was staring at you, completely escaped the teen.

"Because they taste good," Ment commented, picking up one of the orange ones and popping it into his mouth, "Why don't you try one? Almost everybody likes candy. Except that clean-kid from yesterday. He kept commenting on how it's unclean or something."

Ment picked up a few more gummi bears and popped them into his mouth. Thank goodness he remembered to buy two bags in the off chance (or moreso the highly likely chance) he would eat them all.

Tango ran his fingers through his hair for the umpteenth time. Letting out a wide-mouthed yawn, he returned his hands to his pockets, slouching just a bit. He hadn't wanted to come but May's co-worker, who had originally been assigned the festivities, had decided to suddenly come down with some disease or other, and now his mother was given the task of reporting the 'party'. Naturally, she thought it was imperative to drag him along.

May for her part wandered around with no particular aim. Her handy dandy notebook opened, pen poised for notes. Where to first?"

"Home?"

"You're not helping."

"Funny, I was thinking the same thing."

May glared at her companion for a moment before sighing heavily. Ment was right. He probably got a rock stuck in him as a scent.

With festivals came injuries, and with injuries inevitably came doctors and hospitals. Therefore, just his luck! Carwyn was stuck with both Phoenix and Celyn today. After being attacked by a washcloth by Phoenix for showing up in a rush--therefore being sweaty--he then had to drag both to the festival while listening to them argue about the value of sweets.

Why couldn't these two agree to disagree for once? Better yet, why did the gods hate him so? Carwyn glared up at the sky before continuing along. Admittedly, everything they were saying was beginning to feel like shouting to him, even though both children were actually rather calmly reasoning this...

"Sweets are bad because they're unhealthy! Do you know why people get fat?!"

"People don't get fat because of sweets! Sweets are a good thing! Plus, there's some sweets that are healthy! I've heard dark chocolate actually is good for you!"

"That's what the media wants you to think! In reality, it's mega poison!"

"Bah! If it was poison, I would have, uhh." Celyn paused. "Dad," that brought Carwyn back to the quieter reality, "what's poison?"

Carwyn sighed. Thank stars they were at the festival. Maybe he could find someone to pawn these two off to and he could go do something a bit more relaxing. Maybe they had someone who was offering free massages. Those sounded good. Some free food would be nice, too. The starving jazz musician liked anything that was free.

Moanna looked up as two little children passed her way. Their arguments cutting into her dreamy head and bringing her crashing back down to earth.

Sweets are bad because they're unhealthy! Do you know why people get fat?!

"People get fat because they overindulge," Moanna stated flatly. Her head tilted to the side casually as she looked over Carwyn and than towards the children. They were not his, at least not biologically. They must be the children her mother spoke of.

"Would you like some dried cranberries? They taste sweet like candy, but are good for you."

With the pair meandering around the grounds it was inevitable that he'd eventually spot him. May had stopped at a nearby booth and struck up instant conversation with the woman running it. He had quickly grown bored of eavesdropping on conversation and tore his gaze away. That's when he spotted him. He looked different, that was for sure, but it was completely undeniable that it was the same boy that had tried to give him SBS last time they met. ...And the b*****d had grown!

Apparently somewhere along the lines he had missed the 'everyone suddenly and randomly grow older' Memo.

First Adrian, then Polly, and now...him. That skirt wearing---

...And now that he thought of it, he seemed to have also missed the dress like a Queen' memo.

Well, that was one memo he wouldn't make an effort to find. He quiet enjoyed his pants, thank you very much.

"What are you looking at, Tango?"

Oh, No! Play it cool and maybe she wont drag us ov-

"Is that that peppermint child? Oh, lets go say hi! Hello? Hi, Minty! Menty! Pepper~"
She called as she dragged her son by the wrist, waving as she went.

Ment looked away from Orpheus for a moment as he heard his name being called. Did someone just call him minty? Well, I guess it was sort of right. He did smell good like Peppermint, so Minty was appropriate in a way. Spooting May after awhile of searching he smiled...That was until he saw Tango.

Instantly the Scent gave a frown of dissaproval but remained polite for May's sake, "Hi May!"
PostPosted: Fri Mar 20, 2009 7:08 pm

"Hi~" May chirped, only to pick up more speed to reach the teen's- Wait, since when?- side, waving with her free hand. For Tango's part, he struggled to keep up with May's longer strides while maintaining his balance. It would be mortifying beyond belief to fall on his face, or even stumble the slightest, in front of Ment.

When she was close enough to talk to the boys, she slammed on the breaks, rather abruptly before grinning and elbowing Tango harshly in the side as he came to a skidding stop himself. "Say hi." She hissed under her breath, and he managed a glare before turning to the older boys in front of him.

He couldn't help his natural reaction to the adolescences' presence. Even though he'd known Ment as a child, he was no longer such and- well Tango still was. An unsettling feeling stirred in the pit of his stomach as he looked from the stripped boy to the other teenager. He felt much younger in comparison to them then he probably was- and despite the fact one of them wore a skirt- he was terribly intimidated.

At least the other kid, who from the smell of him was also a scent, had cool hair. He could appreciate that.

"..Uh..."
Did he just stutter? Tango never stutters! "...Hi?" Well, dignity be screwed, apparently.

And one of them wasn't even his! Carwyn looked amazed when he heard someone else speaking to the children, his eyes shining with gratitude he couldn't express. Maybe this woman could get them to stop arguing about these silly things. At least, they weren't arguing into his ears anymore.

"'cause they overeluge?" Phoenix failed at pronouncing the word correctly, but xe seemed to understand what she was saying. The medicinal child tilted xir head. "New Ma said I'd get fat if I ate candy and candy is sticky so it's bad, so I don't see what overeluging is the reason why people are fat. It's always bad! Celyn needs to learn that."

Little Celyn pouted at Phoenix. The little churro boy didn't think he was fat... or at least, he didn't think he was fat. Suddenly concerned about something he never cared about before, Celyn began to inspect himself.

Carwyn sighed. "Celyn, you look fine. Don't listen to Phoenix."

"You sure Dad? --Oh wait, cranberries?!" Celyn suddenly forgot about body image issues and instead turned to the woman excitedly. "If Phoenix won't take them," the child chirped, "I certainly will."

Phoenix rubbed xir chin as if xe had some kind of fake beard. "Well, are dried cranberries sticky like sweets are? 'cause if they are, I don't want any 'cause stickiness is disgusting."

"Your new Ma only says that so you won't eat a lot of them. Candy is good in moderation," Moanna commented, turning on her stool and grabbing the bowl of dried cranberries from the stand behind her.

She offered the bowl down to Celyn, and glanced at Carwyn and smiled, though not as awkwardly as she normally did.

"Have you ever had raisins before?" She questioned Phoenix, "Dried cranberries are just like raisins."

"I'm impressed you managed to teach him manners, May." Ment commented, displaying his own beautifully learned manners by shoving a fistful of gummi bears into his face and not offering any to Tango.

"So whatcha doin' here May? 'Livia is off somewhere else if you wanted to talk to her," He stated, reminding himself there was another Scent present and hap-hazardly motioned to Orpheus.

"I actually don't know this guys name, but he's definently a Scent, and I definently remember him because he definently smells like Lilies," Ment bantered, leaning towards Orpheus.

He tilted his head to the side for a moment and muttered,"And Pomegranate too....HEY, YOU KNOW KAORU!"
