Leaning forward a little toward the group of children, Aydin lowered his voice as he sang them a simple story-song. His twin was playing behind him, content to stay in the background, as always. This part of the story was intended to get the children to listen, since the next point was the lesson of the whole thing.

Smiling slightly, he held up a finger and stopped singing for a moment - leaving the children hanging in breathless silence. He tossed a glance and a little wink over his shoulder at Kadri, then went on a bit louder. Almost to the end now...

Perched on a pile of pillows nearby, his green firelizard and his twin's green and blue crooned along with the music, bobbing heads a bit in time to the beat.

The silvery notes of Kadri's flute hung in the air as he played through the chorus once more then dove into the final few bars of music. He knew how to sing this piece but preferred to play it... Besides, two voices would provide two focal points and might distract the children.

Glancing out the window as he played, his lively and always attentive green took flight from her place and swooped in to land on his head and peer at him, head upside down. She was small enough that it was not a great weight but he'd never quite gotten used to this habit of hers... it was her way of asking if he was alright.

Missing a few notes, he hurried to restore the music and groaned inwardly as he shook his head. Felicitas... shoo! I told you! It was too bad he could not mind speak to the firelizards like he'd heard Riders could with their dragons. Rolling his eyes, he tossed an apologetic glance at Aydin.

For the most part, the three firelizards were well behaved and well raised but despite their care, they would always have their own sprightly personalities - something neither twin could truly complain about.

<< M'zaji, do you hear that? Music! >> The blue warbled happily, quickly executing a barrel-roll and diving quickly towards the ground. Without much of a warning, M'zaji found himself gripping the riding straps until his knuckles were white underneath his wherhide gloves. Can't you TELL me next time you're going to do something like that? M'zaji grunted and shot his blue the mental question, his voice gruff and unhappy. Kaedrelath crooned apologetically, settling himself on the ground and extending his arm for M'zaji to dismount.

<< I'm sorry. I just wanted to listen to the music. >> Kaedrelath said, his voice heavy with apology and regret that he had upset his rider. M'zaji couldn't stay angry at his dragon; the rider patted his blue on the nose affectionately after dismounting. "It's alright," he assured Kaedrelath and removed his helmet.

The two of them suddenly diving from the sky and landing to listen to the music had most likely interrupted the small gathering of children. M'zaji pursed his lips and remained near his dragon, leaning against the blue's shoulder. He was loathe to interrupt the scene before him, the two older children (twins? They looked awfully similar) playing music for the younger ones.

<< You're going to have to interrupt, sooner or later. Those two will be coming back with us, >> Kaedrelath said confidently. M'zaji knew what his blue was talking about immediately, and he found it amusing that his dragon assumed the two boys would accept being searched. Sometimes, search was refused, though it happened very, very rarely. Nevertheless, M'zaji wasn't the type to barge in rudely, so he remained at Kaedrelath's side, waiting for the music to end before he interrupted.

The arrival of a dragon on the scene, however, had already accomplished interrupting the story. Though most of the children were polite enough not to jump up and run toward said dragon - most of them definitely weren't listening to the music anymore.

And then... there were the firelizards. With a happy sort of screeching noise, Rynin, the little green belonging to Aydin, took off toward the dragon - meanwhile shoving happy/excited emotions at her bondmate.

At first, Aydin didn't realize what was going on, his singing trailing off with a little frown when all the children looked away. Then Rynin took off too, and he turned his head to follow her flight ... and his mouth summarily dropped open. What was a dragon doing here?

It wasn't that the twins hadn't seen dragons before, but usually it was at a distance, flying over the Harper Hall maybe, or delivering some kind of package or something in the courtyard while they were at lessons ... not nearly so close as this one was to them.

Felicitas had been so absorbed into staring at her bondmate's face that she'd missed the arrival of Kaeldrelath but his little blue, eager and bold as he was, shot across the area to swirl around the dragon and his rider.

Flute music abruptly stopped as he glanced up in response to Cene's excited warbling and emotional tugs only to rise and run a few paces towards his other firelizard. "Cene! Get back here! Don't bother the rider! Cene!" Waving desperately at the flit, he shook his head, grateful that Felicitas had alighted on his shoulder after her rude displacement.

It took a moment but Cene eventually, and reluctantly, settled on Kadri's outstretched arm, warbling excitedly with Felicitas. "Sorry! I... uh... Cene's really straightforward..." Sharing in his twin's confusion, he stood beside Aydin unsure of what to do or say. Standing side by side as they were, it was almost impossible to tell them apart - even their hair was similarly disheveled thanks to Felicitas' attentions.

"Erm... Can we do something for you?"

Behind them, the children shuffled and murmured amongst themselves, infinitely curious about the dragon.

Kaedrelath had landed so that he could better hear the music. So naturally he became slightly saddened when the boys' musical duo came to an end. He crooned, a singular, low note to express his remorse at the sudden silence. "Oh, stop being dramatic," M'zaji chided his dragon lightly, bopping him on the nose. Kaedrelath perked up at company in the form of firelizards~ well, firelizard, rather.

M'zaji frowned, only slightly, as the second boy scolded his blue 'lizard for simply wanting to socialize. Inclining his head towards the boys, the bluerider gestured to their firelizards. "They're fine, Kaedrelath likes having them around actually," he assured them. They seemed minutely distressed, most likely caused by their pets. M'zaji grinned, and looked back and forth between the two. No need to give away his surprise for the two of them, not just yet!

"Kaedrelath heard your music as we were passing over," he indicated the sky above, and then gestured to the second boy's instrument. "He liked it, and wanted to listen." With a shrug, M'zaji offered them a smile. Peeking around the two boys, the bluerider noted the children that were all staring curiously at his dragon. He grinned. They received much the same reaction, regardless of wherever they went. Turning his attention back to the older pair, he held out his hand by way of greeting and introduction. "I'm M'zaji, of Ista Weyr, and that blue is my Kaedrelath."

For a moment, Aydin was at a loss as to what to say. A dragon liked their music? Seriously? I mean... firelizards and children were one thing, but a dragon?! "I.. you ... he does? Really?" he blurted finally, flushing slightly at the praise.

Then he kind of jumped, realizing the abrupt way they'd cut off their song when Kaedrelath had landed. "Should ... we continue then?" he asked, almost shyly - with a little glance over at his twin.

Like Aydin, Kadri was also pleasantly surprised by the compliment. It was one thing from a complete stranger but another thing entirely to be greeted like that from a dragonrider. Eyes wide, he met Kaedrelath's gaze and beamed at the dragon as he stood up a little straighter, pride filling his chest. A dragon liked their singing.... like his instrumentals.

That, he was sure, would be highlight of his month.

"He does...?" Kadri's gaze settled back on M'zaji and he smiled cautiously, "Alright. Go ahead you two, say hi if you want." Waving his arm slightly in the direction of the blue, it was but a moment before the pair of firelizards were fluttering about with their sibling near Kaedrelath. He couldn't help but smile at the happy sounds and positive emotions that came filtering back through their bond.

When his brother glanced at him, he nodded then nudged him in the side with an elbow. "Ah... I'm Kadri and the knucklehead here is Aydin. We're brothers." A small nod at that, though the latter was obvious. "We can... continue, if you like?"

The blue dragon was infinitely pleased with his draconic company. He chirped and warbled, babbling away in some strange tongue of the beautiful day, the merry music, and his overall happiness. M'zaji laughed. "See? He likes them. I promise, it'll keep him out of your way," the bluerider assured the boys. Without the firelizards to distract him, Kaedrelath most likely would have directed a barrage of questions at the boys, through M'zaji of course. He was happy not to play messenger today.

Well, M'zaji thought with a tilt to his head and small frown, I'm still playing a minor messenger role. He shrugged, and forced a smile to return. "Well met, boys," the bluerider said and his smile spread wider. "We'd love to hear more, yes," he encouraged the twins to continue their playing; he took a step back, and gestured towards Kadri's instrument. The bluerider was no Harper, but he certainly could appreciate fine music.

Aydin nodded at that, nudging Kadri right back with a little frown for calling him a knucklehead. "All right..." he said slowly, feeling a little flutter of nerves. Looking toward his twin, he turned to the children then and kind of waved his hands at them.

"Okay sit back down and we'll finish this song... c'mon, maybe after we're done you can see if M'zaji will let you ask a few questions..."

That got the kids to calm down (for the moment anyway), and they sat in a little cluster, one or two glancing over at the dragon and rider as Aydin nodded again to Kadri. "Ready when you are..."
