Guinevere was hungry as she wandered around town, and Kotatsu wasn't around, which presented a problem. The teenage Herald lacked money, and wasn't cute enough to beg for food anymore. Peering from door to door, she looked glumly at the restaurants that were open, inviting, and smelled good. She didn't have any way of making money unless she sold her body to science, which just wasn't an option, and she didn't have any friends around to bum money off of.
In the distance, the dark haired herald saw swinging doors and rushed over, remembering a strange adventure. The woman in the saloon had been nice. Nice and likely to feed hungry teenagers? Maybe. She peered into the Western bar, more tolerable to her tastes now that she was practicing sensible magic. Not everything had to be mystical anymore. "Hello?" she called into the saloon. "Anyone here?"

Avery had been looking around the kitchen for something to eat. Anabelle was out, and though she'd left very specific instructions about something like 'Brush your teeth' and 'For the love of God, don't play around with the knives', he'd only been half-listening. It was nearing an hour since she'd left, and since then he'd gone through all the cabinets and the contents of the fridge. His search had been fruitless. Everything he came across needed to be cooked before it could be eaten. Why was it Anabelle had no problem teaching him how to shoot a gun, but wouldn't let him near the stove? Frustrated, he kicked the nearest cabinet. Some pans came tumbling loudly onto the floor. When he heard a girl's voice float in from the other room, he jumped, thinking Anabelle had come home. Leaving the mess in the kitchen, Avery slipped into the main room.
He was relived to see a different and much younger girl standing by the door. The grin he gave her was not entirely from the pleasure of meeting her. It would be good to have someone to talk to, though. "Hello," he said, nodding his head. "Come on inside."
