Step #1: "Lets Mold, And Contort Synthesized Silver ;D?"

.. Only a few hours after his introduction to the squad, Saki could be seen trailing with only one of his duffel bags. He'd strolled into the large lab looking around as if he were a kid's museum where they let the little ones touch things. Sadly, this wasn't a similar place and a lot of blue and green vials were broken. With each mess came a robot, or some guy in a hazmat suit to clean it up.. Oh well! Saki had a purpose here at the moment, and was authorized to do something himself for once. If one were to be around him long enough, they would notice how he'd began wearing a 'Utility' belt of some sort, studded with small cylindrical tubes. This belt he wore now was full but his last set! Obtaining these things on Earth was a trivial matter, not knowing anyone who used to them.. But knowing how to construct them. Before the process involved bothering the man with the funny green and white hat till he either gave him some of the molded silver or the finished product. When he felt guilty for using his annoyance powers, but forgot the feeling after using them all up!

Abruptly now, the semi-silent lab echoed horribly, the sound coming from Saki as thought. He'd slammed the heavy bag on the table, (Surprisingly Not Showing Strain in lifting It!) unzipped it in the same moment. Within it, he revealed a few 'Bricks' of silver, dull and somewhat similar to clay. The only way to tell it was silver was its weight, feel, and overall color. This 'Soul Synthesized Silver' would be one of the main ingredients in the recipe today! it played the role as the main item for which the finished products actions to come forth from. This material wasn't prone to damage from over-exertion to Reishi.. This meant it wouldn't break down or get 'Wear and Tear' from natural use. It made the finished product reusable! Now having lugged the items about the table, he drooped both arms into the bag. Putting on a cute expression, he let his tongue slid along the bottom lip, tapping the side of his mouth and looking up as if he were thinking of something..Stupid? Seemingly forgetting, his eyes lit up with excitement. There, in his back, were more 'Bricks', just smaller and lighter. They weren't the silver, but unmolded trays.. Some of them had been dawdled in, shown in how one tube was crammed into the center on two different plates. The original ginto shape was already done!

He did need more though. He wanted to make a 'Larger' ginto, taking out two of the moldings and a single glimmering needle. Swiping furiously, he lasted an entire seven minutes straight, designing and working on detail.. His innate indents looked like chicken scratch till he stood the mold up.. Surprisingly, his indents revealed themselves to be markings and lacing scriptures seen on normal ginto. Measuring the sizes he came to the pre-planned points and let the mold Insta-Dry. This process was repeated several times over a two hour period, allowing each plate to dry and then sculpting the next. It took a good fourteen minutes for each, having to do half a cylinder at a time, and working to connect the lacing on each. A good while passed and he was now seen sitting on the table, cross legged and holding a few bricks in his right hand. Taking in and then letting out a deep breath, he would abruptly ram the heavy structures into the molding. A combination of blurring hands and heavy impact caused a crack as the dull rectangles crushed the unneeded outside of the mold. Standing them up against each other, he was looking at the shape of his ginto.. All sizes and whatnot.

Wiping sweat from his forehead, he soon laced a few simple indents into about seven or eight unused molds. Repeating the process and working for thirty minute,s he slammed the 'Brick' atop this molding also.. There stood open rectangular moldings of two different lengths. In excitement, he hopped upwards.. And fell off the side of the table.

Step #2; "Melt The Soul... Fill The Tray... Slice The Table In Twelve!"

Getting up slowly, he wasn't bothering to rub any damaged places. It seemed his little fall produced no damage anyway! Small as he was, one would suspect him to be so sturdy! "Step one is complete.. the molding trays are ready! the lacing have been set to match my necessary call-outs, and a few blanks if anything new comes up. Those Seele Schneider thingies hopefully have the correct inscriptions in the center of them.. Mr. Flippy floppy better have wrote those lines right!" Ranting on and speaking aloud, he continued his work. Now came the step of melting the silver and whatnot.. Knowing it'd take a while, he decided to get to it! It seemed he would nee dot carry the molds AND silver bricks to the machine across the warehouse and up a few floors, putting them in the machine and allowing them to become liquid after a whiles worth of waiting. Seemed like a bit of physical work for someone who didn't have Hirenkyaku! Cutting the ride short, he restocked the duffelbag and flashed away, reappearing every few seconds to press a button or enter an elevator.

Now nearing the room where this 'Liquefying' machine was kept, he marveled at the size of this oven, complete with places for the trays.. This place really did have everything! With renewed excitement, he fell forward and began placing bricks in designated areas. In a compartment (much like the bottom layer of drawers on his old refrigerator!) he placed the moldings area. Closing the oven with a slam, he flicked the button and fell back in a blurring motion, flipping acrobatically and looking on.. He sat there listening to the microwave noises in his "Cool" pose, acting all serious until the low pitched 'Ding' sounded. Rolling forward, he opened the oven to find smoke bellowing outwards. Falling within the mass, it cleared after completely covering the rooms area.. he sat on the ground, shuffling and putting on gloves.. Going beneath to the smaller compartment, he pulled out trays of what would seem to be pure cooling liquid..?! What the hell happened to his trays.. All this blue and green crap ha- "Ohh~!!" With widened eyes, he watched the liquid drain, revealing the completely cooled product. Saki was happy now, seeing as he'd forgotten how hot the substance would have been.. With the cooled product, he began plucking the items, the ginto going straight to the duffel bag and filling it all the way! It seemed the last step was nearing closer.. Filling the tubes with his own liquefied energy!

Beginning to walk away with quite a bit of pep in his step, he dropped the bag and disappeared.. Some leftover trays revealed themselves when the compartment expanded, popping them upwards on square platforms..?! Saki gripped the single row of eight peculiar items, five being of normal size and a few being of staff size..? Grinning, two of the longer ones were slipped onto the back of his pull-over in an "X" position. The last was just above his sword, concealing it even further and protruding from either end. The others found themselves fitted within the square openings placed there for them. Testing them out, he left a single Seel Schneider out.. "Harumph!" Shouting, he slashed it upwards, making the "Heroic Link" pose.. Smiling, he watched as reishi form the atmosphere quickly built up the frigid blade, making it a full sword with no guard. Swiping it, he ran out of the room swinging without a care.. Before he was seen again, he'd slashed four or five tables into pieces of twelve! "All that's left is filling the ginto! Then I can really test these thingies out!" giggling.. He dispersed instantaneously!

Kinsetsu entered the monstrocity of a lab for the firs time and knew instantly he had all the tools required to complete this approved technolgy. He was quite eager to begin as this would represent the initial step to the completion of his much bigger project.

The first step would be to attach the fiberglass insulator sheet to the object he had in mind. In this case due to his specific request in size of the fiberglass insulator it would on a door. The insulation would be key to prevent the air flow and movements. In order for the invisibility effect to occur no movement or change in shape of the cloak he was about to make must be present. The goal was to have the light bend around the object one wished to block by the cloak effectively making it non existant. All the electromagnetic rays and wavelengths would seemingly skip the object allowing for no reflections to occur. This was known as reaching the point of negative index of refraction.

As he approached an empty table he place both the door and fiberglass insulator on the table. The first issue came with attaching one to the other has he had maintain the same properties of the fiberglass insulator. This therefore required the use of a glass based bonding agent. As he thought he recalled about the use of glass cement in dentistry for molars. He could use a silicate glass powder with polyalkenoic acid. They would bond chemically for a solid object which he could use with a mold to create attachments from the door to the fiberglass insulator using glass based substance. This required him to visit lab 1

(post will be in lab 1 for the attachment)

Returning back after a 6 hours later after allowing the attachment the appropriate time to fully bond his structure was complete. As much as it was a success this was by far the easiest stage of the project. The subsequent steps require great attention to detail and precision. He had managed to calculate the negative index of refraction on the object of the size he wanted therefore he knew how to place each of the many materials that would go in the cloak. The problem was the precision of each despite measurements would be a constant battle as each piece had to be in perfect balance. He thought about this and decided that he would require a fresh start on another day to begin this task. He needed a clear mind that was not fatigued.

He proceeded to store all his items and materials within one of the small vaults. Technological development required the upmost security and he would take every precaution to ensure that his project was not interfered with. Satisfied that all was safe he exited the lab looking forward to his return.

a week had passed and Kinsetsu was finally able to find enough time to make his way back ot the lab. He hadn't been back yet as the subsequent step required several hours of work and he wished to complete it in one shot rather being interupted while he was in the middle of it. He made his way back to the vaults and opened the one containing his items for the project. The door with the now attached figerglass sheet was place on the workstation. He proceeded to grab the metamaterials which would be part of the next stage of the project. They were so small that even with his eyes he would require a microscopic lense in order to assemble them.

The goal was to create the effect of bending of the light which would make his object invisible. This occured similar to the effect of a mirage. When light rays from the sky hit the hot, thin air just above the surface of the asphalt, they bend. Although light moves through a vacuum at a constant speed, it slows down when traveling through any transparent medium, like water or glass. Light travels faster in the hot, thin air close to the road than it does in the cold, dense air above, and that difference in speed is what causes it to shift direction as it crosses the boundary between the two. Rays once headed from the sky to the ground are redirected to your eye, making the road shimmer like water. In effect, the mirage is cloaking the now invisible road behind an image of the blue sky. For his door to be concealed or any other stationary object he must bend incoming beams in a controlled manner which brought in the metamaterials.

These metamaterials possessed an ability not naturally found to bend light at extreme angles known as the negative index of refraction. In this case he would have to specificially place his metamaterials on the fiberglass insulator sheet in a manner that moved in a specific way. In order to do this he had to take the strands of metamaterials and create conducting metal coil shapes. This would be designed to direct electromagnetic radiation away from the object.

He spent the next 2 hours slowly making each strand into coil shapes. It took so long due to having to create them precisely maintain a perfect shape. This was meticulous work and required a steady hand. He had to use the the micoscopic lense during the course of this work and it took a huge strain on his eyes. After the two hours he was quite releaved to see the coils all finished.

He had now been in the lab for four hours and decided to take a five minute break to clear his thoughts. I'm halfway there just got to grind a bit more today and I will be close to the end. Then I can begin my real work. His personal project was the primary goal but the new technology in itself would be quite useful for the overall sereitei. Obviously an invisibility cloak would not be ideal in combat as it only worked without movement of the object but it could be quite useful in tactical reconnaissance. He was certain they would quite like what he had developed.

He returned to his workstation and using the microscopic lense spent the next 3 hours placing the metamaterial coils in a specific pattern to create the proper direction to deflect the rays. Each was place in a triangular pattern throughout the whole sheet. This would combined with the negative index of refraction of the materials bend the rays in a way they would not not touch the object and as result create the effect of its non existance. Finally done he let out a huge sigh of relief as he was tired physically and mentality due to the precision required. He put away all his work in the vault and would return shortly to finish the last stage of the project.

He had completed the majority of the work the previous day. The cloak device had its structure and would bend the light around it the problem now became the ability to produce an image that would camouflage. In most large open areas the cloaking device as is would simply send light around it allowing the potential viewers to look at distant objects behind. In his case the area would be quite enclosed and have similar properties throughout the area. Knowing this he therefore knew he would require to have reflections on the cloak itself to portray a constant image of surrounding areas. In order to do this came in the photonic crystals.

Photonic crystals are composed of periodic dielectric or metallo-dielectric nanostructures that affect the propagation of electromagnetic waves in the same way as the periodic potential in a semiconductor crystal affects the electron motion by defining allowed and forbidden electronic energy bands. Essentially, photonic crystals contain regularly repeating internal regions of high and low dielectric constant. Photons propagate through this structure or not - depending on their wavelength. Wavelengths of light that are allowed to travel are known as modes. In essence the photonic crystals would act as 360 degree mirrors guiding wavelength and reflecting them around the object it is place upon.

He proceeded to then place the photonic crystals within the fiberglass sheet and metamaterials. The placement was less important due to the omni-directional mirror property it had. He proceeded to attach them in gaps of 5 cm across the object. He also attached a bit of copper wires throughout sheet to increase the mircrowave movements that would occur. This took him less than 1 hour to do and he proceeded to wait as his attachment secured themselves with the bonding agent.

Finally the end is here He thought as he looked at the finished product. He was clearly pleased by his work and he was certain it would leave an impression upon his captain. He had asked for so much material due to needing to create two models of the invisibility cloaking device. One would be used for his his hidden door the other would be the sample piece for the department. He then spent the next 3 hours making a duplicate copy of his orginal work at a much smaller scale. He made a 2 foot by 2 foot cloaking sheet similar to the size of small a large hand towel. He placed this model on the table and took the much larger personal model into his vault.

The lab was dark, just as it had always been. Genji treaded slowly and cautiously, trying to avoid bumping into something a causing a rumpus. He came to assist in the design of the portable kido cannon, a revolutionary idea. If Genji's name were to be in those foot notes at least once, that would be fantastic. However, he tried not to get his hopes too high. Kinsetsu was not easy to find.

"Kinsetsu-san, are you here?"

Kinsetsu who had just returned from a visit in his underground facility entered the lab to see a shadowy figure in the darkness. It took him a few more steps to realize who it Genji one of the squad 5 shinigami who had been present at the meeting on the kido Cannon guns. He had been given word that Genji had a few ideas on the gun design so had invited the shinigami to make a visit to share his ideas and be of aid to him.

" Welcome Genji, I'll turn on the lights as its best to work where we can fully see what we are doing." He said with a smile.

With the lights on he proceeded towards Genji's location taking out his notepad in the process. He was going to take notation of the concept Genji had in mind and hoped it was one of use.

"I hear you have a conceptual idea on how the weapon should look so I think we should get that idea of yours in the open. Please tell me your thoughts." as he perched his pen on the first open page.

Genji's eyes whinced when the light shot on. He closed them suddenly. As they slowly opened, he saw a blurred figure advance towards him. With a quick rub, the fuzziness was gone, and Genji could see Kinsetsu.

"Good day, sir," Genji said with a bow. "It is an honor to work with you on such an important and impressive project. As for the design concepts, I would like to ask first which direction you would like to go: rustic or modern?"

"Aesthetically speaking it is not fully my concern I admit. As long as I can fit in the components I need for the weapon to work I'm open to any design.

For one,I need to have release valves that are pushed open with the natural energy recoil to prevent the impact on the users body. These will be pin sized and spread a centimer apart as I need them small to prevent too much energy being directed into one area upon release. Secondly, the crystals will need to be in circular formation with the larger crystal being the tip point at the end. That design in itself cannot change or the device won't work. Finally, we are using Gino Tubes so need ability to insert them quickly. My thinking is to have them work like a typical 6 round colt.

If I look at it this way we may need to mix the old school with the new school as I will not use typical metals due to the potential weight of the device. We need it quite light to maintain full mobility and ease.

I understand your quite a creative mind therefore I believe you could visualize something quite nice with these requirements. The insert of the tubes is not a final design idea so could hear other suggestions on that but the valves and crystal alignment cannot change."

He gave Genji a moment to digest what he had just said as it may have given him new visual idea of the potential weapon. If this guy was as creative as rumored he would come up with something quite nice.

Genji opened the backpack he had been carrying and pulled out a folder from its immaculate bowels.

"I have some design concepts that may work," Genji said happily as he thumbed through the folder. "I have done some research on weapons on Earth used in reality and fiction. The imagination is a awesome thing, Kinsetsu-san. These are some of my favorites. I have some of my own original sketches too, but first, let's see what you think of these."

Genji pulled out a picture and smiled.

"What do you think of this one." He handed Kinsetsu the picture.

"The slots on the sides can be used to release built-up pressure. The crystals can be held within the cylindrical bodies with the large ones would being exposed in between the two bodies as you see. Plus, it is stream-lined, light, and gorgeous."

Looking at the device it was quite flashy but it also seemed to be as he said. This could be made very light and it would be quite easy to handle sturdily.

"Not bad I can already think of stuff to do with it. The bottom portion would be mostly useless orignally thinking but now it can serve a huge purpose. I can use the bottom as the energy release valve area as it could more easily send the pressure built up energy away from the users body in a safe manner. The energy would be force down the front bar which I would remake cylindrical.

The large crystal I'd mount at the end of the top portion while attaching the smaller crystals around going around the top point base. The gino tubes would be inserted in the back of the top portion and the trigger on the back handle would send the spark to melt the bottle and release the energy which would be forced to the path of the crystal. With a few modifications this design could work.

It seems you came prepared and therefore I will use your design as the basic template with those neccessary additions. Since it is your concept maybe you should stick around during the build part. Do you have any experience in metallurgie?"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 17, 2009 7:02 pm

Genji was ecstatic to hear the sweet words of praise.

"Thank you, sir!" Genji said enthusiastically. "I am honored to have my choice of design... choosen. Thank you so much. I would be more than happy to stay and assist you with anything else you need. Do you need any refreshment? I would be happy do get it for you at the turn of a hat."

He was glad that genji was taking up his offer. He did thought expect more than him just being an errand boy if he was to help. He saw potential and wanted his direct involvement with the construction.

"Well if you stay you will do a little more than get drinks. Your an artist correct therefore I need you to make me actual size model of the crystals in the patten they will be. We still do not have the crystals yet on hand so I will need to have design done with aluminum plates that we will form into same shape. There are metal sheets on the table to your left. We have a metal roller a few paces away that can serve as the tool to shape them.We also have metal cutters and tact gun so all the tools you need are here.

Here is an image of the crystals look with the schematic sizes. The large crystal as you see will be focal point reaching a length of a foot while the other crystals will go around it in a circular formation of 6 inches. I will in the meantime begin to build the gun portion of your design in order to take it from paper to reality. Any questions?"

He clealy wanted to get things rolling as the captains had entrusted him with a huge task in the project. He did not want to dissapoint as this was his proving ground to be recognized as one of great scientific mind in the sereitei.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 18, 2009 7:42 pm

"As you wish," Genji said with excitement. "I will shape the aluminum into crystals for the model, correct? I just want to make sure I do what you desire correctly.

"Yes. It will allow me to see how the model with will work with actual sized replicate crystals. Thank you for asking if you were unsure we must do this right." He was glad that the Genji showed he cared to make it perfect by asking the question. He would be a great partner for this project he thought.
