Mine. Ridermine. Mine, wake up. You've fallen asleep.

Hnnnnn.

Ialluth sighed and snaked through the salty waves, padding onto shore until she stood beside her rider. He always insisted on doing this the hard way. The green snapped open her wings and gave a good shake, dousing F'sey with the chilly seawater.

F'sey yelped in surprised, eyes flying open as he scrambled on top of the sand like a confused crustacean. "For Farnath's sake!" He was on his feet in the blink of an eye, shaking wildly as he tried to wring his hair out. What in Farnath's name was that for, he demanded, though there was absolutely no heat in his voice. He knew well what it was for, he just kept hoping eventually Ialluth would give up that tactic.

Why should I? the female inquired, her voice light, amused. It works perfectly every single time.

If dragons could smile, F'sey was sure his would be grinning at him toothily.

I suppose you want what we actually came for.

I would like a bath very much, Ridermine. How kind of you to offer.

F'sey rolled his eyes and shook his head, stripping out of shirt and boots while his dragon waded back into the water. He twisted his shirt a few times before spreading it out on the warm beach; hopefully it would be dry by the time Ialluth was content.

Mine, you are so slow, like an old buck.

Did you just call me old?

Dragons don't lie. Now come and bathe me, Mine.

Garenth and his rider flew low over the large body of water, the blue's enthusiastic bugle ringing out over the sand. The warm sun reflected prettily off of the surface of the clear blue water, winking up at the pair. It was a clear, sunny day at Ista Weyr, the air warm and perfect for bathing a particularly water-enthusiastic blue. Usually Garenth was a calm, collected, almost stoic dragon, with a slightly sarcastic or uninterested tone to his mind-speak -- much like his rider was on a regular basis -- but as soon as baths were mentioned, the blue was suddenly a little dragonet again.

Actually, this was the reason the pair was on the water now -- the blue had demanded a bath, or a coup would have been in order. It was only after the blue had refused to fly him to Ista hold that the blonde finally relented, albeit with a scowl.

'Looks as Ialluth and her rider are down there,' the blue relayed rather cheerfully to his blonde rider. V'len gave a hum in response, the sound lost to the wind.

'I hope they won't mind if we join them... or that it'll be too awkward'

'Mine? Awkward? Never.'

'Yeah, shut up.'

Making a lazy turn in the air, Garenth came in for a gentle landing on the sand, taking a few bouncing steps before coming to a stop. V'len slid off his dragons back and began removing the riding gear.

Ialluth noticed Garenth long before he landed, splashing around happily as she trumpeted a welcome, much to F'sey's dismay. He didn't particularly like company, especially while he was without his shirt, but he disliked company more when the arrival of such nearly caused his dragon to drown him.

Ialluth! Ialluth, stop making waves! The man ducked under her tail and popped back up, gasping for air as he wiped the salty water from his eyes. Ialluth, please!

Ialluth stopped then, twisting around to give Hers a gentle nose. Once she was sure he was fine and just fussing, she looked back to the blue, eyes a sparkle while she waited for him to join her. Baths were so much more fun if there was a friend involved!

You think everything is better with company. Who's here, Ialluth?

Find out for yourself, Ialluth replied, heartily amused.

F'sey scowled and folded his arms as he glanced over at the pair.

Garenth and His, mine. Really, you are no fun. She turned to the blue again and crooned to him. Quick, come join us! Mine was just dying for some company!

"W-WHAT? Ialluth! No!"

Garenth craned his neck back towards the green as she spoke, picking up on her amusement and echoing with a little of his own. 'V'lenMine was also quite eager for company, were you not, Mine?'

V'len made a slightly sour face, already anticipating the awkwardness that was to come. Oh, he was sure that F'sey was nice enough -- he had not met him, personally, but the bluerider was not very good at being sociable. His only real conversationalists were those who spoke to him first, and they only truly succeeded if they could handle his blank looks and one-word responses. Then again, he had gotten better, with much thanks to A'kor. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.

Maybe.

Taking off the last harness, the blonde slapped his dragon's hide affectionately, shaking his head. "Yeah yeah, go get in the water already," V'len replied with a sigh, removing his own riding gear. The blue gave his rider an appreciative nuzzle before bounding into the water gracelessly, acting more like a weyrling than the full-grown dragon he really was.

'It is nice to see you, Ialluth -- please tell your Mine we are happy to see him also,' Garenth swam up to the green and her rider, careful to not to create too many waves. V'len rolled his eyes, calling from the beach.

"I thought you wanted a bath Garenth!"

'I do. You have to get in the water first, though...'

It was quite clear V'len had never met F'sey, or never even heard of him, not if he thought F'sey was nice enough. And this little greenrider did not have any friends to make him behave better, none that he would listen to, anyways. Except maybe that little Handra, or H'dra as he was now, but that was neither here nor there. Ialluth was making an absolute fool out of him.

Garenth and His are happy to see us, Ialluth reported cheerily, extending her wings as she crooned to the friendly blue. This was lovely, absolutely lovely. She fished her tail and twisted, showing off her glimmering green hide for the blue.

F'sey rolled his eyes and made his way back towards shore. There was no way he was staying out there if Ialluth had a friend; surely the pair of them would drown him. He wasn't that strong of a swimmer to begin with, the waves two rambunctions dragons could whip up were too much for him to compete with.

Once he reached the shallow water, he stood, eyeing V'len very warily. "I wouldn't do in there, if I were you. She's a sea beast."

Ialluth preened, eyes whirling blue as she hummed to herself. Maybe she had a few tricks up her sleeve, if Hers would not take it upon himself to be social.

"Oh. Wonderful. She'll get along great with Garenth..." He replied, watching his blue with a slightly exasperated look, "I thought he wanted a bath. Now I think he just wants to talk to your green."

Taking a second look at F'sey, he blinked slowly, turning his attention back to the rider his blue was currently making friends with. He was surprised to find that F'sey was quite a bit older than the other riders he usually saw around the weyr (especially now that they had little weyrlings running around). The blonde relaxed a little more, feeling more at ease with someone older than the flirtatious, obnoxious and/or completely full-of-themselves riders he was accustomed to dealing with.

"I'm V'len," The bluerider offered, trying to keep relaxed, hopefully not making this meeting any more awkward than it had to be, "Sorry we interrupted your bathing session. It was quite rude of us." The bluerider ran a hand through his hair apologetically, feeling bad perhaps putting F'sey into a bad mood.

Meanwhile, Garenth was quite obviously not as apologetic as His was, the blue's eyes whirling pleasantly as he admired the green, the sun reflecting prettily off the water droplets on her hide. Ducking down down into the water, he tucked his wings close to his back, flicking a few more droplets into the air.

"Excellent," F'sey muttered, running his hands through his tangled, wet hair. He'd need his own bath when they returned to the Weyr. "That's just what she needs."

The greenrider couldn't help but blink when V'len apologized, a little confused. Most riders just assumed their presence was more than welcome. Just because Ialluth loved any and all sorts of company didn't mean F'sey appreciated it, but it took a lot of hissing and snarling to make that point. "It's alright," the man supposed, shrugging as he watched V'len carefully. "I'm F'sey. That's Ialluth, if she hasn't introduced herself yet."

Ialluth watched Garenth dive in, happy noises bubbling from her until she dived under herself, slapping her tail against the water as she pushed herself down. The wave she caused came all the way to shore, splashing her rider from behind. F'sey yelped, much to his dismay, and strolled to V'len's side, ringing himself out. "You don't mind if I stay over here, do you?"

V'len blinked again when the greenrider shrugged and accepted his apology, surprised, but also quite relieved. It would not due to get on another dragonerider's bad side. Besides, he kind of liked F'sey already. Trying to pretend he didn't notice the greenrider watching him, V'len nodded slowly to the introduction. "Well met, F'sey," The bluerider responded, offering his fellow rider a respectful dip of his head.

The blonde gave a heavy sigh, lowering himself gently onto the warm sand, tilting his head back and closing his eyes. Well, at least it would be a chance to relax. The sun felt nice on his skin, warming his over-used muscles. Just because he was a dragonrider didn't mean he had it easy, much to people's surprise. Couldn't be out of shape. Besides wing training, there was always some work to do around the weyr. Dragons to be washed...

F'sey's voice brought him back from his reverie, blue eyes blinking open in surprise. "No, of course not," V'len replied, trying not to look amused at Ialluth's antics, "She's very pretty. And very friendly."

Garenth dipped his head under the water as the wave began to pass over him, heading towards the beach and ultimately all over Ialluth's rider. The blue gave a little flick of his own tail from under the water, propelling him forward a little. 'Yours looks a little stiff -- is he not happy with us?' Garenth asked, looking up at the green from beneath the water, his blue body blending fairly well with the blue of the water.

F'sey started to wonder when he'd learn to bring a towel, or something to dry himself off. Flopping down in the sand would just get him all gritty, putting on his shirt would only soak it. But he didn't have a lot of other choices, did he? He was just standing around awkwardly, dripping on V'len. Hm. F'sey took a step back, wondering how the afront to his personal bubble got overlooked.

"...friendly's one way of putting it," he muttered, still confounded by his water problem.

Mine, you're just wet. Just settle down.

But F'sey ignored his dragon and shook a little, hair sticking up at wild angles once he was done. The plan wasn't a very good one; he was still quite damp and now his hair was a tangled mess. Bah, the ocean was so overrated.

"I don't suppose you have a towel, or something," F'sey asked, nearly biting his tongue as he asked. He hated asking for favors. Then he owed the other something in return. (But Farnath, he didn't want to be sandy.)

Ialluth sighed and shook her head, shifting her gaze from her rider back to the charming blue. He was still swimming. Amused, the green followed him from the surface, chirping and humming deep in her throat as she followed. Mine is always unhappy. I try to tell him more friends will make him feel better, but he won't listen. If it were up to him, he'd stay in his weyr all alone all day. Imagine if I let him! How miserable he would be.

V'len didn't seem to notice that the other rider was dripping water practically on his person, his own blue eyes focused on the dragons in the water. A Turn ago, maybe it would have bothered him that the other rider was so close, and perhaps even the fact that he was having a conversation with someone he didn't know. Now it didn't even phase him, thanks to A'kor. He didn't even notice, and when he did, the blonde found he wasn't even bothered. F'sey seemed like a good man, if a little stiff. Which, in all honest, he was perfectly ok with. When it came to being bold, cocky and obnoxious, his redheaded lover was the only one he was ok with.

"There's nothing wrong with that," the bluerider responded after a few minutes, a small smile curling the corner of his lips as he watched the dragons play, "She's quite endearing. Garenth likes her."

'She's very nice, Mine. I hope we are not upsetting Hers... I think he asked you a question.'

The bluerider blinked twice, startled, and glanced up at F'sey, his question registering after a few seconds. "Oh, sure," V'len blinked, getting up from his spot to reach into his riding pouch, pulling out a towel. Handing it to the greenrider, he tried not to make a big deal out of it, sitting back down in the warm sand, enjoying the sun.

F'sey took the towel with a nod of his head, not betraying the rush of gratitude he felt. He rubbed his dark red hair and wrung it out before taking care of the rest of his body. Once he was satisfied with the way he felt, he spread the towel out on the sand to dry. It wouldn't do to just toss V'len a wet lump and be done with it.

Mine. Say thank you. Manners, at the very least.

F'sey let out an exasperated sigh. "Thankyou," he muttered, looking everywhere but at the bluerider. He wanted to sit down. He also didn't want to be exceptionally close to the rider, even if he was quiet and not terribly abrasive. Torn, the greenrider simply grunted to himself and looked around, clearly at a loss for some sort of solution.

Mine is so hopeless. Hopeless, I tell you! There he stands, looking like a deadglow, and doesn't even make to talk.

Ialluth let out an exasperated sigh and turned to her blue companion, eyes whirling. Confounding creatures, are they not?

V'len blinked, looking quite confused as the older rider thanked him for the towel, quirking eyebrow and giving F'sey a questioning look. For some reason, he hadn't really expected a thanks. Not that it wasn't appreciated -- V'len was not a fan of rude people, much less rude dragonriders, but he got the feeling that he wouldn't have minded if F'sey hadn't thanked him. Perhaps it was just the feeling he got from the greenrider, that he didn't need words to convey what he felt or meant, or was even comfortable with vocalizing such things. There was just something in the way he held himself, in his posture that, while not giving up an ounce of dignity, told V'len that he appreciated the act.

"You're welcome," He replied after a time, only after his blue once again nudged his mind. For someone who claims to dislike stupid people, you are not quite intelligent yourself sometimes.

'Thank you Garenth, I appreciate that statement,' the blonde replied with a light scowl, glancing over at the two dragons swimming contentedly in the sea.

"I'm sorry I haven't been very... er... conversational," the bluerider said a little awkwardly as he stared out over the ocean, reaching up to shake some stray sand out of his hair, "but then again, you don't seem the type who would want someone you're forced into a situation with to be very chatty, if you'll excuse my saying." The last statement was followed by a light, almost personal laugh, as if the statement were more about himself than about F'sey. Which was part of the reason he was laughing.

"You're very perceptive," F'sey remarked, wondering to himself why on in Farnath's name he was actually trying to make conversation. V'len was absolutely correct. He hated making small talk; it was a complete waste of breath. Maybe his little green dragon was getting to him. "Are you a Searchrider?" he drawled. They looked for that sort of thing, right? Very perceptive dragons and riders?

The greenrider finally settled himself on the sand, a comfortable distance from V'len without actually getting too far away for the occasional words. Wiggling into the warmth, he closed his eyes and shaded his face with a hand. "I guess I can stay here for a while," he finally decided, to no one in particular. "The sun is nice."

Don't burn! his dragon chirped cheekily, splashing back through the ocean before giving Hers a moment to respond.
