So, I'M BORED! I'm going through major episode withdrawal! So: what have we heard about the next special? (I'm not going to post this in white, 'cause this thread is potentially one huge spoiler.) 1. Episode Title: "Planet of the Dead" 2. Release date: Easter 3. Filming location: Either Dubai or Tunisia, depending on the rumors you hear.

Even though my mother calls him "pop-eyed chicken man" and my sister thinks he should cluck . . . At least you can read my fan fic. I'm putting sillier and sillier stuff into the epilogue (though it will take a serious turn) just because no one's commenting . . . I WILL get Eirwyn to rofl !

I love it! heart I don't really like fanfics myself, but I love watching episodes that Ive seen a million time, sometimes i catch stuff i didn't before. Like in the episode "the empty child" I had to watch that episode 3 times before i finally heard Rose: Look at you, beamin' away like you're father christmas! Doctor: Who says I'm not? Red Bicycle when you were twelve Rose: What? So awesome

This is worse than withdrawal between regular seasons since you know you're only gonna get a little bit here and there and no previews afterwards... and DT-withdrawal is really bad this time since it's like counting down the specials until he's not in any more. sad
I've been offline/sick lately.. *runs to check out fanfic*

Lol, pop-eyed chicken man...? xd
There aren't many fanfics I like... but silly is always a good sign! In fact, my withdrawal has made me start planning a half-crazed (or completely crazed) crossover fanfic between Doctor Who, Knight Rider, and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure... The last one just cause they totally stole the time machine disguised as a phone booth idea from Doctor Who. Well, that and it's my guilty pleasure. ninja
Of course, knowing me, it'll never leave the plot outline stage. My fanfics very rarely do (if they even make it INTO that stage). Anyway, I guess I'll go find yours. ninja
Edit: Aw... it had to be a romance-y one... No offence, but I am so far from interested. *sigh* I just really don't like romance. Especially the kind with lots of snogging. rolleyes Well, I'm sure many other people will love it. Don't take my opinion as meaningful in any way. I'm weird. sweatdrop

Well, re my fan-fic, you could skip over the nothing-but-snogging part one, and just read part 2, which starts halfway down page two. Yes, it has snogging, but it also has plot. And explosions. And running mrgreen
Back to the topic: Here's my whack train of thought re. "Planet of the Dead" (will white-out, in case I really am psychic and therefore spoilery):
One rumor I heard was that they were filming in Tunisia. Now, I think of Tunisa, I think of Tatooine (parts of the Star Wars films were shot there). Tattoine is a binary system. In "Gridlock" it was established that Gallifrey was a binary system. Hence, because of the twisted way my brain works, I'm wondering if this story might involve Gallifrey. It would be just like RTD to kill off the Time Lords, only to bring them back just before he leaves.
yeah, that makes about as much sense as my friend Kent's explanation as to "why fire engines are red"! mrgreen

It's a bit of a leap from a) to b) (since Tunisia isn't the official filming place of all fictional binary star systems... xp ) but c) sounds as true to life as you can get. I think (and HOPE) that it's a distinct possibility.

Well, you might also think about the kind of landscape we've seen on the rare glimpses of outer Gallifrey, outside the cities. And then what we've seen of Tunisia via Star Wars. And then also maybe think of what all of Gallifrey must look like now. 3nodding

That WOULD be a wonderful thing to hope for. But maybe a bit TOO wonderful. I'm not going to count on it, but if you end up being right, I'll be happy to hear "I told you so!" biggrin
Hm... theories...The name plus the location... implies a dead planet. Duh... *headdesk* I am obviously not good at making up theories. Ok, ok... Try harder! Hmmm... Time to search for clues!
Well, I found some rumors, but I'm rather skeptical... I'll white them out anyway, though.
Well, one thing is certain based on a video of filming I found on Youtube. At least part of it takes place on Earth and there are apparently three new companions. No idea whether or not any of them will stick around, though. And also, I saw one rumor that there will be at least one Time Lady involved somehow. There didn't seem to be any evidence to support this, though. At least not that I could find in my brief search. Finally, based on something from back in January (and therefore highly unlikely) it was rumored that the episode was going to take place on Skaro. I seriously doubt this, but I guess anything is possible. In the end, my search was probably useless... Sigh...

HEAPS AND HEAPS OF INFO ON EPISODE SPOILERS GALORE!!!
NOTE: These are not for Planet of the Dead, but the episode after that, which will be aired in the UK at Christmas.
- Someone has been cast in the second 2009 Special. Lindsay Duncan will play a character called Adelaide. Adelaide is apparently going to be the most cleverest and strong minded companion The Doctor has ever had.
- There are pictures of filming and Adelaide has been seen along with 2 other people in the TARDIS. Also a robot has been seen on set along with the Ood. There's also pictures of explosions and The Doctor in a space suit jumping in front of a green screen. There is a rumour it's Mars..
This is what my cousin told me. He's obsessed with Doctor Who and he always looks around the internet for information.

SarBear -- as to that pic of DT in spacesuit.. are you sure it's not the same of him from The Impossible Planet 2-parter? There was one of him with the space suit and green screen and it did look like the back set was for a planet, so.
It'd be awesome if the reason it's (possibly) filmed in Tunisia is what you guys think it is. biggrin

Lindsay Duncan as in this lady?

Lindsay DuncanWell that'll make a refreshing change to the teens at least. Though - if it's true - I can guess why they picked her for the role since there's THIS in my Google results. Oh look, I wonder if that's the same Matt Smith whose due to be the Doctor? I was gonna say how incestuous the BBC can be but then I read the plot of the play and thought it might be taken too literally... They do like to keep to little families of actors though. As far as Tunisia and you-know-where goes I think it maybe a bit of a wind up. Even if the landscape does turn out to be that I suspect they're only mentioning the Timelords to get us jumping in our seats... then they'll snatch it away again or find some gimmick to get round it.I'd be happy to be wrong though. And I have faith in Stephen Moffat.

I think (and HOPE) that it's a distinct possibility. Hee! Yeah, a to b works best in my crazy fan-fic universe (where Star Wars is real, and Doctor Who is a popular program in the Corellian sector, and could be filmed on Tatooine blaugh )However, your reaction to c is spot-on--let's give it up for Mister-Pull-it-Out-Of-His-Bum-At-The-Last-Minute-Davies! As far as your links, and speculation thereupon, i.e., that she's the Doctor's mum, O.K., that rivals the feakiest fan-fic EVA. Well, in that context of mother/son incest it does. What is it about sci-fi filmed in Tunisia and incest? rofl rofl rofl
