~Flashback~ Logan gave a contented sigh as he walked out of the water. He went swimming every day after he cleaned his cabin (which wasn't hard since it was just him). He just finished his swim, shaking the water out of his brown hair and forcing the drops on his skin to roll off onto the ground. Yes, he could stay dry if he wanted, but he liked the feeling of being wet in water.
Logan had just gotten dry when his friend John, son of Apollo ran up to him. Logan pulled on his green T-shirt and flip-flops as he greeted his friend, "Hey, John what's up?" John took a moment to catch his breath, as he had run the whole distance. "New girl," he said as he pointed back towards camp. "And she's kinda cute." he said with a sly wink. Logan smirked and followed his friend back up the trail to camp. A few other people were gathered around the big hosue waiting for the girl to leave. Soon, Chiron appeared in the doorway smiling as he led the new girl.
She was Logan's age. She had strawberry blond hair and pretty green eyes. She was also around Logan's height. "Well now, we'll get you settled into your cabin. Hmm... Ah Logan, could you show Ben to Cabin Eleven please?" Chiron requested, hoping they would become friends. It was important to make friends quickly especially among kids the same age.

Twisting her slightly curled tawny locks around her finger, Bennie skipped down the steps of the Big House and smiled brightly at the kid Chiron had pointed out as Logan. She tugged her pony tail over her shoulder, her deep emerald eyes locking with his dark chocolate-colored eyes. Her hands fell from her hair and started to tug at the hem of her baby pink blouse, pulling on the loose edge just above her light blue below-the-knee skirt.
"Bennie, you need your things." Chiron pointed back to the suitcase and backpack on the porch.
With one more smile to Logan, she danced around and back up the steps to grab her bags. Each step was carefully taken in her white sandals, allowing a hollow sound of cork against wood to break the stillness around them. Then returned to Logan's side. "Hi there, I'm Bennie Daunt." She smiled sweetly, careful to make it look right over her slightly crooked teeth.

Logan stifled a laugh as Bennie left her things on the porch. She must be nervous. Of course, who WOULDN'T be nervous? She just found out news that would totally change her life forever. The son of Poseidon gave a small smile, "Logan Kindley. Son of Poseidon." he explained. Logan tugged slightly on the swim trunks he always seemed to be wearing. "Well, you'll be in cabin eleven, Bennie, Hermes's cabin, until you are claimed." he explained as he led her towards the cabins.
He pointed to his own cabin as they passed it, "I'm right in there, you can come by if you need something." he promised. "I know the first couple of weeks can be rough. Oh and if any of the Ares kids give you a rough time, tell me. I've been here a while, I know how to deal with them." he said with a grim look.
Logan led Bennie to the Hermes cabin and opened the door for her, "Sorry, it's a bit cramped." he explained. "Just throw your stuff down somewhere that isn't claimed, and I'll get someone to get you some toiletries and stuff." he assured her as he turned to a hermes kid, passing him a five dollar bill with a wink. The girl returned the wink and walked out.

"Thanks." Bennie smiled up at Logan, clasping both hands around the handle of her suitcase and holding it at her knees. "I hope I get claimed soon. I'd rather not be stuck around a lot of people. Crowds scare me." She laughed nervously, brushing her side swept red-blond bangs from her eyes, "But I live to perform. Funny, isn't it?"
Glancing inside the open door, Bennie looked over the crowded cabin and sighed. "I don't know how well I'll do in that mess though. Maybe I could just stay outside my cabin as much as possible." She gave another smile to him, "Thanks again, Logan. I guess I'll see you around?"

Logan nodded and turned, "The best way to make friends here is to just stay social. If you do friends just seem to find you." he explained. Then, as he turned to leave he added, "Remember, if you need anything just stop bye my cabin, the first one on the left. It's just me in there so if you ever feel the need to get out of the crowd you're always welcome."
The son of Poseidon left the cabin, the screen door slamming shut behind him. He returned to his own cabin with a content sigh. It smelled of the salty sea air. The cabin looked pretty different from the times Percy had spent in it. The battle against Kronos had ravaged the camp and instead of the same old stone building, it was spruced up a bit. The walls were made of smooth, multi colored coral. There was a large sea water fountain that made rainbows almost any time of day and a basin filled of golden drachmas beside it. In the windows, there were many aquariums filled with exotic sea life and plants. It was wonderful. Logan then proceded to change into his day clothes.~End Flashback~ ~Start NEXT Flashback (mwahaha yay for back flashing) July 27th~ The usual sounds could be heard from the Poseidon cabin this morning. The snoring, the alarm clock, the hitting of the snooze button, the continued snoring, the slam as a shoe hit the alarm clock, and the eventual thud and groan as Logan rolled over trying to fall back asleep and fell off the bed. The half-blood pulled on his swim trunks over his aqua boxers, slipped on his flip-flops and opened the door groggily. He stumbled into the bright morning light, glancing quickly at the Hera cabin, wondering if Bennie was up yet. The teenager strolled down to the lake where he kicked off his shoes and jumped into the water.

The screech of an alarm pierced the solitude of the cabin and a fierce groan broke over it as it was shut off. The covers rustled as Bennie turned about in her bed. With a sigh, she slipped from the bed and pulled her sleep shirt over her head, one of Logan's older shirts. She quickly pulled on a royal blue and aqua sun dress on and leaned on her vanity.
The motions of Bennie applying her make-up were simple with just a touch of eyeliner and mascara today and a layer of chap stick. She pulled her midnight colored hair back into a pony tail and smiled in the mirror before she slipped on her black flip flops and dashed out the door.
Bennie waved as she walked herself to the beach, in these past three years she had become increasingly popular with many of the campers. That bothered her only slightly, she didn't really do crowds. Barely catching Logan's body disappear into the water, Bennie found herself sitting on the edge of the cliff to overlook the water. The large water serpent starting to erode and being broken away by the war with Kronos. The once menacing stone statue was only a shadow of its former self. She smiled gleefully as she watched Logan surface every so often for air and then disappear back into the water.
Laying back, Bennie closed her eyes and listened to the waves crash against the rocks below. The sound of gulls soon reached her ears and the smell of salt washed over her with a warm breeze. Today was a beautiful day. Today was also Logan's 17th birthday. And sadly, today was also the day Logan would be leaving Camp since he was only a summer camper. Logan was supposed to be Bennie's best friend, but she couldn't tell herself she didn't want to be romantically involved with him.

Logan continued to do laps back and forth in the water, coming up for breath out of force of habit. He had to come up to breathe during the year and it was a habit that he couldn't really shake off easily at camp. He swam for ten minutes until, when he came up for a breath, he noticed a flash of blue and aqua above him and to his right.
Starting to tread water, he turned and looked up to see Bennie above him, the morning sun coming up behind her sparkling off her hair as she smiled at him. Logan smiled and waved back to her, swiming back to the sandy shore. Some of the Naiads and the female campers giggled and waved at him. He smiled akwardly and waved back. Although he wasn't as "hot" as the sons of Apollo, Logan was quite a wanted man. It was particularly uncomfortable considering he didn't really have feelings for any of them.
Logan turned towards Bennie and jogged the short distance between them, the water rolling off his skin as he did so. By the time he got to Ben he was completely dry. "Hey." he said, slipping on his aqua flip-flops. I see you've dressed for the occasion." he pointed out, talking of course of Ben's aqua dress. It was Logan's birthday after all. "I feel so old," he laughed as he sat down next to her. "It's strange, thinking that we've known each other for four years now, huh?" he murmured, looking out over the water.

"Three, Logan, we've known each other for three years." A smile played Bennie's lips, "But yeah, I did dress for the occasion." With a laugh, she threw her hand against Logan's chest, "And you make me feel old. I'll be seventeen in just a few months." She twisted a thick piece of hair around her bony finger and smiled brightly at him. Her pale legs kicked out from the edge of the cliff and her heels connected each time with the rocky wall. Until finally, her flip flops slipped off her feet and fell down to waves. "Damn. Oh well."
Turning to Logan, Bennie smiled again, "So how's it feel to be old? Do tell. I need to know what to prepare for."

Logan laughed and took Bennie's hand from his chest, holding it for a moment or two before letting it fall. "Really? Only three? I guess it just seems like longer because you know how time always goes slower when you don't have fun." he said tauntingly. "Because you're just SO boring Bennie." Logan chuckled softly at that thought. A boring bennie was as strange a thought as a stupid son of Athena.
The surfer frowned down as the flip flops made a splash in the water. "It's that kind of oh well attitude that ruins the oceans!" he said fiercly. Logan felt the familiar tug behind his navel as he mad the water push the flip flops up and back to Bennie's lap. Below, a couple of otters splashed below them squealing their thanks to Logan. "See? The strap could have strangled one of them if their head got stuck in it..." he murmured gently, setting the shoes aside.
Logan considred Bennie's question carefully. He knew they were just joking around, but it brought up serious questions. He WAS getting older. First there was the thought of how long he had, if he was going to die soon. Half-bloods rarely lived to their mid twenties. Also, he would be starting at the University of Miami, he almost had an automatic entrance because his mother was a top student there, and his dad could pull some strings. It felt strange, knowing he was growing up. He wasn't a kid anymore. The thought troubled Logan for some reason. He knew he would need to buckle down and get serious. That was a real problem for him. "It's fine, nothign to worry about." he lied with a fake smile.

"Uh huh." Bennie's smile faded "I'm sure." She stood, slipping on her slightly damp flip flops, glad Logan had returned them. Her deep brown eyes looked down almost lovingly and sympathetic as she examined Logan, "You know, just cause you're getting older doesn't mean you have to grow up. You can still be a kid. It's not the end of your young adult life." She smiled then, reassuringly. Tucking a lose strand of hair behind her ear, Bennie stuck out a hand to help Logan up, "C'mon, let's walk."

Logan put on a fake smile, still pondering on how much time he really did have left. He could be killed at any moment in the real world. Camp was the only safe place for him. Logan pushed those thoughts out of his head and took Bennie's hand, following her down the path. "It's gonna suck to leave camp this year... So much has happened. I wonder if Dionysus will make the strawberries grow back or just make someone else do it." he thought out loud. Logan glanced down at this summer's bead, which had a picture of the incident he was refferring to. A few days ago a son of Dionysus, who had yet to learn how to fully control his powers, had tried to make the strawberries to grow bigger, but he lost control and they all swelled up until they burst. Thus, this summer's beads had a picture of a huge strawberry.

"Don't worry, you still have next summer too." Bennie gently squeezed Logan's hand in her's, enjoying the warmth of his hand around her's. It reminded her of the water in the Gulf, warm and light. "And then after that, I'll visit you. I'll visit you a lot." She flashed a warm smile his way, trying hard to break the cloud of tension that had now nestled itself around them. Leading the way, Bennie pulled Logan under an arch in the trees and onto the trail through the woods, it would lead them to the stone gazebo on the edge of the hills.

Logan smiled back at her, walking up the path with her. "Heh, great. Now we can get attacked together!" he laughed, stepping up into the stone gazebo. He looked around happily at the smooth stone. He and Ben had discovered the place in their second year together at camp. This was where they always went now, when they were upset, or happy or just wanted to privately talk, so the other would know where to find them. Logan turned and looked at Ben, watching her raven black hair sparkle as the sun hit it. He remembered it was Strawberry blond when they first met. Kind of like a cross between the amber color of honey and the inside of a watermelon mixed together. So much had changed about her since then... It made him feel old again just thinking about it.

Dancing away from Logan, Ben jumped up onto the railing of the gazebo, sitting so she could face Logan from across the way, "I'm gonna miss you. I know I say that every year, but something seems different now. I dunno, maybe I'm just crazy." She smiled brightly, tugging at the ends of her hair. She caught Logan's eyes, watching her hair, she suddenly felt very self conscious. "Is there something wrong with my hair?"

Logan blushed slightly, hopefully it wouldn't show too much since he was so tan. "Oh, nothing, I was just, heh, thinking about you. I mean, uh, it, your hair I mean. I was just remembering how it used to be blond." he explained quickly. Logan nodded, "Definitely, it feels different." he totally agreed. "So, heh any plans for this year?" he asked, eager to get off the strange subject.
