Ok so i finally got a story started to post here. Next up: My horror story i'm restarting.
One to remember.
Ah what a beautiful day. Thought Mattias. It was the last day of the towns famous fall festival. People from all-over the state, And some from other countries, came to participate in all of the fun games and tournaments that were held. But today was the end of it all... Well not exactly. There was still the grand parade. After all every festival had to end with a parade, right? In fact that is just what Mattias was getting ready for. He was trying to find the perfect spot to view the closing parade. Of course he had been planning for this all week and he had just found the perfect spot. At the end of Main street there was an old three story building that used to be a hardware store with some apartments on the third floor. The shop closed two weeks ago and no one lived in the apartments now so it would give him the perfect view of the parade.
Mattias picked up his guitar case and went into the alley next to the building. He sneaked through a opening in a old wooden fence that stood there. On the other side of the fence was where the fire escape ladder was. The doors to get inside had been locked since the shop closed so it was the only way in. Mattias broke a window on the third floor and let himself in.
damn cut myself there. Better be more careful. Mattias wrapped his hand in a cloth that started to soak the blood. Suddenly he could hear some popping sounds coming from outside. Mattias could tell they were made far from the town. But something told him that maybe the parade would be cut short. It didn't matter to him though. Main street was the only spot that people watched the parade at anyway so it had to go down main street.
About half an hour later the popping sounds were getting louder. But they were still far away, Mattias new that for sure. Hundreds of people were gathering from everywhere to watch the parade. However not to many people from out of town had arrived yet. Mattias thought it would be about time that he got set up too. He opened up some of the windows looking over the street. He wanted top make sure that he had all the elements known. The sights, the smells, how the wind was still, everything. After all it was probably going to be one to remeber parade yet. At least that's what was being said around town. After another half hour the popping sounds stopped. That and almost all of the people had arrived. It was about time the parade began so Mattias got ready. He stood the guitar case next to him and unzipped it. But then stopped and decided he'd wait until the parade came through before he took anything out of it. But he didn't have to wait too long. Because just as he stopped he heard people begin to cheer in the streets. The parade had begun.
It started with some floats that the high school made, one for their football team that said 14 and 0 on it made Mattias laugh since they had 14 losses instead of wins, and they were followed by some of the local clubs and committees. Notably the Army veterans club had been gone. that and some NRA members had not shown up either. But what really surprised everyone was that marching band wasn't there. Instead some of the floats had been playing music from the radios they had. They were all tuned to the local station which had played the parade's usual sounds since the band was gone.
After they passed Main street there was a a gap between participants. Finally Mattias had seen why. Turning down the street were several men with guns. These were no hunting rifles either. All of them had assault rifles except for one who was standing in the middle of the group who had a large squad automatic weapon. However instead of screaming as they did when these men first arrived some people cheered as they did for the other floats. Mattias could see some people in the back with looks of anger on their faces. They didn't like what had happened but there was nothing they could do about it anymore.
But there is people. And i'll show you how. Mattias opened the case and the outside light reflected off the rifle inside. He pulled out the Remington 7400 and loaded a clip into it. He wasn't going to shoot the armed men. Oh no he'd have to be a little crazy to do that. It was the car that was coming in behind them that Mattias wanted. The armed men stopped a quarter of the way down the street and waited for the car to appear. A black Cadillac turned the corner with two people in it: The driver and a man called General Zar. From the car a new anthem played in place of the star spangled banner. Mattias tensed up from this. It had been only a week and half since they arrived at the town and they already began to act like they owned it. The only reason there general had been around for the festival was because he was leading the land invasion. The battle lines were still only thirty miles from the city, so why not show people who was going to control their country? But Mattias knew better. He knew that this general had to learn to stop showing off. And today would be the day. Mattias raised the rifle to his shoulder and peered down the scope. He could see the look on the general's face as he waved to the crowd. He had this smug smile on his face that just screamed " we're far more superior to you. " Mattias put his finger on the trigger and pulled. suddenly the General's head seemed to burst into bloody chunks. Before he fell, and before anyone could figure out what was going on or scream for that matter, Mattias quickly turned his aim to the SAW holder and fired another shot. The soldiers chest burst and his eyes suddenly went wide. He took a half a step and fell. Now the screams rang out and the soldiers had been alerted. Both the crowds and the soldiers began to scramble to get out of the crossfire. Mattias shot two more times and hit two more soldiers. One in the head and another through the side.
He was aiming at a fourth soldier but missed when he heard bullets scream past him. He hid behind the wall and then looked out to see who shot at him. There was a soldier who looked for cover in some bushes and spotted Mattias' spot. He aimed for the soldier and fired, Hitting the soldier in the neck and spraying blood all over the grass. Suddenly the wall was lit up by automatic fire. Mattias felt an explosion of pain in his shoulder and saw that a bullet had shot through it. It was time for him to get out of there. He ran back to the case which held a .38 revolver in it. the gun was preloaded and Mattias had some speed loaders for it. He threw the rifle over his good shoulder and got out the same fire escape he entered in. Before he could get to the bottom a couple of soldiers spotted him and began to fire at him. Another bullet struck him in the leg and he fell on top of a dumpster.
DAMN IT..... im not getting out of here am I? Questioned himself. The pain in his leg was worse than the shoulder wound. He heard the wooden fence crack and saw that some soldiers were breaking it down. Mattias raised the revolver and fired at the fence. six hole appeared in the fence, followed by blood pooling under it. He emptied the chambers and loaded a speed loader. He closed the cylinder when a hand grenade had suddenly landed by his feet. Mattias kicked it away and forced himself off the dumpster just as it went off. Mattias limped out of the alley and had barely crossed the street when two more bullets struck his back. He turned as he fell and fired into the alley, hitting one soldier in the leg. It began to get hard for Mattias to breath and it was getting hard for him to keep going. He laid down on the asphalt and stared at the sky. Some popping sounds had began in the distance. suddenly Mattias had peculiar thought run through his mind.
I guess they were right. This parade was one to remember.
